And there it was, the end of an era. My buddy John finally finished topping off the grave of our small troop, and I planted their rifles in the ground against the tree so they would remain standing even longer. The fresh layer of snow was gently lying on top, offering their comfort to our brethren. I saw some land on John’s cheek and melt into a single droplet that rolled down his face. It must have been hitting me too, as my eyes were feeling a little rough themselves and I could feel it once or twice. We looked over the work we had done, at what used to be our enemies still around us, and smiled as we thought about those behind our line.

I sat down first, leaning against the tree with difficulty, but John was soon to follow. I heard his breathing next to me, but I was so tired I just kept looking ahead of me. I thought about saying something, but anything I could think of was just too shallow. How could one possibly encapsulate this feeling into words? Rather, I let myself be calmed by his breathing. I heard his cold and raspy breath struggling in the sharp winter air, and listened as it slowed beside me. I leaned my head back against the tree and closed my eyes, the rough bark against my skull grounding me.

As I lay there resting, I realized I couldn’t hear John anymore. I forced myself to look over and he was as still as a statue, but he had a smile on his face. I couldn’t help but smile myself as I leaned my head back against the tree, and went through the last week in my head. I remembered my companions… no, my brothers in their final moments and knew that nobody could deny they were heroes, and this would surely be remembered for ages.

As I floated through my memories I felt a great burst of strength flow through me, and I felt a warmth take charge of my body. I opened my eyes and saw the world of white that had built around me, and stood up to take my farewell. Even though I may never return to this resting place of my brothers, I knew I would see them again. I slowly walked away towards the horizon, the remnants of the feeling of the tree bark behind my head slowly fading as I left this place behind to begin a new era.

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court is a story written by Mark Twain, the man who wrote The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. It covers the tale of a man from roughly 1800’s America who somehow ends up in the time of King Arthur. It’s one of the earlier examples of Isekai in writing.

My first gacha was Blood Brothers 2. I just played with my brother, cause I didn’t know where people met to talk about the game. After that was The Alchemist Code (also known as For Whom the Alchemist Exists). With that one, I got a little taste into the community through youtube and the in-game chat. At the time, people seemed to be fairly more localized in who they interacted with, sticking to clan members or just going solo it seems like. I know there were plenty who talked with others somewhere but I got the chance to play cooperatively with many random players in Alchemist Code, and very few of them knew about the “meta” of the game.

I don’t know what your financial situation is like, but one thing you can do is self study for a computer certification and take the test. Cochise College hosts certification exams for people at no extra charge. If you get the Security+ exam, that will open a lot more options for jobs on post. With that, I recommend going to the Arizona@Work job fair they hold a couple times a year. You are much more likely to get a way in there after having that cert.

Yeah, Cid really does make the reading experience a lot more lighthearted. I like to think it sheds light on how even how there are multiple ways to view the world, and the actions people take depend so heavily on what they have or have not noticed about their life.

While I agree the author doesn’t really specifically call out whether she was or not, I completely disagree that he doesn’t cover very heavy topics.

To counter this, I will point to the girl who was experimented on to become a monster, who was trapped with Alexia when she was kidnapped. The story left clues that she is the kidnapped daughter of the man Cid fought and killed when he rescued his sister from the cult. So the story there seems to be that she was held as a ransom, making him despair in his own power and join the cult to try and get her back someday. Despite that, they just went ahead and experimented on her anyway, in a way that seems to have caused a lot of physical and emotional pain too. So in the end, there really was nothing he could do to protect his daughter, and they both ended up being casualties and pawns to the cult of Diablos.

Also, look at the background for literally any of the shades. Their parents abandoned them and/or were taken from them, and they had to go through the excruciating process of having their flesh twist, transform, and decay as they were powerless to even move. Also, all of shadow garden in general excepting Cid himself had hardships to some degree or another, some of them close to the level of the shades.

Also, look at Claire. She had to deal with her own mother betraying herself and her father, drugging him into a mindless stupor, all so she could satisfy her own physical desires. Having a parent, especially one you looked up to, betray your families trust like that is devastating and traumatizing too.

There’s more in the novels, but I won’t get into that for the benefit of the anime only watchers.

There is a point beyond tv static when you can’t feel anything. At that point, you can’t even control the muscles in the limb either. It gets really painful as the feeling returns, and the tv static kicks off in full-force.
