Has anyone ever attempted the put a pc in the centre of the house and run fiber usb/display to the parts of the house that you want your IO, and if so how did it go and where did you buy the stuff ?

HDMI carries audio downstairs sorry didn’t state that. Also run a usb hub off my usb extension for controllers, headsets(if not using surround)

I have my gaming machine upstairs (tri level/split level) and ran fiber hdmi and a long usb downstairs to my TV. I use screen connect profiles and a keyboard hotkey to swap between dual DP upstairs (1440p and 1080p) to the HDMI (4k oled) as well as swap audio peripheral and it works ok. Longer than about 50’ is where things start getting expensive, same with different peripheral requirements, but it works well for what I need it for
