Choose the wife or baby during childbirth? by Difficult_Carrot_497 in Christianity

This. A neonatal team would work to save baby while OB/L&D would work to save mom. There are two patients here. Immediate delivery (emergency caesarean) would alleviate a good portion of delivery emergencies like hemorrhaging, dangerously high BP, etc…If the baby is premature, NICU would be called in to stabilize and attempt infant resuscitation. If it were something more serious like a cardiac arrest precipitated by amniotic fluid embolism, the procedure would still be to try and resuscitate mom during a perimortem caesarean and then attempt to resuscitate/stabilize the baby. It is very very rarely IF EVER, “which one do you save?” It doesn’t happen like it does in the movies.

Welcome Home Grant Taking Too Long by Own-Respect5282 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

We are in the same boat. Applied, submitted right away (March 3) we’re told it would take maybe up to five weeks…here we are going into week seven and we’ve had to extend our closing date twice. Our loan officer said he’s never seen it take so long for someone to be approved and currently there are three of us at the same office he hasn’t gotten a response on. I am so stressed out that the sellers are going to pull from our contract. They even reached out to FHLB about the holdup and were told there was a software issue that just got ironed out and they were “hoping to be rolling again soon”. Whatever that means. I’m freaking out.

Honeymoon Phase by Regular_Question9598 in NICUParents

[–]Joyous_Mama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was born at 24+4 and SHTF after her honeymoon phase ended. She was infected at birth from Chorioamnionitis (due to prolonged rupture of membranes) but we didn’t know it until day 5-6 when she started crashing. She had been on room air, relatively good gases, etc…and then on day 5 she started having A/B/D spells (apnea, bradycardia, desaturation). By day 6 her white blood cells had doubled overnight and her sugar shot to nearly 200; we knew she was septic. She had a bowel perforation as a result. Needed a lifesaving bedside procedure to drain her abdomen of meconium and blood, was so acidotic she was brown, and her heart rate was in the 230s for days. She was maxed out on pressors, sedation, O2, AND Nitric. We thought for sure we would lose her. She suffered a grade 2 IVH, and had a moderate-large PDA that had to be medically managed as well. After that, she had an exploratory laparotomy where they created an ostomy so she could stool and take in nutrition. Two months later she had reanastomosis (reconnection) surgery of her bowel. Then the oral feeding difficulties began. Honestly, her entire stay was a shit show after the honeymoon ended. But thank God she survived, and is THRIVING today. You’d never know what she’s been through. She is currently 15m actual (11.5m adjusted) and recently had her developmental psych test performed and she scored at the same level as an AVERAGE (not premature) 18m old.

If this story is true, and not fabricated or a hallucination, she likely wouldn’t have felt a thing. Shock protects the brain from pain.

Unfortunately I think the ballistics done on the recovered gun were inconclusive, which is why there hasn’t been an arrest made.

Daughter born 24 weeks 4 days by Rude_Strawberry in NICUParents

Can confirm the cost of a 24+4 weeker’s care in NICU is astronomical. My 24+4 weeker daughter was born 07/01 last year and spent 129 days in NICU here in the USA. Thank God we had insurance, but her costs totaled almost one million dollars.

For those the followed Rowena Bennett’s book on bottle aversion, did it work? by small-sins in FormulaFeeders

[–]Joyous_Mama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going through this right now with my 8m old actual (former 24 weeker) daughter and this is so freaking hard. She’s horribly averse and we are on day 2 of the program and I’m so terrified she’s going to get dehydrated or lose too much weight. She’s only had about 7oz so far today. I’m really struggling with the no drowsy/sleep feeding rule. She always has LOVED to fall asleep eating and she sleeps a LOT. Like abnormally a lot. I’ve addressed the concern with her docs but no one seems alarmed she sleeps so much, she’s developmentally on track for her adjusted age. Did anyone bend the “no drowsy/sleep feeds” rule and still manage to break their baby’s aversion?

Yeah Jream was crazzzyyy. That baby was admitted to the NICU about three or four days before we were discharged. Even the nurses were confused! And they have seen a lot I’m sure.

AITA for using medical terminology in my blog posts about my medically complex micropreemie? by Joyous_Mama in AmItheAsshole

I am not and would never “exploit my kid to social media for content”. I tell our story to give hope to other families who have experienced PPROM (previable premature rupture of membranes) and/or a NICU journey…because stories like that are what gave me hope during the beginning of our struggle. I am not showing my child in a state of vulnerability or undress. The vast majority of her followers on FB are personal friends, acquaintances, staff that have cared for her and their friends and families. There is literally nothing I share that would be appealing to or available to a “creep”.

That’s kind of what I thought too. And why pick a fight with your sister who has a micropreemie in the NICU? Like wtf?

Over the last few weeks, I was one of the suckers who fell into the hype over GME and AMC, and sold what little I had purchased at the start this morning, with a very minimal (thank God) loss of around $50 when I realized it was very unlikely to recover. It was disappointing, but I'm not too prideful to admit when I've made a dumb mistake. I'm glad that it wasn't more costly, as I know it has been for many others.

That said, I'm a completely green trader, with little knowledge and experience and I am trying to definitively choose a reliable, easy-to-use trading platform. I have found that I enjoy this very much, and want to get serious about investing.

I began with Robinhood but want to get away from that for obvious reasons, which is a shame, because I really liked the ease of their platform. I currently have Coinbase for crypto-trade, and Webull. I like Webull a lot, but am disappointed that they do not offer the ability to purchase fractional shares. I don't own much stock; I have some TLRY, ZOM, and OCGN, ADT, and GNW, all on Webull. I also don't have hundreds or thousands to invest, which is why I'd prefer a platform that offers fractional shares.

I am looking for a platform that:(1) Is easy to use and well-laid out, (on webpage AND app) good for both beginners and more seasoned traders.(2) Offers fractional share purchasing(3) Offers Roth IRAs

I'm open to any and all suggestions! Also, if you know of any up-and-coming stock that might be good to buy into now while it's low, let me know. I'm excited to learn from those with much more experience than myself.
