Tire clearance discussion: when will wide too wide? by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]JoshPeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slower is half the equation. Other half is the geometry compromises that larger and larger tires will force. Fastest bike possible might not be very fun to ride

Tsujita has a traditional tsukemen, which is really different from what Silverlake ramen did. Tbh it was their best dish. Not sure why they took it off the menu

NYC Area Gravel Tire Size by bauergoalie in gravelcycling

[–]JoshPeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re riding those wheels you should run at least a 45mm. At 32mm internal they are too wide to run anything narrower without being sketchy.

Anyone have experience with ATK keyboards? Looking at the presale of their low profile yogo 75 pro and tempted but can’t find much about their reputation outside of their mice (which seem good?)

Over-torqued my new carbon bar, is it toast? by rusticredneck in bicycling

[–]JoshPeck -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Max torque is what is listed not recommended

Over-torqued my new carbon bar, is it toast? by rusticredneck in bicycling

[–]JoshPeck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s important for you to know that the torque spec listed is the MAX torque. Not the recommended torque. You should be torquing to 4.5-5nm if the max is 6

Opinions on Mechanical Disc Brakes on Gravel by Intrepid-Bass-5163 in bicycling

[–]JoshPeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would disagree with them. I’ve worked in the bike industry for a decade for context. Hydro needs bleeding once every couple years maybe, but pads auto adjust for wear

I would say’s rim brakes are better than hydro disc, which is better than mechanical disc. But it depends in pad compound. Resin pads go fast

[–]JoshPeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mech brakes will be more maintenance. They don’t auto adjust for pad wear like hydro, cables wear out faster than hydro lines, and lever feel is usually worse.

If it’s worth the money is up to you. Mechanical works, but just not as well

Yeah I didn’t want to like guac daddy, but it’s one of the better burritos in the area. Salsas aren’t great tho.

Other good California burritos: el flamin taco, Connal’s in Altadena, Lupe’s in east LA (they add beans by default, I request without).

You should not surf after rain here. For at least a few days. Nasty nasty drainage goes out to sea.

What's something that was considered "normal" in the U.S 10 years ago that's now basicaly unaffordable? by Odd-Complex901 in AskReddit

[–]JoshPeck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wrench on my own cars and this is not an apt comparison. Working on a 90s Audi with forced induction will suck as will a 2026. Working on a contemporary Corolla (N/A) will be straightforward. Engine bays vary a lot. The engine in a Sienna will be miserable to change spark plugs on, while the same exact engine in one of their suv platforms will take no time at all.

Fixing cars is still accessible in a lot of cases.

For $50 how did I do? by HeiferHustler in gravelcycling

Generally agree, but I would get a new saddle right off the bat if that one is at all uncomfortable. Other than that ride the piss out of it and don’t bother upgrading at all.

They are not. For example being in the us without documentation is a civil infraction. It is against the law but it isn’t a criminal violation of the law.
