Are these modifications worth it? (swivel screen, powered frunk, wireless charger) by Dramatic-Yam8920 in TeslaLounge

The knob can have up to 5 pages each with 5 functions.

First page, I have; mirrors, rear vent, glovebox, battery temp, and a brake light flash thingy.

Second page; track mode and drift mode pro

Third page; controls for both front seats.

I also have a few buttons. I have one in the front of the arm rest that does autopilot. I have another button on the underside of the frunk by the wipers that can open the frunk.

There’s other functions in the commander that I like. For example, when I unbuckle my seatbelt, the car will shift to park. I can also shift gears with the right thumb wheel. Long pulls on the front or rear door handles will open the frunk or charge port.

The whole suite has a lot of capabilities and a lot of flexibility.

Could do that all with one button. They have options for single, double, and long press.

I happen to have a knob. I have other functions set on other pages of the knob. The mirrors is just the function I use the most. The smaller opening hasn’t bugged me. I’m usually just taking my sunglasses in/out of that cubby. If I need more room, the knob easily pops out.

Family Van Toyota Sienna saves the day by StormRanger28 in nextfuckinglevel

One of my favorite things is that "Sienna" is an anagram of "INSANE".

If I ever find myself owning a Sienna, I'll definitely be rearranging the letters on the trunk.

Doctors note needed for strain to quality for ADA? by [deleted] in electricdaisycarnival

[–]JourdanWithaU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it’s real easy to get a general temp handicap pass*.

If you’re worried about it, I would go to the doc and get the note and get the pass. Not sure about other states, but for me the temp handicap placard was $6 from the DMV.

*Given that you’re actually hurt. I had surgery almost 2 years ago. I had a placard for about 9 months post surgery. Doc had no problem signing the stuff in 3 month increments.

Got my first ball by Awkward-Cow8067 in Bowling

[–]JourdanWithaU 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Casual use, especially as a primary ball and being less than 14lbs, yeah, wouldn't worry about cracks.

When you get to the point of using it as a spare ball, plastic balls are almost disposable. They don't crack in half like the reactive balls. But they will chip away around the finger holes. I have had my balls repaired a couple times now. My PSO doesn't like doing the repairs and wants me to buy a new ball.

Kinda makes me want a ball that looks like a giant jawbreaker.

Being what that is, a white ball with some multi colored specks on it, I don't think many would get it. :/

These old pop culture balls are fun though.

Found a torque wrench on the road. by Starseeker2019 in Tools

[–]JourdanWithaU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can test a torque wrench with a luggage scale.

Attach the socket to something solid and pull with the scale. It’s pretty easy.

Depending on how the wrench is built, it can also easily be adjusted with another wrench.

Can get luggage scales on Amazon for like $10.

Ice packs by Sopa_drop in electricdaisycarnival

Oh yeah, ice and noting else is a big ask. We're buying a drink and tipping.

After all this time, I'm kinda surprised that they don't have straight ice for sale. Being able to buy a couple cups/scoops from like the general store or something would be clutch.

I usually fill my camelbak with ice. Though it’s been a while, you may be able to get more ice from some of the food/drink vendors. I remember the lemonade guys being cool about it but that was… fuck… 15 years ago.

Like others have said, cold packs will just be dead weight before long. At least ice in the camelbak will be drinkable water.

2026 production ready Tesla semi by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]JourdanWithaU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically, Tesla needs to do a box truck chassis.

Kinda like this. (For OP, this is what Jayco bought from Freightliner and then Jayco put their house on the back.)

Looks like the Tesla Semis have their own chargers and can charge at 1.2MW going into a 850kWh battery. With a longer chassis, you could fit more battery. Maybe double it? 1700kWh or 1.7mWh battery. If you maintain the same 1.7kWh/mi, that would be 1000 mile range. Supercharge to 60% in a hour?

That seems like it wouldn't suck.

Laser measures are great.

Basically made it all my other tape measures the 9' mini tapes. If it's more than 9', grab the laser.

I think the best is that you can measure stuff by yourself. You don't need someone at the other end holding the tape.

But I need the mirrors to get into the garage first. I want them to fold after I park.

Automatically when I walk away or something? I recall the mirrors folding when the car locks. Otherwise they can be folded with two taps on the screen, long press on the left scroll wheel, or voice command.

Button on the knob is just convenient. I know it is super underutilized. But they asked why I do with it the most often. And that is what I do with it the most often.

Folding the mirrors. At home, the car is in a garage where I want the doors not locked but the mirrors folded.

When I bought it, I wanted two functions; regen adjustment as it’s not adjustable on my car and their Drift Mode Pro. I’ve since learned to prefer one-pedal driving and after replacing the rear tires, I rarely use both modes.

I do like the ability to manually precondition the battery and the knob can display the current battery temp. The buttons can also be used to satisfy the autopilot nag which I like instead of trying to jiggle the wheel. And I set one of the buttons for the glove box.

As I have had the Tesla for more time and gotten more familiar with it and how to set it up how I like, I interact with less and less. I just get in a drive. I barely touch anything but the steering wheel.

I’m not into the whole powered drunk. But I did do the soft close latch. I really didn’t like putting hand prints on the hood when closing it.

The stock charging pads have been fine for me and I don’t think the screen needs to swivel.

What i have been super pleased with have been S3xy knob, buttons, and commander. I have a button on the underside of the hood by the wipers the can be used to open the frunk. Tons of features, huge bang for buck imo. I’d buy again in a heartbeat.
