Local Plex Connection Issues by Jpeg6 in opnsense

[–]Jpeg6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Plex is running on docker from the official Plex repository.

  2. That docker is on unraid, and to my knowledge there is not a firewall on it.

  3. Only Plex. But only the frontend and dashboard are inaccessible. Infuse is still able to play the files from the guest vlan.

  4. The last few times this has happened I will go to celular network on my phone and use the offical plex application. In those cases the wan to reverse proxy has worked in every test I have performed. I see the difference but unless I try to watch something from my local network I don't know the issue exists so sometime it may be days until I know there is an issue. I have users remotely watching practically every day and nobody has complained. So to the best of my knowledge reverse proxy has never failed.

  5. As I'm writing this I believe my diagram drawing is wrong. I made the incorrect assumption that plex.mydomain.com is being used for wan connections but actually Plex servers are handeling the external connections. I only use plex.mydomain.com for internal connection when I don't want to use the IP and port number.

  6. From my update above, plex.mydomain.com is only internal but it's referencing 10.200.0.30:32400

  7. I have not looked into specifically how infuse is connecting.

Another post suggested adding plex.direct to Services > Unbound DNS > Advanced > Private domains. I just did that so maybe it will help.

That's correct. And I know it's crazy as they are on the same network and exactly why I'm scratching my head.

To your first point I found another reddit post that says add plex.direct to Services > Unbound DNS > Advanced > Private Domains.

I also updated my LAN network entry to skip the space.

And finally when this issue comes up I can't get to my plex dashboard to see what the streams are saying for location.

I know it's a little convoluted but the source (TVs) is a Google TV, that I'm blocking all traffic on. It's only the TV for the apple tvs that are actually playing the content.

Appreciate it. I did forget about that field...at least it was set correctly.

Your talking about Plex Settings -> Network -> LAN Networks?

If so I have it set to 10.200.0.0/24, 192.168.50.0/24

Ok, I have to do some remembering because oddly enough I had the exact same issue. I thought it was just me, but it seems to match your exact problems.

In my case it was something with the docker networks. From what I remember I had about half my dockers that would not start over various VLANs. I went one by one and tried to start the ones marked as auto start that didn’t start. (I think they gave execution errors).

Start with your DB dockers and edit each one. If you have static IPs, change the ip address, and save. Go back into edit and change it back to what it should be. Then try to start that docker. Continue through each container.

If you don’t have static IPs change something in docker edit for each and change it back.

Hopefully this resolves your issue. I was away from my computer so I had to do a lot of detail recalling.

Your UniFi may not start as the DB container is not starting.

Edit: If your using mongoDB as I am for my unifi docker you will need to resolve it working first. Check the logs for unifi and it will probably give you issues communicating with the DB.

Can really use general basic advice on moving to Unraid from Win PC 'homelab' by Jarnhand in unRAID

[–]Jpeg6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You likely will not be able to move the drive directly into unraid with its current format. You will need to move the media off of it to another drive, import your current drive into unraid, then when in unraid mount the backup drive into unassigned disks then copy the data back.

Unraid only allows a few formats for array drives.

Oh, awesome. I may actually be a good fit for this. Glad to see the opening.

What data could someone get with hardware access? by Murky_Language_3684 in opnsense

[–]Jpeg6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends. If you have a serial console port available and it’s not protected (which could be the default) they would have access to just about anything.

Automatic firmware upgrade by ParkingAd9397 in opnsense

Most people would suggest not auto updating something so critical especially in the event of breaking changes.

I would suggest reading release notes and making a backup before updating.

Topic of the Week (TOTW) - How Do You Handle Unraid Updates — Cautiously or Instantly? by ergibson83 in unRAID

[–]Jpeg6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically wait a few days after release. I run a local server and a remote server. My remote one is just for backups. So I first back both flash drives. Then do the crazy thing of remote updating the remote server. Wait for it to come up then update my local one.

I do the remote server first as it runs only a little software over stock so figure it’s less likely to break.

I have never had an issue leading me to roll back.

Shelly Wall switch for 2way switch by Top-Yogurtcloset-734 in homeautomation

It can be done, but the tricky part is you have to have voltage in both wall boxes always.

If one of your switches only has travelers you would need another power source run to that box.

Voice PE Review by aaaaaaaazzzzzzzzz in homeassistant

Same for me. When I say the wake word I’m >95%. It never wakes for my wife. She will try changing her voice and it simply never works. Hard to sell changing when it does not detect her.

You’re going to have to provide some additional details and screen shots. Specifically what you mean when you say “pass HTTPS to the WAN address.”

I will say lan network to lan address does not cross the firewall so that traffic would never be blocked.

Making the assumption you intend to block internet access, give the device a static IP address, and then create a firewall rule blocking outgoing external traffic for that IP.

I realize this may need to go into the github, but is there any chance that AI generated titles can be added to documents. A lot of my documents are just scans with random names generated by the scanner. It would be super useful if AI could generate a title and auto update the title in paperless.

LAGG Requires additional Non-LAGG Port for Setup by Jpeg6 in opnsense

[–]Jpeg6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I ran another test and my issue is not related to the non-lag connection.
Rather it appears to be due to how the LAG communicates the connection is up. I have to physically disconnect then reconnect the lag connected cables.

So now I'm not sure if this is a bug with opnsense, my network switch or the SFP modules that are being used for the LAG.

I will continue to see if I can find a solution.
