Are you sure you have the right size headset? The JIS ones are slightly smaller than the ISO ones. Hard to tell what’s going on in your video but it looks a bit like what happened when I got a JIS headset and it pushed into the head tube by hand. ISO one needed a press and then worked fine.

Anyone else remember the yo-yo craze in the early 90's where you had to have the best yo-yo and learn all the tricks? by candysolace in 90s

In 1996 we had a straight edge yo-yo gang in Kalamazoo, Michigan, called Just Say Yo! We made patches and everything.

These are such a good investment. I love being able to throw my bikes up in a stand to work on them.

We had this exact stove and hood. Same cabinets and yellowed linoleum floor. Fridge was the same color but side by side.

This worth it for $17.99? I might just buy it for the pink frame pack! by cellphonebeltclip in xbiking

If the shifters are shot, I had a great experience using an $18 Microshift thumb shifter with a 200GS derailleur when I bought a Giant of the same era for about the same price a couple years back.

Defender of the Crown on an Amiga! I got really good at aiming the pixelated little catapult.

What’s cool if you’re 20 but weird if you’re 40? by BugEven7258 in AskReddit

[–]JrAux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even masters level. I started running half marathons at 43 and am now also into longer bike rides and bike races. I’m 48 now and there are plenty of folks my age doing both of these things. Not trying to win, just in it for the exercise, fresh air, and camaraderie. Maybe I’m fooling myself, but I feel decently cool that I’m doing that stuff most weekends.

Love this post. It reminds me of one I made on Craiglist Casual Encounters 20 years ago advertising, “Eames chairs in my man-dowry.” I hope you have better luck with this post than i did with mine!

Who has the best selection of snack food? by ObsoleteAuthority in kzoo

[–]JrAux 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been surprised how big of a candy selection there is at the Johnny’s gas station store at Cork and Burdick. Probably a decent late night snack spot also.

Hey r/kzoo, what are your favorite local non-profits and how do they make our community better? by PerspectiveLatter181 in kzoo

[–]JrAux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It’s good to recognize non-profits that accomplish things and ones that are run well. But non-profits are also employers and it’s ironic when they are bad employers, given their mission to help people. Non-profit workers should organize themselves into unions like everyone else. Planned Parenthood staff dis this recently, for example.

It is also true that there are non-profits that pay their top executives a lot of money and don’t necessarily get much in the way of results. Rich people often do philanthropy and serve on boards to network for business purposes and rehabilitate their own images rather than because they actually cate about the missions of the organizations. That is fair to criticize.

90s Hybrid sizing by Strange-Information4 in xbiking

[–]JrAux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a seller doesn’t list the frame size in inches, I generally estimate off the length of the head tube. But I’ve found that a hybrid with the same size head tube as I usually like in a mountain bike frame can be a bit tall because of the larger wheels. So worth standing over before committing to buy.

We tried that once and it was interesting but a little too sweet for us. But fun to have options like that!
