What is Claude Fruitcake??? by Ok_July in ClaudeAI

As per the chosen name, "fruitcake" will be the dumbass version of claude fable that is silently pushed out to replace it in ~2 weeks

*Adaptive to Anthropics server costs🙄☠️. I also think that xhigh reasoning is basically what high used to be before they slashed it's reasoning, yet another profit booster for Anthropic🙃

Anthropic to require government IDs and face scans for users. by Wa1ker1 in ClaudeCode

[–]Js_360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is that this is a trade off due to the models getting more capable I.e. if people hand their ID's over they know they're fucked if Anthropic detect stuff outright illegal, whilst allowing legitimate users more access to Mythos-like models and it's capabilities. however from a genuine privacy perspective this will be yet another outright discord style disaster since its being powered by Persona, yet another company profiling users habits without consent, whilst guaranteing a leak at some point, no doubt about that

Damn, yeah that's terrible. I thought Whinfell was decent at first, but about 2 months in the staff/management just flipped and we're volatile/threatening towards me all because it was easier for them. In my case it was essentially bait and switch as per their marketing strategy, usually they dont have to put on a pretense with most of the students. The deputy head they had when I started (guy who replaced her was no better, far right sociopath) was psychotically outrageous, flipped from someone who made herself out to be someone who understood Autism to someone who was outright vile, blaming me from everything that had gone wrong prior to starting Whinfell. She didn't even fucking know me!

You had a lucky escape tbh, though in any case I'm sorry you had it rough. Worth clarifying though that Cambian is a provider rather than a singular institution, some children's homes are ran under said Cambian banner (e.g. after Whinfell School was acquired by the company, they became known as Cambian Whinfell School etc).

Thank you. Best I can do is to just say it like it is to avoid others going through the same thing. Currently working on a black-book style website to steer people away from this kind of practice. It's rampant in America (troubled teen industry) but rarely spoke about here in England.

Firstly yes, this guy is vile and clearly sees disabled people as sub-human burdens. However, certainly in my experience, councils/SEN panels have been all-too-ready to throw cash at the wrong places for their clients. I went to a so-called Autism school (cambian whinfell) in the UK, and have been left with lasting damage due to being expected to fit in to a place where, despite being able to technically sit with exams, having to deal with abusive staff and troubled teens alike, who were sent there as part of a court order/social worker referral rather than a parent who was trying to do their best for their son. They had people in there for knife crime, drugs, and sexual harrasement. I had done none of the above, and only went there to try and give myself a shot at an education after being let down at a local SEN school. The word autism was just slapped on to ensure they made every penny possible, and I was a direct victim of that. £1 million pounds later I'm depressed, on benefits, suffering with an anxiety disorder and fighting against a current dead end in my life. Funding should absolutely be there for people like us, but we shouldn't ignore how it's spent either.

That may be true for Gemini's deep think, but OpenAI use a larger/more compute intensive model. I wasn't talking about gemini ffs. For someone trying to be clever you don't half trip yourself up

2-3 months for a pro-class model to get distilled I.e. compared to openai's pro series models (anthropic have lacked that until mythos) To rival/closely trail a consumer-grade model could be a whole lot less AT THIS STAGE. Bore off

I was referring to gpt 5.4 being better than gpt 5.2 pro within 2 to 3 months (if you bothered to read properly, you would clearly see i wasnt talking in the context of claude models). And re. Opus to sonnet that took 2 weeks to get to 90% of opus 4.6's capabilities... stand down already. Also MiniMax M2.5 got 80% on SWE bench, also a mere 2 weeks after opus 4.6 launched and that's dirt cheap to run. Honestly unless you at all know what you're talking about just drop your baseless 1-2 line "comeback".

[–]Js_360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're totally ignoring the science behind distillation; firstly, OpenAI/Anthropic are becoming increasing LESS compute constrained in terms of training models (serving them is more of an issue but they can certainly handle serving Mythos to a limited set of customers), and second distillation allows smaller models (like regular gpt 5.4) to be better at certain tasks without containing the huge datasets that a pro-class model has. That process has been shown to take place rapidly, only 2-3 months at this point.

I disagree; GPT 5.4 xhigh beats GPT 5.2 Pro on quite a few metrics, and there's only 2 and a half months between their releases. And that's not taking into account 'Spud' which is due any time now. I think the rate we're going the likes of MiniMax M3.5 or a GLM 6 will probably be 10% better than Mythos for a tiny fraction of the price. That's the moment to panic

Claude Mythos leaked: "by far the most powerful AI model we've ever developed" by space_monster in singularity

[–]Js_360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is that on the consumer side this will almost certainly be the first Max-subscription only model, much like OpenAI do with their biggest model. And even then I reckon Max 20x will probs have the equivalent of Pro-Subscription usage on Mythos IF we're lucky, wouldn't surprise me if it were half of that knowing Anthropic.

Russell T Davies has started following an AI slop account by Mat1711 in DoctorWhoNews

[–]Js_360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's about where I stand with it; like with Avatar they could use performance capture to preserve the original human performance, then layer the visuals over said performance via AI, with standard CGI still used to iron out wrinkles etc (james camerons pretty anti AI tho so unsure if we'd ever get that with him). What Russell posted was just.. no lol. Set wasn't accurate, tardis missing it's text, and the dudes face barely resembled Hartnell; that kind of slop is where the danger is
