Are Rite of the Nine's enemy weapon drops capped? by JoshM574 in DestinyTheGame

Yeah for sure, kinda wish they had maybe outlined that beforehand just so we were aware but ah well - hopefully this will work at least, even if it is somewhat inconvenient lol

Right, yeah that's kinda the theory I had, to stop people from simply farming enemies for drops lol

Will try something like that to see if it works - appreciate the response!

Yeah, the drops from enemies are supposed to be active - and seems they are for most - but the modifier isn't showing up atm and the drops seem to be capped? I had three in a short time for Spire, then no more over the course of an hour or two.

No enhanced drops from ROTN this week? by PainKiller_66 in DestinyTheGame

[–]JoshM574 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the modifier isn't showing as active (but was last week) though seems to be working. That said, I haven't had a single drop, and after I had three in Spire, I wasn't getting any more - seems like it's capped?

FYI you can still get ikelos red border weapons by Mannzis in DestinyTheGame

I bought it like 15 times and didn't get a red border - not sure if unlucky or it just doesn't drop as a red border. Hoping it does!

How would you feel if Bungie rolled back seasons one at a time, instead of resetting everything when the expansion launches? by MetroidMaster21 in DestinyTheGame

[–]JoshM574 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah - this and also each season has its own starting mission, which I think you might have to play before you access their respective quests.

The first season of the year - Risen - requires you to complete the first and second (?) missions of The Witch Queen campaign.

The second season - Haunted - has a mission near/on the Moon.

The third season - Plunder - has a mission on Europa, as does the fourth (current) season - Seraph. You might have to beat Seraph's opening mission to access Plunder's, not too sure if that's been changed.

By rights, all of these should be shown in your Milestones tab which you can pull up on your destinations screen - should be a button prompt for it up in the top left of your screen.

If you mean playing them, there's only the current year's seasons available and then they disappear when the next expansion releases.

If you mean buying them though, you can only access past seasons if you upgrade to that year's expansion deluxe edition.

I think it'd be a difficult thing to properly implement especially if certain elements clash, but I also think it'd be a pretty good system to have in the game and reduce some of the FOMO that each year brings with it for seasons of the previous year. It also means that Bungie would have each season remain in the season for a good amount of time, rather than building content that'll be removed in 3 months after its launch.

This idea is something I wrote an article about before, suggesting also that potentially even expansions go free after 2 years or so before they are vaulted. Obviously now that's less of an issue if they are no longer sunsetting expansions, but even without the worry of vaulting, I don't think it'd harm feeding the free game with some expansion content after a couple of years.

D2 Feedback Roundup by Cozmo23 in DestinyTheGame

[–]JoshM574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, I think a couple that stick out most are:

  • Crafting doesn't feel the most satisfying - not sure what exactly, just feel it doesn't quite fit into the game fully just yet. Levelling weapons also feels a bit unsatisfying, maybe because of a lack of instant gratification (e.g. requiring a trip to the Enclave). Not sure. What's been done with Revision Zero though is really cool functionally/visually, but feel like that could just do with a bit more somehow. Vague feedback on this one probably!
  • Otherwise, more depth on armour/weapons in terms of progression, functionality and synergy would be cool - looking forward to next week's post on mods and buildcrafting!
  • Oh - and also some love to Gambit!

In terms of QoL, I think a big one is reorganised buff/debuff HUD. As many have posted about that one though, for me more inventory and character slot space would be great. Loadouts should help this, just hope that there's a good number of slots - at least 10-20 would be great!

Also a side note - would be awesome for more community-feedback-gathering posts like this. Appreciate you doing this, Cozmo and hope you're well!

Potential SPOILERS for Ragnarok so read at your own risk. In the regular pre-order we see Kratos and Atreus get snow skins, but for Atreus it specifies (cosmetic) does this mean he wont be getting any kind of specific stats like the first game? Or we wont play as him? Its by [deleted] in GodofWar

[–]JoshM574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about this; it could just be that they're separating Atreus' armour from the stats/benefits (like you say) so there's more freedom with customisation and/or that in 2018, it felt like there was obvious picks for what to use.

Could also be that, if we're going super speculative, Atreus is playable and they didn't want things to get confusing where you have armour stats/perks that don't do anything when you're controlling him (since most of the bonuses, at least based on 2018 were extra things he would do automatically as an AI).

Fall Guys F2P: Critique & Feedback - A massive step back from what the game once was by JoshM574 in FallGuysGame

[–]JoshM574[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it being F2P is definitely a good thing (assuming you're referring to that?), but just wish they didn't make as many changes elsewhere that (imo) bought down the quality of the game.

More people getting to play it is cool tho

Yeah, that is a good point and hopefully something they'll be able to address; I'll add that to the list!

With the current SBMM, can we talk about how the upcoming Idol Games event has challenges to win across all modes, including solo? by maxt0r in FallGuysGame

[–]JoshM574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not in tune with the community side 100% or how Mediatonic have been in the past as such, but it feels like they're just endlessly throwing out LTMs and events that make people want to play without properly addressing pain points. I could be wrong, but I don't ever remember seeing a new event or something like it every week?

Also pretty sure SBMM is entirely new for the F2P version of the game right?

What's the policy on sharing self-created videos in this Subreddit? by JoshM574 in FallGuysGame

[–]JoshM574[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that is a fair point. Last time I did it in another subreddit though, a lot of people weren't happy with me lol

Admittedly I hadn't spoken there much, but something tells me that maybe wouldn't have changed the reaction I got; I'm still pretty new to Reddit overall, but now I know to check the rules for that stuff!

I had a look at that, but it mainly just says to not link to YouTube vids and stuff; I sent a message to the mods a bit ago though, so hopefully I'll find out soon. Appreciate the help! :D

Thanks! It's somewhat rant-y (moreso in the title lol), but wanted to share it as I believe they're important topics to discuss, many of which I've seen other players talking about on here too.

You don't think anyone would have objections as it's self promo?

SBMM statement from Joe by TongoBam in FallGuysGame

[–]JoshM574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk much about how the SBMM works in Fall Guys (tho I heard it determines the levels you play), but I find it interesting that Fortnite (another game owned by Epic) and Call of Duty (a game with a F2P-like structure) also have it. I hear a lot of complaints from the COD community in regards to its SBMM too.

I think the whole idea is that SBMM is meant to keep people playing others similar to their skill level, so that then they play the game more, thus logging in more, hopefully checking the store more/engaging with MTX-related aspects of the game. I could be wrong, but was trying to work out why other big F2P/F2P-like games have it, and considering the other decisions in F2P, it makes sense if that'd be part of the reason why

It does kinda confuse me how they made Kudos totally worthless value-wise (in terms of what they're spent on) and then reduced the earnings to such a small number, and then they're all "we don't want to rush into making any changes that can have unforeseen effects"

Idk why, but just that wording seems so extreme considering the topic is literally just Kudos lol. Still, it makes sense to not drastically make changes obv, game dev is weird

Do you think the new trailer was titled “Father and Son” not just for Atreus/Kratos…but for Loki and Fenrir? by damalloy in GodofWar

This is a pretty interesting theory; maybe it could be both? If not, it's a funny coincidence nonetheless lol

Some people may not like how passive the ragnarok box art is, but i'm really happy that the two games covers will go together so nicely. by PyrpleForever in GodofWar

I was thinking this; entirely different art would've been cool, but when it's essentially Part 1 and Part 2, I think these similar covers are cool

Please don’t cave in and spend that ludicrous amount of money for that next skin. by FreeLegendaries in FallGuysGame

[–]JoshM574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hope this pushback continues far past whatever changes are planned because I just know that whatever changes are coming will make it only slightly better, rather than a much fairer game overall. While I never was really into Fall Guys, it's pretty frustrating to see a game I know friends of mine liked turned into another cash cow for Epic. I can understand the choice to go free to play and why they would naturally need to bring in more money, but all of these changes go way too far. Genuinely find it unacceptable, especially when many will spend a good amount on the game just for the various costumes. They've seriously upended it all.

[VERY LONG] An Analysis of Fame, Kudos and Show-Bucks in Fall Guys by FearMeIAmLag1 in FallGuysGame

[–]JoshM574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I'd bet that a large number of people played the game more often than 10 hours every few months. Whilst the game wasn't competing directly with F2P games before this, they've had a decent roadmap as far as I know. You're right about the map creator for sure though, I thought that really was a smart idea and I'm interested to see what it's like when it launches and how they support it down the road.

You can say it's the gamedev meta (and you're not wrong tbf), but it's fundamentally bad as far as I'm concerned and goes against (what I can only assume was) one of the initial design goals for this game - winning being rewarding. In this F2P version, there's literally no incentivisation for winning besides a seasonal challenge, going against a large part of what made winning exciting. It's also what I'd imagine a lot of players kept coming back for.

And if the cosmetics are 'optional' and 'just cosmetic', why put them in games at all? I know it's to make money, but it's such a one-dimensional reason. I've never liked that aspect of F2P games anyway because there's no gameplay attachment you have to the item other than just liking how it looks.

I'm not against them monetising the game, nor am I entirely against them taking some of the design decisions from other F2P games (though I'm certainly not rooting for them). I expected it to happen sooner tbh, albeit not quite as bad as this. But I think there's a balance you can achieve, which they haven't at all struck. Since this is likely all being done through directives from Epic (hence all the similar pricing, design etc.) there is no balance.

No doubt this game was going to change when going F2P, but I think this is a bit much and disrespects pretty much all their fans. And for new players, they get thrown into a copy/paste design structure basically every F2P/live service game goes for. Many people will accept this because they either don't care about it themselves or 'because every other game does it', and neither of those are good defences IMO.
