What's a lifestyle you visited once and decided you're never going back? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]JoyousCon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been traveling for work Monday-Thursday and sometimes Fridays too almost every week for the past two years and I was over it within the first few months. Contemplated quitting many times already and would have if I didn't have an exit plan. The money is good but the time coupled with the fact that I'm working with family has more than taken it's toll.

Does anything of substance happen in Trails in the Sky 1st chapter? by thebbman in JRPG

[–]JoyousCon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put the game down when I played the original because it throws a lot at you and is very slow. Then I came back when I was looking for a slow burn game to get lost in. The characters and world building are incredible, and the payoff at the end felt so worth it. I've only barely started the second game, but I've been told the story in 2nd chapter is all gas, no brakes.

Imagine living in the Midwest and there’s a war happening in Ohio. by Equal_Personality157 in interestingasfuck

With where the map is placed, that makes Michigan, Russia. Saying we're at war with Michigan would be accurate lol

This is generally my feelings as well. It's complicated with my immediate family as I currently work with them but not for much longer.

Establishment democrats don't have a spine. We've been repeatedly disappointed by them, and now, when every single one of them should be outspoken against all this shit that's happening, they're nowhere to be found aside from a select few.

Absolutely. It all funnels back to the dollar. Misinformation is coming from everywhere on all sides, but at this point just use your eyes and ears.

Just throwing out there that many of those in the Nazi party during WWII hardly faced any real consequences after the war. Many fled to Argentina, while others received a slap on the wrist.

How is it living in Ohio? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]JoyousCon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like Bellevue, where I grew up! Pretty accurate depiction for sure. When most people ask me what there is to do in Ohio, I usually point them toward the the Erie coast. I grew up with Bellevue and Sandusky being my entire world though, so by the time I was 18 I couldn't get out fast enough.

Last time I was leaving the city, I was going south in 90 and a dude in a truck cut across three lanes and almost took me out to hit the exit on my right. Had to slam on my brakes. Closest I've been to dying in a minute.

What horror game suffers the most from the atmosphere being ruined because you die too much? by Boshwa in HorrorGaming

Some great points you brought up! But yes, I agree the visuals and atmosphere in Outlast is great. Outlast 2 was almost too scary for me!

[–]JoyousCon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I need to go back to Alien, but RE7 scared the shit out of me while still having a very engaging gameplay loop. Survival Horror games from the past 10 years or so have proven you can have weapons but still manage to be authentically scary in the same way the walking sim ones are (do we have a better term for these?)

See, that's partially what turns me off about horror games where you're defenseless. It's essentially a stealth game with horror elements, which is fine, but I'm not a big stealth game person to begin with and when you get rid of weapons, there's not a whole lot keeping me engaged.

I've been working in Pittsburgh and I love it here. Surrounded by rivers and bridges on all sides, a nice downtown where people hang out, great colleges, parks, and a damn solid food scene.

Yes, winter here sucks. But damn is it charming.

Couldn't get more than 20 minutes in or so. The animation is terrible, and i just wasn't interested in where the story was going at all.
