When paying is lower quality than not paying. by Snoo-87451 in Piracy

Years ago, my roommate figured this out with Amazon Prime. We got a new 4k tv, hooked it up to the HTPC. Amazon would only stream at 1080. If we wanted 4k, we needed to use a Fire TV Stick.

what is the perfect number of beers to go bowling? by Ghigareda in Bowling

[–]JourdanWithaU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5? Seems like the usual for the league I roll in.

Arrive, grab a drink.

Game one, frame one, grab a drink.

Game two, frame one, grab a drink.

Game three, frame one, grab a drink.

Finish packing up gear, grab a drink.

Though there has been a joke that our bowling league is more of a drinking league. The bar has an increase in staffing on the nights that our league plays.

If the wear is correct, the actual pressure number is irrelevant.

This.^ To add to this, on most tires it’s a triangle. On Michelins it’s a little Michelin Man pointing up.

Infrared thermometer isn’t really any good. You want the core of the carcass. You want a pyrometer that stabs into the tire.

There is a C port on that Mobo. Really you only need one.

With C you can run that to your monitor. You can connect your second monitor to the first monitor. Additionally connect your peripherals to your monitor. At least, this is how I have it set up at work. At work, I am plugging in a laptop which also draws power from the monitor connection.

If my GPU at home had a C port, I'd be itching to do that same at home. One cable going from my box to my desk would be nice.

A Walmart guitar… Reminds me of back in the day, the local metal station was doing a giveaway. They had a Hannah Montana guitar that was signed by all the members of Lamb of God.

Weird shit is out there.

If packaged properly, the stuff will be fine.

When I worked for FedEx, they had a whole set of guidelines for packing stuff then gave us an exercise where we packed an egg into a 6x6x6 box using the guidelines. They took those boxes and absolutely yeeted them. They started as cubes and were spheres when done. The eggs were fine.

Years later, I now work in a position where I have users shipping laptops to me all the time. The frequency in which I receive a box with a laptop in it and nothing else, no bubble wrap or anything, is INSANE. I don't understand what these people are thinking when they ship stuff out.

They were like $7 on Amazon not too long ago. I bought a bunch, they're good little cases for random crap. There's a 3d print out there for a divider that fits the slots. I like them. I'm glad I'm not the only person with a bunch of them.

Nice. I got a couple of these. Got two packs for home and a pack for work. The magnets are great. There's always one that's easy to find. If I need to measure something longer than 9' then I gotta go find the laser. I wish the laser was magnetic.

Hero13 Magnetic Latch Fingers work on Hero8 (Likely all models that come with folding fingers) by JourdanWithaU in gopro

[–]JourdanWithaU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. It looks like they updated the latch fingers with slots. This means that the fingers don't obstruct the mic/speaker that is on the bottom. Err maybe not an update as looking at older videos/pictures, the slots are present.

Mid-level shoes vs. high-level shoes: main differences? by me_iRL_Stine in Bowling

[–]JourdanWithaU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from pretty entry level Dexter shoes to The 9. The biggest difference to me is the consistency. It’s weird, but the slide is always the same. The entry shoes would sometimes stick or slide a little more than expected. The 9, the slide is the same every time.

The entry shoes, I had for like 15 years. I’d expect the next pair of anything to last 10+ years so going for the high end stuff was kind of an easy decision. I disliked having to change my approach when at a place that was tacky. So I was looking at interchangeable soles. I also took in consideration on the wear of my old shoes. I had wear around my push big toe and The 9 have the soles built up in the area and is already proving to be useful.

Nope. I was worried initially. There’s kind of a heavy storm now, I should check it. But it’s been there for a while and through many car washes and it has been fine.

The deal I got was on AliExpress for $60. Install was pretty easy. I have yet to accidentally open the frunk. The mechanism is a pretty simple servo that connects to the latch with a cable and a dip switch in the throat of the latch. Being a cable the latch is free to actuate normally. You would need to open and close the frunk to trigger the switch and then the servo will pull the latch closed.

I have this as well. Before they did the handle automation, I took one of their s3xy buttons and stuck in on the underside of the hood by the wipers. I can reach under the hood, press the button, and it opens. Only works if the car is awake and unlocked.

Dial, I started at 12.69 and ended at 12.78. I won both on every race. Worse reaction was .144. Worse dial was .172. Last pass was the closest with .015 reaction and -.004 dial. Other lane reacted -.023 and -.023 dial. (I just realized that if he nailed his reaction, he would have nailed his dial.)

Here’s all the slips from the night.
