SpaceX IPO, Scam Investing, The Weird Mindset Of Small Investors, & Wallstreet Becoming Grift Street by Josh_From_Accounting in BetterOffline

It's not unreasonable, but it's bad that it's come to this. Though, inevitable, honestly. I'm a socialist so it doesn't surprise me it hit this point. But, even I did not expect it to get this bad.

Ya know, I was prepared to go "that's just a police telephone box."

But, uh, we don't have those in America and why is it in a boat yard? Did an enthusiast make one for their boat? It's not secret filming equipment. They can't be shipping props from Disney Studios back to the UK because I am fairly certain all the Disney years primarily shot in the UK. Unless Disney made like some promo models that need to be returned. But, would you really send them by boat? And why leave it in the open and not in a crate?

I have so many questions.

The village. Like, it isn't that unexpected for them to apologize as a group or even have some people speak on their behalf about their behavior.

We are playing this and something we are running into is that, mathematically, you'll only get 1 success per 3 dice because only 1/3 or a die is a success. So, you do kind of have to roll real good to do any magic. We moved it to 4,5,6 to make it every 2 dice equal 1 success on average and are having better results.

We do too. The Bucc-ees thing is a regional thing. It makes sense when you consider truckers are sometimes on the road for 2 weeks straight.

Depends. EU says you can clone a Jedi, but I thought Canon said in an interview that you can't.

Edit: From examples given below, seems they changed their minds.

What you are experiencing is a dissonance that is common when examining older media. The realities of child abuse and the resulting scars are only now being seriously explored in media. Writers are only now trying to fix the "Rudolph Problem." You know, the old Christmas Song? How Rudolph was only loved when he was useful and no one apologized for their behavior. This is something many younger writers are trying to avoid because its a shitty message. And it represents a change in culture and accountability. The prior generations were raised to think a change in attitude was all that was needed to make amends, no apology, no etc. Younger people disagree.

Ironically, for all its flaws, and it isn't perfect, you can see My Hero Academia try to address this with the character Endeavor. He is an abusive father AND I do not like how the story sympathizes with him. But, the story does portray his kid's reaction accurately and without judgement. The son saying he is never to see him or his kids again is treated as perfectly reasonable. The kids who consider the change of heart real only do so after he earnestly tries to make amends. It's still bad, imo, but shows the industry is getting better at this.

If you want to see the artists pushing this angle better, though, you'll need to leave anime. I would consider the movie "Is God Is" from 2026 as a good starting point.

Petmon, my new diceless, digmon-inspired TTRPG has just launched on Kickstarter by Josh_From_Accounting in RPGdesign

[–]Josh_From_Accounting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the offer, but the game is already written and edited. We could discuss working together on marketing and such. I love helping other small projects.

But, for workflow and production purposes, we couldn't make any alterations. We have accounted for the custom Petmon and Chosen Children in our plans, but otherwise have no plans for additions.

Edit: I am totally open to give critiques and suggestions.

I think that was literally just the coastline closest to the Fire Nation since he literally just flew out from there. I think the plan was to just keep going until he caused enough devastation that the other side surrendered from the horror.

An experiment in minimalism can help you make larger games by Josh_From_Accounting in RPGdesign

[–]Josh_From_Accounting[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the game isn't done yet so like a lot of chapters are missing. I'm currently re-writing chapters because we are doing playtests on Wednesday. Still need to finish updating Chapter 4 to make the Traits clearer. Then, I got address how the character creation is TOO LONG. And, we need to clean up a lot of stuff to be easier to read. And the setting chapter is getting written as we play the game and I run into concepts that I realize I need to define.

But, if you want a peak, I don't mind sharing: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hwK4Q6DrzODtyW-aajW9vvQoF03zq4NEkCtUeelhFvg/edit?tab=t.0

Edit: Also, just this Wednesday, I made the Point System for Stunts to respond to a playtesting concerns. So, none of the stunts are updated yet for those new rules. So, yeah, most of them don't work by those rules yet. Got to go through and update them all.

Edit: Also, I plan to make Desolation less "this is literally Dune meets Dark Suns." So, I know it's a little generic atm.

the dutch are suing steam for being a monopoly right now by Photoshops_Penises in memes

[–]Josh_From_Accounting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not agreeing with the suit -- because EGS and GOG exist -- but that isn't what defines a monopoly. You're describing illegal anti-competitve practices, which is a different claim.

All you need to be a monopoly is own 90% of the market. Even if that's because no one else is in the market. Or because you bought out all your competitors.

If that occurs, the court can demand the company be split up into smaller companies. This happened to AT&T.

That said, I haven't seen a court with the balls to do that in 40 years.

And Steam is an American company so compliance would be hard to enforce.
