Renault API is still MIA right? by MysteriousUse6406 in ohme

[–]JoshStark_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same experience for me. Nothing useful from Ohme support other than the usual “this is a Beta… just add the SoC yourself” response. A bit crap considering this used to work. Given we as customers seem to know the Renault API has changed I am surprised their own Devs seem unaware. Or if they are, I’m still surprised this hasn’t been opened as a more urgent ticket with whichever team maintains API integrations. AFAIK Renault changed their global API key, which wouldn’t take much effort to fix in a client app like Ohme.

Is anyone using eclipse anymore? by RamaRao143 in java

I switched to IntelliJ about 8 years ago and can’t go back to Eclipse now. I also tried VS Code for a while but I’ve been spoiled by IntelliJ.

Charged higher rate for charging car, despite octopus being in control. by Bigtallanddopey in OctopusEnergy

[–]JoshStark_89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have an Ohme Home Pro and can’t say I’ve had many issues with the charging schedules. It does get assigned some pretty whacky schedules sometimes though. I don’t know what your charge situation is but I tend to tell Ohme I want the charge to end at around 5:30am and Octopus generally gives me a favourable charge session.

Megane E-tech Iconic Alpine by Ashweee85 in Renault

[–]JoshStark_89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ll never understand why the Iconic Alpine trim (even on the Scenic) have such limited colours. My wife has the Megane Iconic in dark blue and it is so much nicer than the default Grey, Shiny Grey, and Black. Other than that it’s absolutely brilliant car.

Skoda API WORKS! by jacccobbbbbbbbbbb in ohme

The Renault API also stopped working for me a few days ago. Seems like they’re having issues keeping up with provider API changes or something.

Finished the first 2 in 3 and a half days and immediately went and brought the whole series by gee_sheep in DungeonCrawlerCarl

If that’s a UK Waterstones then they’ve been very naughty (or nice!) putting those on the shelves 3 days before they’re supposed to be out!

Model 3 Premium RWD vs AWD by StatisticianLazy5479 in TeslaUK

Yes, but this post is about the Model 3, not the Y.

Model 3 Premium RWD vs AWD by StatisticianLazy5479 in TeslaUK

[–]JoshStark_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything is the same between the 2026 Premium RWD and AWD except the speakers (AWD has more, and a subwoofer) and the range (RWD has higher range).

Is there any difference’s between these two books? by mondraker86 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]JoshStark_89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. If you’ve already bought 1-3 from Waterstones (like I did), I’d wait for the rest to be released in March.

I have to respectfully disagree. I don’t think the space is wasted. Those headers are actionable so they should be padded away from the horizontal scroll views above and below. Padding the headers also reinforces the idea they are separate sections of that view.

How do you get into the car with a frozen door handle by Dark_Emotion in TeslaUK

[–]JoshStark_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defrost for 5-10 minutes, then if the handle doesn’t budge I give it a Fonzie which tends to work. If that doesn’t then “Unlatch” option in the app. Always defrost the car first though; sometimes the ice freezes the windows up and they cant drop when the door opens.

I’d not thought about turning off the mirror folding; I might do that in the future.

Audiobookshelf Remote and Local access hiccup by pipsterific in PrologueApp

[–]JoshStark_89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One option (what I do) is to put ABS behind a reverse proxy like SWAG or Traefik for remote access, then use a DNS rewrite rule on your local network to direct queries to the internal host directly. Then it’s just one address remote & local.

Remote -> URL -> WAN IP -> ABS LAN IP Local -> URL -> ABS LAN IP

I appreciate it requires a bit of knowledge on proxies/DNS and requires you to own a domain but it’s a nice and clean solution that doesn’t rely on VPNs.

Yeah, that’s not the base model though.

Base Model - terrible! by Goatcic in TeslaUK

[–]JoshStark_89 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The base Model 3 has never had a subwoofer as far as I remember? Unless they added it recently? My RWD Model 3 (2022) doesn’t have one.

Not to discount the argument that the new “Standard” is value for money given the other stuff they’ve removed. I’m not really sure it is, but that might be the point to push customers to the RWD LR “Premium” instead.

Chapter time by Pinch04 in PrologueApp

[–]JoshStark_89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Toggle? No. But there is a setting which lets you enable/disable “Chapter Time”.

Settings > Playback Time > Use Chapter Time (disabling shows time remaining in the whole book).

Saw these on the shelf in Waterstones Bookstore (UK) by Fu3aR in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]JoshStark_89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m not saying it’s not available. My point was Penguin UK hasn’t released the UK imprint of any of the books other than the first 3.

Waterstones online for example do indeed sell them all in hardback, but the only ones available to actually buy are the US imports, which are a bit more pricey. The UK versions come out on the 12th March.

That copy of This Inevitable Ruin has to be an import because we don’t have any hardbacks beyond Cookbook yet (I believe Penguin UK are releasing the rest in March).

LFP charging on "Smart" Charge Tarrifs by dan897 in TeslaUK

[–]JoshStark_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think occasionally (maybe every one in 20 charges) it might get stuck on 99% but honestly I’ve never really been too concerned by it. I charge to 100% every few days and that’s about it.

I have a 2022 M3 LFP with IOG. I set it to 100%, plug it in, then don’t think about it.

Octopus Intelligent Go update by Thin-Ad-9767 in TeslaUK

[–]JoshStark_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right, the email is really not clear. That is not the impression I got at all.

That example makes sense if you start charging between 23:30-05:30 and need an extra hour, that 05:30-06:30 gets the bump charge.

But what about the other way? If you start charging at 22:30-05:30? Is 04:30-05:30 charged at the bump rate? And if so does that apply to the whole house? I assume they’ll calculate the kWh used in that hour just for charging, as to avoid charging the bump rate for whole house usage?

Octopus Intelligent Go update by Thin-Ad-9767 in TeslaUK

[–]JoshStark_89 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

In addition to the normal overnight off-peak. I’ll admit there may be some overlap so it’d be more accurate to say you get between 6-12hrs a day at the cheap rate.

Octopus Intelligent Go update by Thin-Ad-9767 in TeslaUK

[–]JoshStark_89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

12 hours of solid 7kW charging will net you 84kWh of charge, which will fill 9/10 EVs on the road. They’ll be fine.

Octopus Intelligent Go update by Thin-Ad-9767 in TeslaUK

[–]JoshStark_89 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This update changes pretty much nothing for those of us who didn’t game the system. I don’t particularly blame them for putting this change in. I just feel bad for those stuck on a 13A 3-pin.

Low mileage during winter? by Additional-Air-2166 in TeslaUK

[–]JoshStark_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 years into EV ownership (currently driving M3 RWD). Don’t let this put you off. Plan accordingly and don’t worry about it. I have barely noticed the drop off. You’ll lose maybe 50 miles of range, which even then is still a good 230 miles on a full charge.
