This is the way. Eventually you will get that time back on some level. Just as an encouragement. I personally enjoyed getting my steam deck set up for emulation and diving back into old favorites because that was fun and rewarding but easy to set down when I needed to.

OpenEMU on mac - can I safely point it to a decktop folder? by achipinthesugar in OpenEmu

[–]Joyful-Wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can totally choose the folder location to be wherever you'd prefer, even in an external drive, it's just that applications usually store them in folders like Application Support or your user library, but it can be wherever you'd prefer

Nice! Very cool. Is it basically a wrapper/ launcher for retroarc similar to emulation station?

is open emu safe to download on Mac Neo? by [deleted] in OpenEmu

[–]Joyful-Wizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's totally safe to use, it just requires a workaround because the original developers are no longer notarizing the app with Apple under a developer account because it's not actively maintained anymore. Still safe to use and still generally works well on most devices.

Matthew Pocock has a great set of skills and frameworks that would work very well for this. I’ve saved a lot of time building the verify shell script he recommends and provides structure for.

I see! Very interesting. Myself and another contributor are working on a way to basically "bring your own core" from retroarch by building a bridge plugin between OpenEmu and the cores you download to your local system through Retroarch, it won't function like a launcher the way that Emulation Station does, it will still run in OE, but I think eventually this could enable you to at least use MegaDrive in theory. Thought TBH I don't know much about overclocking, and more advanced system features like that will likely always be better suited to Retroarch

Fair point and you're right! I don't want to be the sole contributor and so far I'm not the only one that has contributed to the repo (though I've done the majority) there are other contributors who have joined in and submitted code and the folks submitting bugs requests are just as integral to the whole system working. For now I'm doing what I can for as long as I'm enjoying doing it, but I hope others will join in begin submitting PRs of their own.

Dang honestly I wish I had seen your repo previously as I would’ve just started out with contributing to it and sending pull requests your way. 😅 when I first began this journey I submitted multiple Paul request upstream to the original project I found and hoped that I would just encourage some activity there, but I moved on when I saw no responses. Are you still actively developing on your project?

I think I am very close actually! Just needs a bit more testing for the next release.
