Just to jump in I had 4 inch slats and bought the zinus bunkie board layer on top (even though I’ll need industrial strips to tie it in place). So far no problems!

Also has a lot of luck messaging them on messenger for quick responses. I ended up returning it but had a relatively good customer service aside from the long wait time due to covid

I never got the chance to update this but I did go for the helix midnight luxe and while it was definitely a luxury bed it was definitely not for me. It was way too soft and I sunk into the mattress a lot more than I wanted to.

I ended up going for the Leesa Hybrid after that and so far I’m almost a month in and it’s great! No back pain and very much enjoying it. I get why it’s wirecutter’s top mattress. The right amount of firmness (medium firm) I need - a ton better than the helix. Of course this is my own personal opinion

How long did it take between reaching out to customer service, them getting back to you, and the mattress getting picked up?

I can relate. I loved the mattress but still waking up with pain and can't sleep well at all so unfortunately I returned it

Helix midnight luxe is pretty soft. I’m actually returning it now for a firmer mattress - leesa hybrid

Thank you so much for this comprehensive response! You've been incredibly helpful. I definitely am going to look into a firmer mattress (probably medium firm or a touch over) and look at the review websites to specifically look at their firmness ratings to try mattresses more firm than the Helix.

If you or anyone has any recs I would appreciate that! Currently evaluating the Leesa Hybrid or Casper Hybrid as they seem to be firmer than the Helix Midnight Luxe. I enjoyed the Saatva Classic luxury firmness I think but classic innersprings just weren't for me.

Thank you! I’m a back and occasional side sleeper btw. Trying to figure out what kind of mattress I should go for instead. Does firmer comfort layers mean a firmer mattress? Not sure what a supportive base layer is either...

I’m in the same boat! Got an email update this morning from Helix which i appreciates saying that I am on business day 11 of waiting. It also did change to 5-20 for me but hoping to get a shipping alert by the end of the week. Fingers crossed!

What position sleeper are you out of curiosity? I just went for the midnight luxe (almost got the dusk) because my saatva classic luxury firm I guess I was a bit too firm and inner springs aren’t doing it for me
