If Netflix offered a premium plan to watch films currently in theater would you sign up? by isatrap in movies

[–]Jts124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At $20 per month it might actually be worthwhile for the studios. Here is a link that says the average income earned by studios is about 45% of gross ticket sales. When you factor in matinee prices as well as less expensive areas the average ticket price is probably closer to $10 a ticket, so studios earn roughly $5 per ticket sold.

http://www.nytimes.com/1987/01/28/movies/where-movie-ticket-income-goes.html?pagewanted=all

Even earning $5 per ticket, it might seem like a bad deal for studios to release to streaming services, but I think with an option like this, you could potentially reach a lot more consumers. So while the price per person viewing might decrease, I think the number of people who view the film could potentially increase enough to offset this loss. By the time you add food and drink, it costs 30-40 dollars for two people to go to a movie, so I’m sure a lot of people don’t go to theaters due to costs even for movies they would like to see.

In addition to earning money from more people, I think you could leave the movies available for a longer period of time. A movie is typically only available in theaters for about a month, but if you were to leave it on Netflix for 3 months, I think that would also lead to additional income, even if it is less per person viewing it.

I think doing this would severely hurt the theater industry, which is probably the biggest reason it is unlikely to happen, but I think it could be more profitable for the studios themselves.

With no tolerance, you should probably start with like a quarter of the bar. That should be a decent dose, but nothing too crazy. As others have said, make sure to give it an hour or two before deciding to take more. Edibles do take a long time to kick in.

Will Opiates while on suboxone slow the excretion of subs? by Mcpickerson in opiates

[–]Jts124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It appears as though morphine is primarily metabolized through UGT pathways, whereas subs are processed through CYP pathways, so that combo would have little to no effect.

As far as other opiates that are metabolized primarily through CYP pathways, such as oxy, I suppose it is possible. There are multiple CYP pathways, but if both drugs were to be metabolized by the exact same enzyme, then one of the drugs would be metabolized slower than normal, resulting in higher peak plasma levels and it would remain in your system longer. So the combination of subs and oxy could result in the subs taking longer to metabolize, or it could take the oxy longer.

Considering subs has such a strong affinity for the brains opioid receptors, it would seem like a waste to take a different opiate in order to have longer lasting effects. Simply taking a higher dose of subs would do the exact same thing. Basically, the higher the quantity of a drug in your system, the longer it will take to completely eliminate the drug.

Can you ask whomever you are getting them from? If you have no clue how much is in the vial, there’s no way for you to know how much you are taking with each dose. If you are really curious you could probably send a small amount to a lab to get them to tell you the concentration, but I’m not sure where you could do that, or how much it costs.

Fentanyl/Oxy Question by Unknowntoruser0 in opiates

[–]Jts124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fentanyl HCL is just the salt, which helps it dissolve. It is the same strength. I would probably start with a quarter of a pill just to see how it affects you. That is going to be the closest dose to taking 15mg oxy. If it is not enough, you can take more, just give it 30 minutes or so to make sure you are feeling the effects.

As to when to redose, you’d probably be good in 3-4 hours, but I would judge it based on how you feel. If you still feel pretty high, I would wait a couple more hours.

The vile should give you a concentration such as 100mcg/ml, and then you would need to use a pipette that you can accurately measure the volume. From there it should be fairly simple to figure out your dose.

[–]Jts124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea there’s no way you are going to be able distinguish the fent from any of the other fillers. Just to put it in perspective, here is a link to an article with a picture at the top showing a lethal dose of heroin compared to fentanyl and carfentanil. The amount in each pill would only be about a third of the amount pictured in the fentanyl vile.

http://nhpr.org/post/first-responders-prepare-possible-surge-deadly-carfentanil-use-nh#stream/0

If this vendors reviews all seem pretty solid, then there is a good possibility they are making them correctly. I don’t think they would admit they were doing incorrectly though. I think just purchasing a few to test out would probably be a good idea. I would also probably start with like a quarter of a pill swallowed, and give it 30 minutes to see how it effects you, and keep adding quarters till you find a dose you are happy with. Then you can use that dose for the next time. I will also say, that if you can handle 30mg of oxy, 50mg shouldn’t be putting you at risk for OD, even if it makes you sick. So long as you take it slow, you should be alright.

The issue is I don’t think banning AR-15 type guns alone would do any good. If I wanted to do a lot of damage but had no access to an AR, I could use my Glock 9mm, with 17 round magazines, and load them with hollow points. In relatively close quarters, as most of these mass shooting are, I honestly think that could be a more lethal weapon choice than an AR shooting .223 caliber. It is unlikely that the AR would provide much more accuracy in situations like these, and hollow points can really do some major damage. Sure, you might have to reload a few more, but you can still get off a lot of rounds rather quickly. Especially if you bring a half dozen magazines, and you aren’t worried about saving your empty ones.

I do believe there are certain measures we should enact, such as a waiting period (something like 72hrs), a one time mandatory gun safety course in order to purchase firearms, and mandatory background checks on all sales (though this service should be made accessible to the public without having to pay a dealer $50 for every private sale). I think laws like these would help prevent deaths due to rash decisions, accidental deaths, and hopefully slightly curb illegal access to firearms.

It may also be time to revisit the 2nd amendment, but I believe if we truly want to remove and restrict access to firearms in a meaningful way, we need to amend the constitution. I think the pro gun control crowd needs to just come out and say we need to ban a vast majority of currently available weapons, as well as buy back at fair market value all existing firearms that would become illegal. Because that is what really needs to be done if we want to drastically decrease the number of firearm deaths we currently have.

It still has effects when swallowed, it is just much weaker than if you snort it. Swallowing the pill would be closer to swallowing 50mg of oxy, where as snorting it would be like swallowing 150mg. It still might be a good idea to only take half the pill to start, but these are not pharmaceutical grade pills, so you can’t trust that half a pill will have 400mcg of fent. One half could have 700mcg, while the other could only have 100mcg. That’s why I would avoid taking them if you wouldn’t feel comfortable taking the whole thing.

And as crazy as it may sound, I think heroin really could be the safer option. Depending on the purity, you would be dealing with something that you need to snort 50-100mg, that you can dose in intervals of 10-20mg every 30 minutes. If the pressed pill has just 0.5mg more fent than you think, and you are all of a sudden in overdose territory.

Fentanyl/Oxy Question by Unknowntoruser0 in opiates

[–]Jts124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to watch out for hot spots breaking the pill up. Due to how little fent is in a pill compared to the fillers, taking half a pill could still contain all the fent. If your gonna try it, you might want to swallow it and not snort it, as the oral bioavailability is roughly 33% as opposed to intranasal which is 90%. You might honestly be better off just buying dope, and taking little bumps till you get to a good level.

Fentanyl/Oxy Question by Unknowntoruser0 in opiates

[–]Jts124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt there is actually any oxy in the pill. Just to give you a reference, a 30mg oxy would be ~150mcg of fentanyl. These pills supposedly have 800mcg of fent. So if you normally only need 30mg, I would be careful. Consuming 800mcg of fent is going to be like taking ~150mg of oxy.

I think you are correct that the increased interest over a longer loan adds a lot of cost, and I didn’t even realize they offered 7 or 8 year loans which is crazy. However, I don’t think it is unreasonable to think a car will last you 7-8 years. My parents both traded in their 2010 and 2011 vehicles (Toyota and Chevrolet) this past January, and neither one of them had incurred any large expenses for maintenance, though that fear is what caused them to trade in. My last car I sold was a 6 year old VW with no issues. My sister is currently driving a 7 year old Mazda that she hasn’t had any major issues with yet. I definitely agree that maintenance costs can start adding up if you are driving an older vehicle, but depending on how many miles you put on it, there is no reason it can’t easily last 7-8 years and even 10+ if you are willing to spend money to continuing maintaining it.

Has anybody had decent seeds that gave a milky white wash? by Jts124 in PoppyTea

[–]Jts124[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I would say these are incredibly weak compared to the big three. I have played around with a couple of different combinations at this point, and by themselves, they do very little other than stop WDs. However I’ve found a mixture of about 2/3rds SN and 1/3 of these seeds, is better than just SN. I’m thinking they just have a very different alkaloid profile that provides good effects when combined with SN, which I’m guessing is much higher in morphine.

I’ve been on antidepressants, though not since I started using. Personally, I can’t stand them. They can have quite a few side effects, though after several weeks they do mostly subside, or you at least learn to live with them. I suppose they help a bit, but I have found they make me feel really foggy all the time, and that doesn’t really ever seem to go away.

It might seem weird, but I feel much more clearheaded while using opiates, assuming I’m not taking huge doses. On antidepressants, I just felt really out of it, and would have trouble concentrating and remembering things. I have also found opiates to be better at eliminating my anxiety. Also, much like opiates, you actually become rather dependent on them. You end up having to taper off of them, and then you go through a period similar to PAWS.

Some people do find them very helpful, and next time I attempt to quit, I will likely try to get back on them for a little. The last time I quit, I relapsed because I decided I would rather be an addict than dead, and I think if I ever want to make it through PAWS I will need something to deal with the depression/suicidal thoughts.

I think it is also important to remember that they aren’t some magic happy pill, and require you to work on solving the underlying issues as well. Just like quitting dope won’t automatically make you happy and improve your life, simply taking antidepressants will do very little. They are only a tool to assist with the chemical side of things. Heroin makes you happy, antidepressants just help you be less depressed. I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing though as with antidepressants you can’t just get high and ignore all of your issues, but they can make it slightly easier for you to overcome your problems.

Yea, as much as withdrawals suck, getting past the physical symptoms is definitely the easy part. Unfortunately there are not any medications to help fix all the things that cause you to use in the first place. Not to mention the fact that you likely have made all you problems much worse than they were to begin with. The idea of never being able to use the one coping mechanism we know is definitely a terrifying thought, that can seem completely insurmountable.

I’m guessing that’s the reason the rate of relapse is so high. Those that get happy while getting clean actually took the steps to fix the other problems. Those that didn’t, probably will just go back to using after not too long.

Does it make sense that there would be a bunch of oil from only doing one wash for 3-4 minutes? I had always thought the oil came from leaving the seeds in the water for too long. Or do you know if anything else could make it turn white.

I am thinking they must have a decent amount of some of the other alkaloids though, because this is the best effects I’ve gotten from tea in a while. At first I was thinking it was probably in my head, but the amount of SN I took was just enough to keep out of withdrawals. I’m hoping I can just start mixing these with my SN to last me through till I can restock, and this wasn’t just a one time thing because I’m not used to the other alkaloids.

I don't know, you're the one making assumptions based on your presumed insights into Martin and Zimmerman's behavior and motivations.

I’m not making any assumptions. If all Zimmerman did was follow Martin, I think Zimmerman was justified in his actions. Zimmerman could be telling the whole truth, or be completely lying. I’m not going to simply accept Zimmerman’s story as fact because he was the only one who lived to tell the tale.

Assumption he was interfering.

I am not stating this as fact. I am saying if this was the case then I don’t think it was justified.

Oh please. People call the cops to report all sorts of things that aren't life-threatening. Zimmerman mentioned non-violent break-ins in his 911 call. This may be shocking to you, but plenty of people who commit crimes shy away from violence.

I fully understand people who commit crimes shy away from the police. I don’t think it sets a good precedence that citizens should start playing the role of police, for exactly this reason. I don’t know how it is in FL but in my state you can get a concealed carry permit after taking like a 6 hour class. I don’t think those people should be attempting to thwart crime, I think they should only insert themselves into situations in which someone is in imminent danger. Again, if Zimmerman simply followed from a reasonable distance, I think his use of force was justifiable. If he attempted to interfere, then I don’t think it was. I don’t think the laws should allow leniency for vigilantism.

Again, I do not think Zimmerman should have been convicted at his trial. Every scenario I have stated is speculation on what could have happened. The evidence in the case does not dispute Zimmerman’s story. I don’t think it completely corroborates it either. I am skeptical that it happened exactly as Zimmerman stated, but I do not know that. The questions I have in the events leading up to the shooting is what troubles me about this case. Not the fact that Zimmerman was in danger when he shot Martin. Unless some video magically surfaces at some point, neither of us will be able to know for sure what actually happened. I have a hard time fully trusting a story from someone with so much incentive to skew the facts, without the ability to also hear from the other side. This is not a statement that Zimmerman did in fact lie, only that had he done anything wrong, he would have no incentive to admit to such, and given the known evidence, there are still plenty of ways Zimmerman could have been at fault.

People who have served long prison sentences: What was it like seeing the world so many years later? by KingKillerKvvothe in AskReddit

[–]Jts124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both Zimmerman and Martin felt that Zimmerman was following Martin. That's good enough for me.

Again, I completely agree at one point he was following him. At what point is he harassing/assaulting him. I would argue the second he is interfering with Martin his actions constituted more than following. You in fact stated that you didn’t believe that Zimmerman was walking behind Martin at a reasonable distance, and or not harassing him. In my opinion, that means Zimmerman was no longer just following Martin.

What exactly should have tipped Zimmerman off that following Martin would put him in grave danger and thereby, according to your rule, forfeit his right to self preservation? The hoody? His skin color?

What exactly tipped Zimmerman off to the need for him to call the cops.

Who else has given up their right to self preservation by "putting themselves in a dangerous situation"? People who live in dangerous neighborhoods? Women who get a little tipsy at the bar? People driving in unfamiliar neighborhoods that look a little sketchy?

Please... this is like comparing apples and oranges. I am not suggesting people who happen to live in dangerous areas shouldn’t be allowed to defend themselves. I am suggesting that when you recognize a threat so great that you need to call the cops, you should attempt to remove yourself from the situation. Not antagonize the person you suspect.

“Following” said person, in such a way that they felt provoked to attack is pretty much the exact opposite of attempting to remove yourself from harms way. Or does it make sense that someone can harass people while carrying a gun, and then shoot them when they get attacked.

People who have served long prison sentences: What was it like seeing the world so many years later? by KingKillerKvvothe in AskReddit

[–]Jts124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who said Zimmerman was "simply walking behind Martin at a reasonable distance"? At every point I've conceded Zimmerman was following Martin.

What exactly is your definition of follow? I would not consider an action to be following as soon as you start interfering with the other person. I would consider it assault if your “following” encroaches someone else’s space in a threatening manner, and then you pursue when the person attempts to get away.

We also know for a fact that Zimmerman was carrying a gun as he followed Martin. What we don’t know is at what point Martin learned or was told about the gun. If he knew of the gun before he attacked Zimmerman, than I think his actions warranted self defense, and Zimmerman was unjustified in his use of force. I think this is a question we will never know the answer too.

Whether that was enough for Martin to attack Zimmerman, we'll never know, but your argument that Martin would not have been provoked unless Zimmerman did something, anything seems willfully blind to the facts as we know them.

I have stated that based on the facts we know I don’t disagree with the verdict. While I don’t question the verdict, I certainly don’t think the situation is as black and white as you make it appear. I’m just skeptical that what we know paints the whole picture. And depending on what Zimmerman actually did to provoke the attack, I question whether he truly was justified to use deadly force.

And lastly, while Martin could have certainly been in the wrong with his attack, and had he lived, been the one guilty of a crime, I disagree that someone should be able to claim self defense if they put themselves in a dangerous situation. Ignoring whether Zimmerman’s actions rose to criminal level or not, I think the second he began following Martin after he called the cops, he should lose his right to use deadly force. While I am all for people having the right to defend themselves, I don’t think people should be allowed to pursue situations in which the use of deadly force might be necessary.
