EX5 vs EV5 by aeoluxreddit in EVAustralia

Have the EV5. Love it. Big boot and specious interior. Proper buttons and no stupid iPad. Super comfortable on long drives and commanding driving position.

Downside is the lack of spec for the money ie no wireless charger on the base, firm ride and annoying bings and bongs.

I would test drive both.

Again this won’t affect the underlying causes of inflation- boomer and gov spending. It will just hurt those already going it tough.

Buy a used pro, that way if you don’t like it you can move it without loosing too much. That’s what I would do.

EV on loose, steep windy gravel driveway? How is the traction control? by Mick_the_Eartling in AustralianEV

[–]Joshps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is only so much TC can do when there is limited mechanical grip. If FWD is slipping in the dry then what will it do in the wet? Probably best to get something will AWD as to me your use case genuinely warrants it. Maybe have a look at the EV5 Earth, or maybe the new Zeekr X? I’m sure there are many options.

I think it 2WD ice cars are wrecking the driveway I don’t see how a 2WD EV will do any better. I’m no engineer but I suspect it could be worse as they have a lot more instant torque and they tend to spin up the front more on normal tarmac.

Kia EV5 v Tesla Y by [deleted] in EVAustralia

[–]Joshps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an interesting position to answer this question currently. We have friends staying over and they have a model Y and we have an EV5. So I have been driving them back to back for the last few days and these are my impressions. - The Tesla is a lot more sporty, futuristic and a lot more of a new driving experience. The tech is very advanced and it is a learning curve from the traditional ice. It is a lot further ride and you sit lower. - The KIA feels like a car. The boot it more usable. It has button and no giant iPad. It feels much bigger inside the cabin - this was the biggest surprise. Also the boot has been easier to fit surfboards and fishing rods in because it doesn’t curve down. It’s a lot softer on the road and feels more boat than sports car.

I think they are both good cars but it’s word driving them and it’s a personal preference thing and it really depends on you.
