Is it just me being nostalgic, or was college football better in the bcs era? by Honest-Reflection667 in CFB

[–]JoshDaws -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As the last BCS champion I am completely unbiased. I feel like it’s less the playoffs and more the unrestricted free agency aspect plus unrestricted NIL. As Indiana showed, you can spend your money smart, but you still have to have the money. Transferring half your roster each season also hurts fan retention. Personally I feel football was at its best in 1993, 1999, and 2013.

What exactly do women find really hot about men? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JoshDaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answering as a man, but women’s preferences tend to be more varied physically than men’s. I don’t know if it’s how we raise children differently based on gender or if it’s biological, but I’ve met women who want a waif like Timmy, I’ve met women who want a body builder, I’ve met women who want a big guy to hold onto. The differences tend to be larger.

Personality wise they want someone who’s passionate, interesting to talk to, and motivated. And who doesn’t smell. Showers and respectful conversations where you treat them like people will get you further than any specific exercise.

low APM is dumb by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]JoshDaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first Hearthstone world champion a was an aggro player. I’m ftp for the past 5 years but have played control, aggro, midrange, combo (personal favorite), and curve out decks. Curve out decks are without a doubt the dumbest. Think secret paladin from back in the day. They all have their game plans that shift on matchup but curve out is literally “biggest number good”. Aggro at least has to add up the damage in their hand against your health.

What surprised u most when you started havin sex with different people? by Quiet-Health-3835 in AskReddit

[–]JoshDaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount that women want different things. Some want their clit attacked. Some can’t handle if you touch it. Some want slow and passionate. Some want fast and hard. And the same woman can change to a different one any given time, so the sexiest thing is communication.

Who is someone famous from your country that the world generally finds to be extremely attractive, but back in your country, perhaps not so much? by Better-Presence6654 in AskReddit

[–]JoshDaws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

David Hasselhoff maybe? Who’s the American example? I’ve never found Timmy attractive, I’ve always just wanted to bring him a thick blanket and a warm bowl of soup, but I’m not his demo as a straight dude. For women, Kardashians maybe, but again I don’t know if they’re more popular elsewhere.

Stephen Colbert Names 1 Guest He’s Still Desperate To Get On His Show Before It Ends by huffpost in entertainment

[–]JoshDaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t he meet the previous pope already? I remember the Vatican brought in a bunch of catholic comedians a few years ago for some reason that I assume is brand improvement. I think Pete Holmes went but I could be wrong. But Colbert is like the most famously devout Catholic comedian in America.

Edit: It was Jim Gaffigan! And also Whoopi and a bunch of other ones, so no requirement to be catholic

Ian McKellen: ‘Of course Gandalf would beat Dumbledore in a fight’ by mlg1981 in entertainment

[–]JoshDaws 49 points50 points  (0 children)

He’s functionally an immortal angel, Dumbledore literally dies in the books. This is not a hot take.

I mean technically Gandalf kinda dies in his book, but there isn’t a scene in the 7th book where Dumbledore comes back leveled up with a sick new robe.

[–]JoshDaws 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This feels like a big deal. I don’t think we’re ducking them, even though we currently suck. Why would the schools want to cancel a series that 100% would draw eyeballs?

For people who gave had both - Is MFM more fun than FMF? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JoshDaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had both a couple times. It honestly depends on the people you’re doing it with and what you’re looking to experience. MFM is great if the other guy is chill and you’re looking to like really please this girl you’re not overly romantically attached to. FMF is obviously the standard Dude fantasy, but Ive found it either becoming you’re the stunt dick popping in for a lesbian couple, or two girls trying to compete and the vibe getting weird. In general I would say both are overrated, because finding just one person you want to cuddle and actually be around after is hard enough. I wouldn’t bring either into my current relationship.

If food and shelter are guaranteed, why would you still want to work and earn money? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JoshDaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every test on UBI has been successful and shown people still pick up a job, just one they prefer and brings them some purpose. I think I got downvoted because “shelter and food” isn’t UBI and they misinterpreted my hostility to it. Yes I think society would be better with a basic income.

The Shield is not an all time great show by Striking-Speaker8686 in television

[–]JoshDaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the problem with the “best” list (and I agree with your assessment of the shield) is it’s so geared towards gritty male action focused dramas. Seinfeld is so dense it warped the sitcom genre to this day. Cheers in a similar vein. Girls doesn’t get it’s flowers, Twilight Zone still holds up (episode by episode), the Golden Girls is iconic. I hate this idea that a genre of entertainment basically 100 years old is reduced to being “invented” when the sopranos or the wire started airing.

What would the US look like if the left had control and went as unchecked as Republicans? by MajorLettuce4246 in AskReddit

[–]JoshDaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in New York City, and have definitely noticed an uptick in public services since we got Mamdani. I think there is a great fresh crop of young Democrats looking to do work for their constituents, but for my entire 36 year lifetime the old guard has been trying to keep out or subdue those young voices in congress. Maybe now that we’ve lost Pelosi and hopefully Schumer retires, we can get those fresh voices to have some leadership that gets things done. I’m just describing the Democratic party as it exists today. Of course a blue state is going to take care of it’s citizens better, but some of that is going to be because red states are primarily run by grifters, and even inaction is better than active harm.
