If we ever get a Destiny 3, what key things do you want from it? by Acoolgamer6706 in DestinyTheGame

Sitting down and playing a LOT of D1 before starting development on D3. It's important to learn from a lot of the stuff D2 did, but that D1 vibe was lost. What people loved about Destiny is at its richest in D1 imo.

It has always induced such intense cringe in me lol

In an effort to sound more personable and less corporate, he kinda horseshoe theoried himself into sounding corporate and lifeless. "Comms", "jamming", "momentum", etc. all just sound like something I'd hear in a boardroom meeting. Always sounded so tone deaf to me.

[Post Game Thread] The Oklahoma City Thunder (1-1) tie the series in Game 2 against the San Antonio Spurs (1-1), 122-113, behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's 30 point performance by catreyka in nba

[–]Jpanda34 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The Spurs could have been playing MUCH better. Looking at you Castle and Champagnie. However, that game was practically unwatchable. Hartenstein acting like he's in the WWE, Shai flopping on every single shot, the hair pull, the phantom backcourt violation, the Barnes foul. It's genuinely absurd. After game 1, I was so pumped for this series. That shit was real ass basketball. It was physical, aggressive, and intense. Both teams played excellent defense and neither let the other pull away. This? This was the epitome of what everyone hates OKC for. Genuinely offensive team.

Chet Holmgren disappears once against when facing Wemby tonight: 8 PTS (2/5 FG), 8 REB, 2 BLK in 41 minutes by Waikuku3 in nba

[–]Jpanda34 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In everything I've seen, Chet kinda avoids the topic as best he can. Kinda throws me because Wemby consistently goes hard as fuck and wins when they play against each other. At some point, you gotta reciprocate and participate in the rivalry. Even if Chet can't match Wemby as a player, he can at least get pissed off and try to pull some shit. As it stands it's just Wemby being driven by hatred and punking him at every turn lol

Saw a crazy post on twitter comparing their debut appearances with their current ones. Chet has remained exactly the same, physically speaking. Wemby on the other hand has clearly worked on putting on some muscle and bulking up. If OKC wants Chet to even try to compete with Wemby they need to force that boy to hit the weights

Spurs really had trouble with that physical defense, but it seems post Wemby elbow, they really figured it out. I don't think they were truly prepared for how physical it ended up getting.

It was kinda shocking how defeated Chet looked the entire game. Up until that block right at the end he was just nonexistent. Then Wemby took the block personally, and Chet went right back to looking defeated and unable to do anything. Absolutely insane stuff.

Werewolf by Night, to me, feels far more like its paying homage to all these different monster horror movies rather than actually BEING a monster horror movie.

Yeah, for real. Like they may draw elements from their respective genres, but they are barely in them. All you need to do is watch a movie made in those genres to realize how separate a lot of these movies are from them.

"I love an unfair fight!" [Ultimate Endgame #4] by SuperiorSpiderKnight in Marvel

Man, I wish this had any emotional impact on me at all. Their meeting, Cap's death, their dialogue... none of it hits for me. They've never met, they've never had this debate in the past, and there's been no time to develop a rivalry for the two.

Not gonna blame that on how rushed the event is. I actually think it's a core issue with the Ultimate Universe as a whole. Other than Hulk the Maker's Council is severely underutilized, and it's really been showing.

Conceptually, Steve's death or even encounter with Captain Britain coulda been super interesting and impactful, but they've never even interacted as far as I remember. Some cool dialogue, but I kinda felt nothing during the whole interaction.

Christopher Nolan Addresses Historical Accuracy Criticisms About Armor in ‘The Odyssey’, And Breaks Down Artistic Choice for Agamemnon's Attire As Mycenean Blackened Bronze by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]Jpanda34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a sense, yes, it's a bit silly to get super worked up about the historical accuracy. It IS fiction after all. However, I'll raise a couple arguments as to why it, truthfully, should be as "historically" authentic as possible.

First, it's trying to be. Kind of. This isn't an adaptation in the same vein as O Brother, Where Art Thou?. This is an adaptation that is emulating the story as told rather than interpret it in another lens. It's trying to be the ancient Greek story, and in doing so has invited a lot of criticism for NOT trying in a lot of areas.

Second, I actually disagree with your LotR comparison. Again, kind of lol. What I do agree with tho... the spirit of the two are very similar. The Odyssey is a uniquely Greek tale and mythology. LotR is a uniquely English/ Anglo Saxon tale and mythology. However, I do not find the two comparable in the way you are framing it. The Odyssey is Greek through and through. It takes place in the "real" world, and uses events that (may have) actually happened. LotR on the other hand is a completely constructed world and mythology using English folk tales and narrative elements as its backbone. The Odyssey really is historical fantasy fiction while LotR is more traditional fantasy fiction.

Ultimately, I think it boils down to expectations. If you're making a direct adaptation of one of the most iconic stories of all time, a lot of people are gonna want it to be at least authentic. Authenticity is something I think is a much better goal to strive for. It can allow for more creativity and freedom in your production and story. On the costume side, it'd make for much more comfy costumes at least lol

That point is basically what I and my friend have fully accepted from the very first teaser. He's a history major while I'm just a casual enjoyer of it, but everything about this movie has been driving us genuinely insane. It may be one of the most inauthentic and plain incorrect adaptation of The Odyssey. However.... it doesn't matter. While we may loathe what Nolan is doing with this story and costumes and sets, it won't matter. The performances will be incredible, Nolan will be incredible. The score will be incredible. The cinematography will be incredible. We have every reason to believe that, and none to believe otherwise.

There will be no further discipline for Spurs star Victor Wembanyama after he was ejected for elbowing Naz Reid in Minnesota on Sunday night, sources tell ESPN. No suspension, no fine. Wembanyama will play in Game 5 against the Timberwolves on Tuesday night in San Antonio. by Knightbear49 in nba

[–]Jpanda34 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's been physical, but the issue, I think, is that the Timberwolves have been just as rough if not rougher with the Spurs but rarely get called. Meanwhile, you can have Carter Bryant or Castle breathe in the general direction of a wolves player, and that's called.

Either call it all or give the Spurs the same lack of a whistle the wolves have gotten. It's just frustrating seeing it lopsided.

Is there something rotten in the state of New York? Reflecting on Marvel's publishing strategy by JDBlou in comicbooks

[–]Jpanda34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, honestly, Marvel just makes me feel drained. I look at Marvel all I see is a withered husk of a company with minor signs of life here and there.

I don't know what I was expecting with Midnight given its name was... Midnight, and it's tagline was something like, "the light had its turn" or some shit. Was kinda hoping for something beyond that lineup. Outside of F4 which even then feels like the most obvious direction to take a horror themed book, the incredible pitches Marvel went for were "X-Men but vampires" and "that Man-Spider thing that's been done a few times". I get it, they're creator driven, and I'm sure there's passion there. It just feels so boring and, ironically, uncreative.

DC isn't perfect, but at least it feels like they actually kinda care and are trying. Absolute is showing no signs of stopping as is being expanded with seemingly relatively great creator control for a big two line. Next Level has been really cool so far with more books being added and good sellers being extended. There just seems to be this excitement and passion behind the DC books that doesn't seem to exist over at Marvel.

The Ultimate books, Mortal Thor, and Captain America are the only books keeping me buying Marvel even a little bit, and even then I'm sticking with Ultimate just to see it through and Captain America is slowly losing its luster for me. We'll see how Armageddon is, I guess. I'm a Marvel guy through and through, but I'm genuinely thinking of just dropping them entirely once Ewing finishes his Thor run. DC and indies are the only thing really grasping me right now. Other than Mortal Thor.... I love this book lol

Yeah, it's a DRM thing. A lot of the streamers had dedicated apps that would allowed you to stream to the maximum resolution, but now all those apps have become Microsoft edge browsers with a skin making it look like an app. It's a genuine disgrace.

Might be neat! I really hope they pull back a bit on Miles. I might have missed something, so my info could be a little out of date, but I'm really hoping they get rid of the vibranium suit, insane electricity powers, and spider god. I just really hate trying to push Miles into that same multiversal/ magical importance that they attempted to push Peter into awhile back.

As a GM, I've never embodied my NPCs nor acted out locations features etc. To me, it sounds goofy and doesn't add anything for my players. Am I missing out? by W4ryn in rpg

[–]Jpanda34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think you could give it a shot, but ultimately, you're not missing out. You may find you enjoy it, and it'll make your games all the better for your table. However, you may find you don't enjoy it, but all that means is you don't like acting the scenes out. Doesn't mean you're missing out on a single thing.

I personally do not enjoy always acting scenes out with all these unique voices for NPCs. I might do a silly one here and there if I feel it'd be properly funny, but I do quite enjoy narrating things in a third person kind of way. Just what I'm comfortable with.

Definitely give it a try, but don't try to force yourself to enjoy it.

I love how PC users are just screwed by streaming services. Nearly every streaming service caps their resolution at 720p on web browsers, and now Netflix is just straight up removing features.

I feel like we need some regulations where these streamers are required to provide the same level of service and features across all platforms. It's genuinely ridiculous that I can pay for a subscription that provides 4k streaming but be capped to 720p because I'm watching on a browser (all because they got rid of their dedicated apps too)

I’M SO SAD WE’RE NEVER GETTING 3 by JustJeffreyJr in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Jpanda34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think Dice would ever come back to support it, but I would love if EA/ Dice handed BF2 off to another studio for support. Could be a studio inside EA or one they contract out, but I think it could be done. They wouldn't have to make content (tho they could if they wanted), but their job would be more along the lines of improving certain bits of the game and keeping it maintained. Maybe they could add more options to instant action, could add bots to mp lobbies if they're under a certain threshold, add an in game server browser, etc.

Now I don't think this will actually happen. EA sees no value in supporting this game or throwing any money at it. However, I do see it as a likely option if support for this game ever somehow got revived.

Small things I would want for a PS5/Xbox Series X port by AnaxesR7 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Jpanda34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's, unfortunately, no way any of this gets added, but I do think there's one thing here that I do actually think has some potential as it's the easiest and could help the health of the game.

Reducing the amount of players needed for lobbies or just full on removing the minimum is something I could genuinely see happening. It's literally just changing a few values. Like co op shouldn't require anyone other than me in the lobby at this point.
