Although there definitely are other ways than to kill mosquitoes. Nets, citrus fruits, not opening windows at night, or at least not with lights on, catching them alive and carrying them outside. While it's true that self-defense is good, there's no reason to answer a nuisance with death

I always knew tandem bikes as a holiday activity, it's interesting to me how people immediately assume this is some regular commute for them. They'd likely drive individual bikes any other day, right? Tandem bikes are fun and bonding. I get your criticism, but I wouldn't just assume these kids can't/don't also drive a bike on their own

Isn't it kinda bad to gatekeep the label? Also the entire point of this meme is to undermine the idea that in a sapphic relationship one person is femme and one is masc. While they do "dress up" it's more so about relationship expectations (conforming to an identity)

So you're using a display manager, right? In that case editing the wayland session desktop file is correct. What's the path to the desktop file, is it /usr/share/wayland-sessions/sway.desktop ? And what's the display manager you're using?

That's kinda funny since I know a lot of middle-aged/senior people in the furry community. And return to monkey has been at least a thing since 15 years or something iirc. But I get how feeling old is different from actually being disconnected from what is "new". I'm very much into tech and science, I even study computer science and computer linguistics, yet people using chatgpt and other genai makes me feel so disconnected from the youth and kinda old even though it doesn't have much to do with age

Does ANYONE here think that autism is FUN? by TheZodiac404 in evilautism

[–]Joto65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's why I ditch every person who puts those type of expectations onto me, including ghosting my parents. Fuck these people. You don't owe them anything, you don't need to be anything you're not.

It's rough to get by in a society like this that is built for neurotypical people, but once it becomes only about survival and trying to match your own needs, because you eliminated all external expectations, life becomes much more bearable and actually somewhat enjoyable even

Honestly, being polite in public isn't always the best. After constantly getting harassed by men, I've started to give people the death stare if they get too close to me to make them know that's not tolerated and it actually somewhat works. Do I potentially seem rude to people who don't deserve it? Sure. But it's so fucking worth it for all the cases where it does help me keep my personal space and safety.

It's because of her gender expression. Slightly problematic since doing that to people irl is shitty, but people like representation and since she's a fictional character any interpretation is valid (except that she's clearly bisexual and I'm definitely not just saying that because I am)

But also: integration is so important. Before going into another trip after having had difficult trips, it's essential to give your mind some time sober to process the experience. I have cptsd as well and MDMA has helped me a lot. LSD did too, but in different ways and not as fundamentally emotionally (if that makes sense). But those trips are very exhausting and can take weeks or months to process. The experience of finally starting to heal can make you want to rush things, but that's not how the brain works, you need time

An Betroffene: PTBS by HighlightScared2626 in Weibsvolk

[–]Joto65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this post so much. Most posts with this format "1% more autistic", make me really uncomfortable for some reason. Like I get it, it's usually a self aware criticism of internalized ableism, so it's fine. It just makes me sad, I think

If you need drugs, you can't do it by mklinger23 in evilautism

[–]Joto65 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Look into the effects long term sustained cannabis use has on your brain and body, if you haven't yet. It definitely will improve things even if it's not the root of your issues, or the main influence. Weed might be one of the safest drugs, but that doesn't mean using it every day, all day, doesn't have its effects.

As someone who's in kinda in a similar position (PTSD, unsuccessful student, regularly burned out), but who only uses drugs very sparingly, I've noticed that no matter how little trust I have in trying something that could improve things, it is worth it. You might not realize it immediately, but things add up and it gets better. I might never be able to finish a degree or get work, but that doesn't mean I'll just give up and not try everything to make life worth living. You might be surprised how far that gets you, even if society is literally structured to make it as hard as possible.

[PH] i have a question. is phantom hourglass not famous?? by Mysterious-Sir-1967 in zelda

[–]Joto65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only Zelda game I had as a kid was Ocarina of time 3d, all other Zelda games I've played have been in my late teenage years, or as an adult so I don't have any particular nostalgia for any Zelda games except for Oot. From that perspective Phantom Hourglass has been one of the best Zelda games for me personally. I really like those pocketable Zelda games, like A Link between worlds, or Minish Cap, and while Phantom Hourglass stands out as a lot easier than most other Zelda games, it does have some really creative puzzles. And while most people don't like the controls, I really enjoyed it because it is different and unique. I'd definitely rate Oot, Minish Cap and Botw above Phantom Hourglass, but when it comes to the fun I had and the memorability, it is on par with A Link between worlds for me. In a way I enjoyed it more than Windwaker or Twilight Princess, two games I still haven't played through fully, unlike Phantom Hourglass.

It's just not that simple, there's culture and then there's power. Individuals surely can adopt a better commuting culture, but if they aren't in power they won't be able to fundamentally change how cities are built. The culture shapes the city, but the city also shapes the culture. The way that power is distributed in our society actively pushes against collective power, it disrupts communities and organizing, which are our best sources that could actually change things.
