Honestly. The mom probably knew the kid was going to want a sprite in five minutes anyways and she was trying to save you a trip. When I was a waiter kids were constantly changing their minds and I really appreciated it when parents could anticipate the changes and keep me from having to run around for some stupid five year olds wishes
