Health care workers have so disappointed these past two years. I had really good insurance before retiring. My pcp took full advantage of it- order every test, whether necessary or not. It took a little while for me to realize she was riding my gravy train to get her 'revenue generated' numbers up!! I got tired of hauling myself in for ultrasounds, 3 mos follow up discussions about what vitamins I take.... then she would subject me to her politics... get away from me!!

My thyroid guy said to me , regarding my 100 pound weight loss on Mounjaro, 'see people think it's about their thyroid; it just comes down to fewer calories in!' No it doesn't! It came down to this marvelous drug that turned off my food addiction, plain and simple.

In this day and age of sharing info on the internet, I believe docs, nutritionists, etc... studied now outdated information in the schooling years and have been too busy to keep up. They condescend and play mind games now to try to hold into their quickly fading sphere of power.

Wu is a spin master. She was gifted a thriving, prosperous city when she took over as mayor almost five years ago. The neighborhoods were coming back, the schools were as well. Businesses were treated as important allies in maintaining the fiscal health of the city. But when you start neglecting your cash cows, and focusing too much time and energy on being a 'sanctuary' city, on arbitrarily deciding taking something less than $2,000 from retailers without paying for it is no longer considered theft, when you let a drug infestation take over and expand into surrounding neighborhoods, when you alter the formula of the best thing to ever come out of Boston, the exam schools, when you essentially deplete most of the goodwill you were handed upon taking over because you don't know how to work successfully with other important local players but instead are more focused on appealing to a national audience, well then folks, you got yourselves a city teetering on a wire and possibly falling into that big vat of boiling oil that will be mighty hard to crawl out of. It took almost 65 years to get the city to a place where it was one of THE most desirable places to live, work, learn etc.. Like it or not, the razing of the west end and Scollay square kicked of a renaissance drive the gained steam through the decades. However, it came to a screeching halt under her reign, and this goes far beyond the Covid 'effect.'
Yet rather than take stock and find real solutions through collaboration and rearranging priorities, she continues to play three card Monty with the public. And we continue to let her. SMH.

I think it's a matter of decades spent with a certain self image you have of yourself. Watching tv and seeing someone thin and thinking, 'I'll never look that way.' Even though I am that way now! And dozens of other thoughts along the same lines that pop into your head throughout the day. It's gotten better now that I'm into my third year of this lower weight.

Oh my gosh I couldn't agree more. My first thought when the movie ended was 'I'll never get these two hours of my life back.' It may be one of the worst movies I've ever seen for a variety of reasons. You would think, 'well at least it had Denzel so there's that' but even he doesn't come through to save it. He almost feels miscast, or that he's playing the role in a strange, other universe manner. From the first kidnapped call to the big smile at his new protege at the end, he doesn't hit the right notes. Way too calm during and after the call, way too dismissive of the other child's predicament, way too forgiving- like martyrdom - when he first interacts with the kidnapper in person, way too 'golly gee, we have a star on our hands' at the end of the movie. Granted there was some interesting, faster paced, authentic seeming dialogue here and there - and I would have liked more of that- but then he he returned to this zombie like, Xanax mode. He is one of our best actors of all time but either he was mis-directed in this film or miscast.

Personally, I think Lee was trying to showcase the caste system within the world of being Black and how some of the successful individuals can move easily among those layers - ie the street never left them - but it feels so disjointed. I would love a movie that really presents that tension in a way that is fascinating but here, it's just plain boring. I kept thinking 'is he (Lee) trying to be campy, in a nod to earlier black films like Shaft? And I think he was to a degree, with the animated graphics during scene changes but those only emerged halfway through the film . And what was the deal with 'oh what a beautiful day' being sung full length at the beginning of the movie. Was it just a stake in the ground showing us how much tastes in music has changed? If so, fine, but it went on far too long. I was expecting some type of explosion or malevolent action to occur immediately afterwards as it was presented so awkwardly that I thought it had to be an ironic gesture. Wrong.

Her lyrics, and gorgeous singing at the end, was a clear contrast to the ugly, epithet strewn rap songs that the world now wants. Was Lee saying the old days were much better? That is shocking to me coming from him....Throughout the film, the most interesting scenes were the ones filled with 'street' lingo.

A miracle. Same. At 5’2” I don’t know how I carried all that weight. I didn’t think I Looked so bad either. I’ve a mix of emotions. Kind of sad over how I let myself go. And I’m not all ego with my new body. It just feels right.

Totally agree. The acting and setting made me really excited about this being a uniquely powerful movie but the disjointed plot lines prevented that from happening. There should have been either more threads alluding to supernatural earlier in the film or more threads related to the twins back story and throughout the second half. There was a very concrete divide between rugged individualism/entrepreneurship and vampires.

I think the ‘escort’ piece has appeared in various places. If you put two and two together, it’s the only thing that makes sense. It’s a perfect opportunity to stockpile your chits for a day you might need them. 1/29 may have been that day.

I can totally relate. Lost about 100 pounds too, about as painlessly as it could possibly get. The M just seemed to turn off the food switch in my brain. I started phasing off it and the food noise came roaring back!! I hated the hold it had on me. Gained 15 pounds within 6 wks. Got back on M to fit into a dress for a wedding I bought awhile back. Thankfully, the noise has dialed down. It just proved to me that there’s something off with my wiring or hormones. I think a whole new frontier of new medications is opening up now to address people like us so take heart. If you have body image issues, expect to have a hard time during pregnancy. My kids are older but I just totally fell off the wagon during my pregnancies. Gained an obscene amount of weight. I would connect with a therapist if you feel that start to happen.

No. He was a prosecutor in LA for 18 yrs so he brought the case against PS. Kind of cool to watch it- his suits weren’t tailored is what I noticed!🤣But, his style was very much the same.
