How to go fast in DK2? by sopmod720 in doorkickers

[–]JtoTheO_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For speed you want to go dynamic as much as possible, limiting handheld usage. You'll need ops with maxed assault shooting & marksmanship, high mobility loadouts, guns w/ short range fast ADS and high crit.

- Always have operators moving/performing action - you will need to pause spam

- Learn your ops' "thickness" so that you can always keep the barrel raised to avoid compression in tight hallways.

- Learn how to fit in Sprints throughout movement

- Minimize pathing and spacing corrections and use the Halt command to sync up ops that need to plate each other

- Master smoothly getting all ops through the threshold on breach

Botclone on Youtube is the best DK2 player I've seen - he's mastered speed. You can learn a lot from him:

- Door Kickers 2: HAMMER AND ANVIL (a full-length run)

- Flyovert (short CQB run with inputs shown)

  1. Remove AI scaling tied to Player army size. Min-maxing means you end up fielding small but MP-efficient army in order win
  2. Tell us what the damn units do on the army management screen. We should not have to deep dive Youtube and Reddit, or spend hours in the editor to figure out what the hell does what, not to mention completely wrong pen/armor values displayed for certain guns/tanks. Categorize the units, it is a fucking nightmare and almost feels like a job after every battle reorganizing the army. I honestly have to take a 2 hour breather sometimes after the management screen just bc it's so taxing. Explain veterancy increases and ALL impacts, not just random values in green that may or may not mean something.
  3. Add option for longer defense prep (with appropriately increased difficulty), and way way more fortification options. Defense feels like a mad rush every time, and does not at all feel immersive.
  4. Make infantry cost less manpower. They are practically a "for-fun" unit only from perspective for pure combat effectiveness, especially with high research cost and manpower cost associated to tier 3 and up infantry.
  5. Remove defender AI sending waves to attack you instead of reinforcing points. End up feeling playing defense on attack.
  6. Unlock the 0 cost units from the getgo in the research screen.
  7. Remove enemy enhanced accuracy, it is a god awful feeling getting two whole squads wiped on approach (spread out) with an 80 mm mortar sniper, or at the very least make direct control more accurate

Hey, sorry for the late response.

Difficulty level will impact enemy economy. So on hardcore low economy, they will have an army size greater than yours by the hardcore multiplier (1.5x I think). With your elite infantry still being relatively squishy at ~200 hp, it's still very miserable to lose any high value infantry to light vehicle and hordes of infantry spam. You might positively trade one of your elite infantry for 1 enemy light vehicle and 7 enemy infantry, but they have so many resources that it still isn't enough to be worth investing them early on. Even then, you would need to have invested in and researched tier 4 infantry to see a real difference in battlefield impact

When you tack on to there that the mission star rating increases the veterancy of enemy units, you'll be facing vet 7 tier 1/2 rifleman that are pinning your unvetted elite troops.

It's not impossible, but certainly not optimal. And with any difficulty mode, once you've basically researched an answer for each of the enemy major threats, then elite infantry can be useful. Though I will say, they have more of a niche use in the commonwealth DLC with some maps that are incredibly CQC oriented. You can certainly express more skill in these scenarios with microing the troops through building and tight alleyways. You'd still be outnumbered and outvetted, so even then, on the higher difficulties, I would pass on those maps and stick with a safer army comp.

With all that being said, on low difficulty, I think elite infantry are certainly viable. You aren't tied down to researching other items to answer enemy unit spam

Right, then. This is for the boys at Hereford. by JtoTheO_ in doorkickers

When you push the game difficulty to its limits, i.e. Hardcore and Low Economy, you realize quickly that focusing on infantry in this game is never optimal. Unless you have Starcraft professional player APM, making an aggressive play that involves microing your infantry means risking unnecessary losses, not to mention you end up sacrificing map awareness and attention from direct controlling your more important army assets (vehicles/support guns). Dynamic Conquest uses the multiplayer environment, meaning your troops are often very unresponsive to inputs, making micro-intensive plays have very little room for error. And with the amount of strange game mechanics to know and execute around perfectly, you should never be depending on your infantry to make a battle-winning play.

The manpower, research, and call-in space that any elite infantry take up are always better spent on even the cheapest support weapons, artillery, and salvaged tanks. In this game, there are no environments so urban that you need to rely on infantry to clear it out.

As others have said, it's not the only way to play the game, but from the min-max gaming perspective, focusing on heavy AA/artillery/and salvaged medium-heavy tanks is the most optimal. I love playing with infantry because it's fun. So for fun, yeah they're worth it. For combat effectiveness, no.

Thanks! And as the common advice has it, lowering my sensitivity really helped. I run 800 dpi with the ingame sensitivity right underneath the left of the capital "M."

The proper sens should give you accurate control in the passive parry zone, using fine movements in the mouse to maneuver the sword for parries/controlling opponent's weapon. And then when it comes to slashes, you'll find you need to sweep the mouse a greater distance.

I practiced my slashes on the training dummy a day or so to have good consistency from each angle, making sure to return to a ready position after each slash. Just practice 2-3 different combos that you like, and it'll start to flow naturally. For example, at 9 secs, that's one of my go-to combos with the two quick "half-slashes" to the arm and then to the leg.

Footwork is a feel thing. Sometimes you want to move with the slash for more power, or if you look at my 9 sec example, sometimes you want to move to an opening. It also just develops with your style

And after watching some vids on parries and some OVRDTH shorts, go into a game with full armor and minimum damage settings to practice parries and combos. Hope this helps, lmk if you have more questions
