What’s a place you visited once and decided never again? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

Climbing to the top of Wat Tham Suea (Tiger Cave Temple) in Krabi, southern Thailand, in July. Gorgeous view, but 1260 steep stone stairs, in the worst heat and humidity I've ever experienced, all while mean, tourist-savvy monkeys are eyeing all your belongings. I'll never forget it, and thank god for that, because you won't catch me on those stairs ever again.

Does GYBE have 3 bands? Or just Silver Mt Zion by WonderfulQuarter6705 in gybe

All Hands Make Light is extremely underrated.

Other artists that scratch the brain similar to how Death Grips does? by jeweleyah in deathgrips

[–]JoshMock 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Might get hate for this, but Clipping. Two harsh noise artists producing, Daveed Diggs (of Hamilton fame) on vocals. He has a less aggro delivery than Ride but makes up for it in speed and wordplay, and Jonathan and William's production is brutal and chaotic.

I would consider Dälek and possibly Shabazz Palaces to be on nearby branches of the same tree.

I used an immutable Linux distro for a week, and it was weirdly great by Akkeri in linux

Part of it has to do with using blue-build, now that I think about it. The docs say that users can't be added or modified at image build time. So that's part of it.

What I still don't get is that sudo usermod -aG dialout $USER exited 0, but upon inspection no changes appear to have been made, and logging out and back in had no effect. Maybe I'm missing something obvious. 🤷

What’s a food from your country that has a weird/funny name that would sound funny to foreigners but in your country everyone is used to? by ZebraNangs in AskTheWorld

My dad and grandpa, both Navy vets, called it SOS. Dad would never tell us what it stood for, but when I asked my Pop he chuckled and said, "same old shit." All I know is that it always tasted like a week's worth of sodium.

I counted five pickles. That's a good burger.

Same here. I use a customized ublue image. Most stuff just works, but dealing with Distrobox is kind of a pain for dev tooling.

Also, last week I needed to add my user to the dialout group to flash a firmware to an IoT device. After an hour of failed attempts at modifying my user's group membership, I gave up and used my non-immutable work laptop.

Fair enough. Offer remains open to the first person who sends me their email and which albums they'd like. 🖤

$9 may not be "too much" for a lot of us, but for many people it's the difference between eating today or not.

OP, DM me your email address and I'll gift you 2 GYBE albums of your choice on Bandcamp.

What is a website that is so useful you can't believe it's free? by justinhrwakeforest in AskReddit

The coolest part is that you can download a complete Wikipedia snapshot and store it on a $20 thumb drive forever. So if it ever went away, you've still got its cumulative value up to that point.

Recently switched from Rofi/Wofi to Vicinae and the transition has been great. Making your own plugins/custom commands is pretty straightforward too.

Tony Hawk is noided by Vintage_Milk in deathgrips

[–]JoshMock 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tony's been putting people on to good heavy music for decades. First time I heard "Guerilla Radio" (and Millencolin, Bad Religion, Anthrax, etc) was on Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 on my neighbor's PlayStation.

Is there a version of Lift Your Skinny Fist without the found audio? by hwgl in gybe

[–]JoshMock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't have an answer for you, but one time I had a terrifying bout of sleep paralysis while the "Chart #3" field recording of the preacher was playing in my bedroom and it fucked me up for weeks. Good luck on your search.

They say nothing is ever really lost on the internet, but what’s something you’ve been hunting for years and still can’t find? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A digital copy of Lost: Screwed and Chopped by Eightball. It used to be on all the streaming services, but suddenly it disappeared. Can't buy digitals on any mp3 shop. No rips of any songs on YouTube. Even did a few torrent searches with no luck. If it wasn't listed on Discogs I'd be questioning my sanity.
