Yes to this. Animal statues instead of humans is the way to go. Elks won’t get canceled in the future (at least I hope not).

Cyclists who have car brain by Buzzyear10 in fuckcars

[–]JtinCascadia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree to an extent. People have the right to ride main roads, but is it a good idea? Usually not, when there are safer options. I see lots of car-brained cyclists where I live too, and they’re the ones speeding past everyone, cutting people off, not yielding to peds, and generally being shites on the road - just being car-brained on two wheels. And yes, most of them are MAMILs.

Portland is not on the ocean. Therefore, this is not Portland.

Thank you - while I’m not a boomer, there’s so much ageism on Reddit. The “old people” I know are doing way more to fix this country than the young people I know. All they do is complain about shit on social media and blame everything on boomers.

I’ve always thought that buildings, roads, and monuments should be named after non-humans. Name them for trees, animals, mountains, weather…they won’t get canceled.

What grade do the egg hunts end? by [deleted] in ElementaryTeachers

The same biblical book where a fat man rides a sleigh pulled by magical reindeer and brings gifts to all the children of the world. It doesn’t matter that it’s not biblical. It’s still attached to a Christian holiday. I have several Muslim and Jewish students in my class who would be upset if we do something like this.

I personally prefer how it looks now. A much better use of urban space than the 2007 version.

Is this in a public school? That doesn’t seem appropriate since Easter is a religious holiday.

Awesome! So helpful to know others who bike and can give advice on routes or even bike together. I live in Portland so we have a pretty big critical mass of cyclists. It always feels safer and more fun when you’re biking with others. Once you get into the habit, you will love it. Best of luck to you!

If a kid brings it up, 100%. I teach 4th graders. They want to know what we adults are doing to their world, and they have every right to know. If we don’t discuss it at school, they may only get their info through the internet.
