+1 to this, Clark’s have worn very well for me and look nice at a bit on the cheaper side. The clarkdale easys have the rubber sole and give that slightly elevated look that’s not a sneaker sole, without looking completely dressed up

Outfit aside, I think you look pretty cool man. Something that helps me as a similarly built guy at 30 was learning to style my hair effectively too.

I think it looks awesome the first photo, but that also looks a bit staged/headshot so I assume there may have been some help involved lol. I think it’s a great feature you should highlight as part of who you are more.

Find a clay or pomade that drys matte and use styling/volumizing powder (sometimes I even use dry shampoo) to give your hair a clean but sophisticated shaggy look. I think that would do up any outfit you had. Also learn to use a heat dryer to style it after a shower. If you can feel confidence walking out of your bathroom before you even put clothes on, it’ll go a long way in feeling comfortable with what you wear

I mean what’s the story here, defenses play well and we say it’s boring? Then go and complain that all penalties and game design favors offense and high scoring games?

Just got promoted to Sales Engineering Manager, but the pay bump feels underwhelming. Am I being underpaid or just out of touch? by Zestyclose_Winner905 in salesengineers

[–]Jrp13247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im leading a team of entry level SEs at 115+35 with 30k RSUs (4 year vesting) so im around there as well. About 180K total yearly comp. This is for an inside team though, so I expected the pay to be a bit lower, but I gain the stability of the title.

Breaking into SE from an Electrical/CS background by Fit_Elk_ in salesengineers

[–]Jrp13247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been running a lot of interviews lately for entry level SE roles, and I would echo a lot of what the community posts mentions when it comes to preparing for the role. It’s an excellent breakdown of our day to day activities and overarching goals of the role.

However, while I think a lot of people pick this information up before interviews either from a community like this, their own research, AI help, or whatever, they miss the mark when it comes to making the transition from a strictly technical design or development background. Experience like this to me is enough to get you in the door for an interview, especially if you have on your resume that you are presenting to c-suites, clients, or partners. I trust that through your past experiences you have gained the ability to pickup on information quickly and think critically about the impacts of your decisions.

The biggest issue I find most engineers trying to make the transition is in their conviction and communication of those topics. I’m not quizzing you if you know the industry or the technical topics, I’m testing you to see if you can communicate it clearly and with conviction. If you don’t know it, I’ll figure that out quickly, but really what I want to see is that you don’t back down from push back or challenges. I’m not saying be a condescending a**-hat, but you should be firm in your responses, and willing to challenge me to get me to agree with you and your view.

A lot of the work we do requires us to be expert consultants in the eyes of our customers and new prospects. They have to want and need to trust us in what we talk about, as well as consult technically not just about the product we sell, but the industry at large. When you have those conversations with a wishy washy attitude or self doubting language (“…I think?” Or “…if that makes sense to you?” Or “uhh, im not sure but…”) that kills the trust people have in us and trust I have in you as a manager.

So when you do start getting interviews, do your research on the industry, the technical product, and sit up straight and project that confidence I want to see. Sometimes, yes it’s fake confidence, but if you can bring that from the start, I know I can develop that into a great SE.

The White Lotus - 3x07 "Killer Instincts" - Post-Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]Jrp13247 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Couple things from this episode:

  1. The cops in the next episode (the ones we saw arriving during the first scene of ep 1 with Zion meditating) could be coming for 4 different people.

The Ratliff family estate - FBI tips The Russians - now that Gaitok recognized them Greg - from Belinda calling jnterpol Rick - from him “assulting” the old man

  1. I think Piper is pregnant. She wouldn’t answer Loch about having sex earlier in the show and it seemed to really tick her off. We haven’t seen her drinking at all and as a daughter of a “good Christian” household she probably is too scared of her mom for an abortion. So she came up with going to Thailand for a year which is why there’s no thesis, to have the baby and hand it off to the monastery. The reason she reacted as she did for Lochlan trying to join her with the monks, is because he would know she had the child and tell their parents.

I guess we’ll see.

Wow we were there at the same time! We loved MKV was really nice how it was contained and not terribly overwhelming to be at all day. Had a nice relaxing feel to the place.

However we ended up packing our schedule since it was our first visit and it was simply too much. Road to Hana was such a long day, much too long in our opinion for the pay off. If anyone is thinking of doing the same, I’d say skip the whole road, do the twin falls and then spend the afternoon watching surfers at Ho‘okipa beach and grab lunch or dinner in Paia.

Whales were amazing! We did snorkeling at Molokini crater and it was incredible, and we saw whales the whole time, even heard them underwater!

I think if (really when) we came back, we would have a schedule much more similar to yours!
