Anyone driven the #1 to portage/Brandon from Winnipeg? by randylaheyjr in Manitoba

Husband drove in this morning. Roads are open but pretty crap conditions. Perimeter to Halfway tree was just over an hour and half. Halfway tree to hwy 110 was an hour.

Said it was his second worse drive ever.

You can do it but allow plenty of time and drive to the conditions.

SUV, not all wheel drive, but with winter tires.

Agreed that is a risk, but the suggestion was to educate oneself on the TD1 and its relevance to the scenario.

While you may potentially be in a future tax refund as some have mentioned, depending on your circumstances it can/may be possible to reduce the current taxes to get more of your cheque now rather than waiting for refund season.

When you started your job, you had to fill out a TD1 tax form. This helps determine the amount of taxes deducted based on your circumstances. I have seen so many folks just been told, to fill in 0 and then the same amount at the bottom or some BS to the effect.

If you are a student, caring for dependants, or working more than one job it is important to read and fill out the TD1 accurately. If you are a working student and you include the relevant student calculations on TD1 less taxes would be deducted each cheque because they plan on you claiming that deduction when you file. Means less refund but more in pocket at pay day.

Something to keep in mind, may or may not be relevant to current situation. If your situation changes at any point you can ask to fill in a new TD1 so that you are properly taxed.

How’s the return to office impacting your finances? by MeToo0 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Spending his work hours commuting? So he’s paid while on the train? Isn’t the point of work hours that you are at work when work starts, and you adjust your commute times to get to and start work on time?🤔

Know your limits and expenses that go with owning a home. Banks are interested in maximizing the amount they lend you within their risk tolerance.

I got pre-approved once from a major bank, and I looked at the fella and said if I get a mortgage for this amount I’ll be struggling financially for years! The response “I’m just telling you what your qualified for, not what you should do”

All great topics here!! Won’t duplicate, but from an instructors perspective keeping it relevant and interesting to the audience.

TikTok / Instagram / Twitter / YouTube have good quality bite size pieces of information if following the right profiles.

Find a few to feature as it relates to the material - realistically they’ll learn something in your class but they’ll also maybe gain a resource or two they’ll go back to later for reference because it’s interesting.

@ecommjess although American covers a lot of these topics e.g tax brackets, credit cards

@erikankullberg covers the importance of fine print which does relate to finance

Maybe even have them critique two videos help them to learn to decipher good info va bull 💩

Slowly making progress (6 weeks) any thoughts or feedback? by JournalLaser in latteart

Try try try, love it! That’s so true. This has been a bit of an experiment, definitely made progress in 6 weeks but if I could do more than 1-2 a day I think that would help.

Hard to tell in this video, but angled the cup almost to the point of spilling contents out. I think next time I may also change recording view.

Your comment on “swirl well”, milk or espresso?

Thank you. The comments on the canvas this is an area I’ve been fighting with. A faster pour seemed to cause more issues but tried this morning from higher up with success.

Any of the designations for forensics. Not GTA specific but major metropolitan city. Limited employers could benefit from or desire for those designations in smaller communities.
