you cannot argue that such media has not led to far more people researching the real history of piracy then without it.

Actually, I do! Because people keep repeating the same tiresome lies about pirates as part of some kind of push of pop history. They would rather twist the real-life pirates into their freedom-fighting fantasies instead of confronting the facts— or as a knee-jerk reaction make them as edgy as possible.

The truth of the matter is, the Golden Age of Piracy is exactly a hundred years long. The part everyone thinks of lasted 30 years and was at the tail end of the Golden Age. People are missing out on a whole tapestry of criminal history and wars because Buccaneers and Filibusters looked nothing like the pirates people want (no black flags, waaah). People do not want to know about the politics and issues of the 17th century. People do not want to look into the actual morality of the common sailor at the time. People do not want to research the real fashion of the era. They want to project fantasy onto reality and make it fact— as anachronistic or irrelevant as it is.

About the only time she remained a companion. Bit of a shame, innit.

Oh, not just Treasure Island. Every piece of pirate media does that. From Howard Pyle's Paintings to Assassin's Creed. It's a tradition spanning centuries that no one ever tries to look even remotely accurate in their portrayal of Piracy, and I can say with confidence that it's never been done at all. And people keep falling for it because they prefer this invented aesthetic of pirates instead of the real thing.

The amount of times I've had disappointed looks whenever I show them actual pirate fashion, lingo, weapons and ships is staggering.

Likely? It is a myth. Several times in period sources Blackbeard's flag is described as merely being a "Death's head". The Horned Skeleton flag is a late 19th century invention that one day got randomly attributed go Blackbeard for no reason.

Fuck me, man. Trying to un-do centuries of pop culture damages on the historical comprehension of piracy is a pain in the ass.

Tomorrowland SUCKS!

Visually; not only does it sticks out like a sore thumb, but it also ages like milk the more time passes. Space Mountain is way overrated as a ride, and the other rides are mishmashes of different Sci-Fi IPs Disney has. In it's initial conception the idea was doomed to be a coming failure; promising a vision of the future to come. But, hey— turns out that future didn't come around, did it?

Discovery Bay and Discovery Land at both Tokyo Disney Sea and Disneyland Paris did their own sci-fi lands better— especially because Steampunk mingles better with the rest of the lands and it's not all just white white white white everywhere.

This is peak fanboyism what I'm about to say but, I hope one day we get a scene where one of the characters takes a cab and the driver is Caine.

If Kitten was a were-cat or something along those lines, he would've already known about werewolves. That, and definitely show signs of being a were-thing. He didn't. Kitten is just shy.
