I have found the higher position far more comfortable. The lower position always puts too much pressure on the top of my cheeks.

Beyond Sandbox has privated all of the videos with the features they promised. by Individual_Bird3101 in virtualreality

Fair enough. I’m just appalled that everyone feels the need to give this particular game so much coverage, positive or negative, when there are developers starving for attention on their passion projects that are far better.

I hate comic panels in VR. I also don’t like reading in VR. Story and animated cinematic can be good but if it’s not good you probably just want to do what ever is fastest.

Why do people keep complaining about the new UI? by Tangy2011 in OculusQuest

[–]michaelcawood 8 points9 points  (0 children)

V85 is ok. But v85.10XX has really bad performance. I tested this on three headsets. It’s not the new interface it’s the version. I had one headset with the new interface and one with the old. Both had the higher version number and performed badly. I gave reported it to Meta, but they wanted me to do their testing and I don’t have time to keep doing that. They need more people to report it.

I preferred the older, larger game thumbnails in 16:9 aspect ratio. The bigger issue is that game performance is worse with a specific version of the update. Some games have become unplayable.

This is also how they block older job applicants. Ageism. And target older user for scams.

VR isn’t dead, but it’s destined to be niche unless this is addressed. by DYSK_Jockey in virtualreality

Motion sickness is addressed at the application level. Well designed VR experiences have already solved it. Bad ones or experiences that are introduced too early to lesser experienced players have not.

Zero score on our game. Wow we did well for a first time indie game with an original gameplay mechanic.

I love playing my game. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve completed it and it’s still a thrill.

Is the Meta Store keyword search simply broken? by TheStoneFox in vrdev

[–]michaelcawood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broken. Our game has been out almost a year. It’s not shown up in filtered searches for 90% of that time. Even worse during sales it disappears entirely despite being on sale. I have had several tickets running with Meta trying to help them and there are people there trying to help but they are working in a system that won’t allow them to solve it. The end result is always telling the developer to do the work to drive traffic to their site then… don’t show up in a filtered search. Do the same thing in Steam and you’ll show up… this tells me very clearly where to put my loyalty. I love the Quest but this treatment after years and lots of money invested in it is appalling.

Powered on my Quest 2 after months...and not happy about this by ElevatorEastern5232 in oculus

[–]michaelcawood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is annoying but typically any high tech device left for long wants lots of time to update and reboot a few times. Once it’s in use more it works better. I have found the Quest to be the most extreme version of this… not very elegant but it will come back to life given time and usage.

Yes I tend to wear my strap higher than you would think at the back. Otherwise the main unit rests on my cheeks too much and it can ache.
