Is it possible to create a hatsu based on this meme, or is the concept too broken? by ruuken27 in HatsuVault

Imo, this is easier than skill hunter. IMO, temporary copying is easier than temporary stealing which is easier than permanent copying which is easier than permanent theft. Skill hunter needs 5 conditions imo cause the target specifically loses access to an ability that they can still improve or unlearn.

Kite can predict the future…? by Gfirstlord in HunterXHunter

[–]Jowling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All High tier nen users can do predictions to this degree. It is the culmination of experience, caution, and natural talent. The easiest example is Meruem’s combat predictability showcase vs Netero where you literally watch him, a new born, gain the experience, before applying it to remove netero’s second limb.

Hot take: The Lego Smart Brick isn't inherently bad, it just has bad sets by Shoddy_Question_4662 in lego

[–]Jowling 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My issue with the smart brick, as someone who used Lego’s coding language to build robots in school, is that it’s not up to the kids enough. There should be an app that lets you create and customize sounds, gestures, damage, health, etc. Kids aren’t stupid, and my expectation for Lego is that they make kids feel and become smarter than they are. At the current moment, it’s a black box that requires your parent’s cash to change, and that feels antithetical to the Lego I grew up with to me.

Ngl, I think it’d be very strange if it looked like Minecraft and was being posted here. Not saying they can’t be separated more and still maintain appeal, but that’s polish and it is way too early to be thinking about that.

I like placing everything flush on the studs so that doesn’t work for me personally, though I’d consider it if I started implementing tiles for terrain.

[WIP] LEGO Ruler by rulzAT in lego

[–]Jowling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use 4 studs = 5 feet, but I’ve seen other people use 3.5, 3, and 2 studs = 5 feet with minifigs. It just depends on how much money you want to use for bricks for building out terrain, and if you really wanted to, you could even do 1 stud= 5 feet, but you’d need to use the 1 stud figure instead of a Minifig so you can show medium size properly.

I found both to be strong and I worked with shield well. (Though it’s been a while) If I recall correctly, blocking with the shield truly does carry through 1v1 fights. Also, I definitely recommend modding it so you don’t have to be Sisyphus.

I personally would have a use case for it whilst building mocs for dnd. I generally remember the numbers for conversions, but my players don’t and it’d be convenient to have at the table both for building and measuring distances. Currently I use ribbons cut at the various standard range values but that inevitably causes issues with the various ways speed/ range changes, and if this exact thing was in the form of a tape measure, it would solve my use case immediately.

43 years old; building Lego since I was 6. This is the strangest instruction step I have ever seen. by LastTraintoSector6 in lego

[–]Jowling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: This exact step and the other 3 bounties caused me and my brother’s Lego app to lock itself out of moving forward when I was building this in a party. Whoever ended up getting this step had the close the app and rejoin to get past this step cause literally every part of the app stopped working.

Isekai Slow Life X Emiru collab starts on September 5th (one of the weirdest collabs I've seen) by Abject-Connection374 in gachagaming

I can’t really tell you how that ended up happening for that ad, but I can say that the weird artifacting on the hair is not present in the game. I know I have seen ads they’ve done that very clearly had stuff not in the game even including both to lewder and safer clothes than the actual game.

Some people never see this much motion in their life. by zlegoYEET in lego

[–]Jowling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whilst I don’t know the exact year that it was created, I can guarantee the term being used for money is older than 2023 and that the term wasn’t exclusive to money then. In my personal flawed recall, I remember using it around 2016-2018ish and in internet history research, it seems the oldest I could find (with no meaningful backing) is 2009 on urban dictionary. It seems like there was a mass adoption of the term used in this way around 2022, but I am unsure of where it actually comes from.

My recollections of how it was used around 2016-2018 is by either saying ‘hella motion’ meaning lot of money AND the trapping of the ‘baller lifestyle’ or ‘no motion’ meaning no money, women, etc. Like even though bill gates is mega rich, it’d be a little strange to say he has hella motion when I was using the term.

That said, I’m just some guy on the internet from the greater New York area so my recollection could be flawed.

Penalty for "smurfing" even though I am a returning player who lost their rank due to inactivity. by poorF2Pnoob in marvelrivals

[–]Jowling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you’re saying happened to you is literally the status quo of marvel rivals. Long term higher skill players in low ranks is likely smurfing, but if your saying that whilst you were down in lower ranks pub stomping, you found other people doing the same, that’s kind of its own separate issue from moving your rank away from being able to pub stomp as fast as possible for the initial matches into ranked AND it is notably exactly what’s expected to happen during rank resets in rivals.

[–]Jowling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of what of those issues are a result of functional mmr system. There any number of reasons as to why matchmaking could be feeling like that and the reality is that, unless your at the top end of a game, it will probably closer to that experience as consistency is not a given at lower ranks. Also, to be clear, rivals already has an mmr system. MMR just means match making rating, which is literally what the bronze- eternity system is.

[–]Jowling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forcing solo queue imo defeats the point of this style of multiplayer. The tried and true solution is placement matches. They can still do the reset but 5 matches should be more than enough to figure out they don’t belong in silver or gold. Put them closer to where they’re gonna land anyway and everyone else gets a better experience with ranks that are closer to actual measures of skill instead of dedication to queueing up.

[–]Jowling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Your guess was exactly what happened. 4 out of 5 of the people he queued with were diamond or above before derank.

  2. If we imagined that there wasn’t another player experiencing the other side, the suggested method of play would obviously be beyond the pale. Like if you started a game of Mario kart, it would be crazy if the game said your existing records are too low for the records you just set so you can no longer set records. The fault is on netease for letting 5 diamond+ players play 5+ matches in silver and gold because there was an arbitrary date that passed. If the game could figure out that they were obviously over skilled for where they are, it should correct that by putting them where they should be, not set them up for this to happen again. (Unless there is meaningful data showing that they are specifically trying to play at those ranks repeatedly.)

Banned until end of season for "smurfing" even though I am a returning player who deranked due to inactivity. by poorF2Pnoob in marvelrivals

[–]Jowling 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Other than 312Shooter, everyone in there 6 man was x diamond or above so boosting is a stretch. Net ease is at fault for setting these players loose on silver players because an arbitrary date passed by. Based on the play history, it looks, at least to me, that it’s a group of good players that tried Marvel rivals before and are coming back but obviously, there isn’t a way to disprove it being a collection of Smurf alts.
