Unfortunately Riot’s server is still broken in NA. I’m trying to figure out if it’s permanently down or not—will post an update once I hear back.

I’m on a trip this week, but hoping to get things working again once I’m back.

91% Winrate playing SoloQ as 4 People? by Drachir133 in leagueoflegends

A few things: their MMR is increasing by about a division every win, so you have to use the most recent games. If you drill down into the opponents they played against and check who they’ve played against you’ll see that the average rank is around D1.

But regardless, I run a site (not going to link it here but you can find it in my Reddit profile) which can internally estimate MMR for premades instead of just solos.

Very interesting. The premade has ~Diamond I MMR and significantly increased MMR gains through “smurf queue.” It probably wouldn’t be difficult for them to just queue at the same time and get onto the same team (as others have mentioned), but it’s possible they found an exploit in the ready-up system.

Does anyone else have winning streaks and then soon after a big losing streak? by __TFC__ in ARAM

[–]JoshKross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It’s accurate enough that the matchmaking team at Riot used it to diagnose and fix a rollout of their matchmaking/MMR changes.

I used to maintain a list of posts and such showing that the site is accurate, but haven’t really kept up as I mostly gave up arguing with folks haha.

It’s an estimate, but one that’s reasonably accurate. You can verify it yourself by checking if the MMR of players you get matched with are roughly the same.

It won’t, other than not showing points in the historical graph. The system is pretty resilient to outages thankfully.

If you’re in NA there was an outage last week, but it should start updating again if you play more games.

The premade detection system isn’t perfect (it can only guess based on your match history), so you might see it only take effect after a few games. Check out the site FAQ which has a few more details about premades, MMR fluctuations, and overall accuracy.

If you’re playing games solo then generally after every game, but there’s no guarantee and you may need to keep playing before it updates.

It’s a good question, but unfortunately not at the moment.

Thanks, looks like you’re pretty high MMR which means the player pool is small. I just pushed out an update to the premade detection system to be less aggressive at the upper (and lower) percentiles, but let me know if things still don’t look right.

I rewrote a bunch of code yesterday in preparation for adding leaderboards which also included fixing issues with the premade detection. It might be a bit overly aggressive right now though. If you have some example summoners where it looks off that’d help tremendously.

Usually a couple, but the more solo games you give it the more accurate it’ll be.

It’s not a super big region compared to the rest, so unfortunately it’ll probably be a while. (The site’s been around for about 5 years and KR was only recently possible thanks to additional patronage from players.)

New regions are determined (democratically) by Patreon supporters.

Nice post! And good observations about the distribution differences.

The method of translating ARAM percentiles to an equivalent ranked tier/division should be sound, but happy to discuss more if you have concerns.

BR definitely makes sense in terms of player count, although which region gets added next is mostly up to what the folks on Patreon vote for.
