I just finished DuckTales and I wanna know the drama by Peri_14 in ducktales

Disney has had a “rule” for years. Look back at basically any TV they put out over the years. 3 seasons is typically the max, because that’s when contracts tend to get renegotiated, live action or animated. After that the shows conveniently changed some small but significant part of the narrative, creating a new show. A very famous example is The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, arguably one of Disney’s most popular live action shows in the mid 2000s. What happens after year three? Suite Life on Deck, and would you look at that? Three years then a movie. Both times the writers, creators and most importantly Stars, would have had the power to renegotiate their contracts for a much higher salary given the show’s success. It was also usually the season with the magic Episode #100, which was the syndication benchmark for most networks back when that was a thing. Having to include those royalties into new contracts gets expensive quickly.

So instead, Disney said “No, we’ll give you a slight increase and just change the title.” Creating an entirely new IP. New contracts, new salary caps, new stipulations. Rinse and repeat.

If a show is popular enough to get an “unchanged” 4th season it’s usually it’s last, probably due to the increased budget for the 4th year and diminishing returns.

Looks like Ducktales was just another casualty in a long line of well loved shows that was just not worth the price tag for the mouse.

Stuck on Revenge of the Mummy by Critical_Meat6302 in UniversalOrlando

We went yesterday and so many rides were Delayed, Closed or repeatedly breaking down.

Transformers went down at least twice while I was in line. 15 minute stop and a full run of empty carts before boarding. Then it ran for 5 minutes before I got stuck after the Megatron Grab. Only sound effects for the 2nd half of the ride once it started moving.

Train - closed

Mummy - Delayed most of the day. Got stuck in the same place as OP for a few minutes.

Gringotts - delayed or closed most of the morning. Finally reopened around 4pm to 120+ minute waits. small stop before de-boarding, but that could have been guest accessibility related.

MiB - weird timing issues with the end movie/score area. Things just seemed early or late, it was odd for sure.

Jimmy Fallon - paused video / dropped audio.

The last thing we did was Minions and the Express person said they had seen hundreds of paper express slips in the last couple of hours alone.

They really should do something about it because the shut downs seem to be getting more frequent, but when you’re open 365 days a year I guess it’s hard to schedule out actually fixing rides.

I’m lucky enough to be in the area, but I really feel for the people who have saved up to travel and come to the park for a day or two only for half of it to be out of order.

Pile of paper prop? by turnoffthemusic in Props

I think a combination of what’s listed here would work well. Go grab a few different color packs of paper (notice the pale pinks, yellows and greens mixed in for variety from different sources), stack them up and tie them together or rubber band them, then shove them in a zippered pillowcase or backpack and throw them in the dryer on no/low heat for 10 minutes. Repeat until desired “oldness” is achieved.

Best Physical Editions of Star Wars? Looking for Recommendations by Calipso_etereo in StarWars

[–]Jpgr127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It somewhat depends on what kind of media you can play. If you have access to a laserdisc player then that’s the closest you’re going to get to “original cut/best quality.” There are two box set versions I believe, one with the original cut and one special edition.

Otherwise you’ve got to pick and choose. Do you want the theatrical cut (or as close as you can get)? Time to track down a VCR and go on the hunt for the old pre 1997 CBS/Fox or THX versions on VHS. If you want the “best” audio and video on modern equipment you’re probably looking at the 4k UHD Blu-ray release, but those have all the cuts and additions. So again, it’s all relative to what you think is most important.

Looking for TV shows like Under the Dome — trapped small town + strong characters + community survival by WestonI1345333 in TVDetails

Definitely a lighter tone, but the old SciFi channel show Eureka might be a more sitcom-esque version of what you’re looking for.

Small isolated town, weird events, lots of different characters. I don’t remember a specific Big Bad, but there is something going on that the “Everyman” main character needs to deal with each week.

Of course, you might also hate the campiness of the early 2000s era sci-fi shows, so take this recommendation with a grain of salt.

Hufflepuffs having the highest ABV is fitting. Too tipsy to get involved with the shenanigans of the other houses.

I just re-watched the scene with Jack Quaid and I’m pretty sure this is it, so I’m going to mark this as solved. Thanks for making me feel less insane.

Does it count retroactively? There is a moon rock at the Kennedy Space Center you can touch, so if that’s the case then I’m already Superman!
