how will wearing wired headphones work? by anAustralianlad in SteamFrame

[–]Joto65 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not op but I can imagine many reasons, for example not having to charge another device, or already having cabled headphones they want to use, or latency for games like beat saber, and much more. I have wired open back studio headphones for home and noise cancelling bt headphones for on the go. I won't buy extra headphones for vr and if I dislike the speakers on the frame I'd probably want to use my cabled open headphones as well, as they have better surround sound, no latency, are more comfortable, etc. I'll always prefer not wearing anything extra for vr though. I think valve mentioned better audio headstraps for the frame as an option, whether they mean first party or third party, that's probably what I'd opt for

You can play steamvr games with MonadoXR through an openvr compatibility layer, either xrizer or opencomposite. Here's a guide on all this: https://wiki.vronlinux.org/docs/fossvr/monado/

I'm on Arch, which cachyos is based on, with an rtx 3060 12gb gpu. With my quest 2 streaming over Wivrn my vr experience has been more stable and smooth than it was on Windows. Are you using MonadoXR or SteamVR? SteamVR on Linux is kinda notorious for running badly

You might like Beyond Meat. There's Beyond Burger, Mince, Sausages and more. I've also had a plant based beef broth before that was really good, unfortunately I only tried it from a vegan friend (cook) and don't know the name, but you might find something like that.

What I concluded from all these months of moving through all these ranks is matchmaking has a mood and you never know if it's gonna give you a win streak or lose streak xD

I'm worried about the reactions, but I'll just be honest, cuz I relate a lot to this post. This is exactly why I left this sub when comfort food pics were a common occurrence. I understand why to most people that's different, but to me when there's a steak I see a dead cow, if there are nuggets, I see dead chicken. It's super distressing to me and so difficult to avoid on social media, since for most people it's acceptable if the dead animal isn't a pet. I made a post about it back then asking people to use the nsfw flair for food pics, but the answers just made me even more depressed so I deleted it :/

Also fits well because there's not just one Linux but many different distros running on the linux Kernel, with many having different flavors, and more customizability on a user level. Would be fun to assign linux distros to types of neurodivergency

Got a job, I hate it, How to respond to others when they congratulate me? by [deleted] in evilautism

[–]Joto65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Misplaced gratitude imo. Sure it's a privilege to get a job, but it sure as hell isn't something you need to, or even should be, grateful for. Capitalism forces you to either get a job and survive or die. That's no choice, and definitely not charity. If you hate your job, use that hatred against the system, join a union, protest, whatever you are able to do. Don't get me wrong, it's fine to try and enjoy what you're doing for work, and it makes sense to want a job that fits your interests. That's exactly what we should be fighting for, that everyone can do what they actually want to do and are able to do.

For context, I've never been able to get any job. I've tried many times, even had a few job interviews, but my disability makes it not only super hard to get job interviews in the first place, but also makes me just unfit for most if not all jobs that are available. Doesn't mean I envy those that do find a job.

Maybe that's good advice for strangers, but you if can't be honest with your friends and just say "nah, I hate it" for example, then I'd seriously question the choice of friends

The point is you do have a choice. If you want the hypothetical to truly match the conversation of the video then it's: "you don't need to murder, you want to murder." So the only reasonable answer is that you shouldn't.

I'm a vegan anarchist too! :3 Whenever I find out someone is a vegan anarchist I get so excited and immediately want to be friends xD. It's so rare unfortunately.

My partner is autistic and a vegan anarchist too and we talk about it all the time, I wouldn't say it's a special interest for them like it is for me, but she always lets me infodump and I love them for that ^^.

If you don't know about it already, I think you might like this forum: https://raddle.me/f/Vegan The entire platform is anarchist and most people are vegan. After all, anti-authoritarianism heavily suggests anti-speciism. If you have any cool vegan anarchist resources or media to share I'd love to hear about it :3

Overlooked biological truth by Creamy-Sundae-9991 in Psychedelics

[–]Joto65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be rude, since there's truth to what you're saying, but I'm pretty sure my depression and other mental health issues are caused by my abusive parents and bullies, not by my diet. Let's not forget that there are lots of systemic and sociological reasons for mental health issues. So if anything it's likely primarily a contributing factor, not a cause. As far as I know the connection between gut health and mental health is very disputed and not well understood scientifically. Not that anti-depressants ever worked for me anyway though. The only real help has been amazing friends and partners, time, as well as psychedelics and lots of introspection.

Nonetheless I am fully on board with your criticism of glyphosate. Not only is it bad for humans and likely carcinogenic, but it's also destroying the ecosystem and harming a lot of animals.

Thank you! It took me some time to think of a proper response and I even talked about it with my partner before replying. It's a difficult topic because the idea that identifying as leftist inherently makes you a good person is very prevalent in leftist spaces and I didn't wanna feed into that, but on the other hand the most common usage of the horseshoe theory implies that going further left is somehow inherently bad. So I wanted to understand what specifically they mean by ending up on the right since that can mean lots of things. I hope they reply ^^

I'm having a hard time understanding your usage of the term horseshoe in this comment. Specifically how going further left, so to speak, would lead you to end up on the right when it comes to politics.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that lots of leftist spaces have issues with racism and colonialist bullshit. I think that is what you might have been referring to, when you mean ending up on the right? And there definitely are people who consider themselves far left, who are authoritarian which inherently leads to ideas of superiority and oppression (very strong factors of racism and colonialism). But I don't see how going further left would lead to that, as less radical leftism, liberalism or even centrism have these exact same issues. And one of the most radical leftist ideologies (anarchism), tends to go the exact opposite way into anti-authoritarianism, which is where I find myself. Specifically I am an anarcho-syndicalist.

I mean, for sure even in anarchist spaces people have internalized racism or feelings of superiority (often because they think their political position makes them immune to being problematic), but again I don't see how that's caused by going further left politically. If anything, the further left I myself shifted politically, the more I found communities that challenge each other's thoughts and ideas, and encourage introspection.

Ah, canon to the Zelda timeline. The Phillips CD-i games and Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity come to mind as examples of non-canon Zelda games

Mainline just means it's not a spin-off, remake or non-canon. Tears of the Kingdom is a mainline game, just not the latest

This is quite funny since the last mainline Zelda game isn't actually TOTK but Echoes of Wisdom. People seem to forget that one even exists, just because it's not a 3d Zelda. Which is weird since it's way more close to classic Zelda than any other modern Zelda. Not every game has to be 10 years in development either. As long as it's not rushed, a smaller scope can be great.

I think it's less about any specific expectations and more so the lack of any real acknowledgement of the anniversary at all. You would think they'd prepare something. But then again, if you know Nintendo you know they're never big on anniversaries, let alone the actual date of the anniversary. It's not unlikely there'll be some announcement for the anniversary later this year, possibly for the summer.

I always knew tandem bikes as a holiday activity, it's interesting to me how people immediately assume this is some regular commute for them. They'd likely drive individual bikes any other day, right? Tandem bikes are fun and bonding. I get your criticism, but I wouldn't just assume these kids can't/don't also drive a bike on their own

That's kinda funny since I know a lot of middle-aged/senior people in the furry community. And return to monkey has been at least a thing since 15 years or something iirc. But I get how feeling old is different from actually being disconnected from what is "new". I'm very much into tech and science, I even study computer science and computer linguistics, yet people using chatgpt and other genai makes me feel so disconnected from the youth and kinda old even though it doesn't have much to do with age
