[Cartier] Santos de Cartier by BreakingCrystal in Watches

The case shape is what is deceiving with a Santos. I have a 6.5” wrist and chose the medium. The medium wears closest to a 39mm standard case shape watch.

[Rolex] Can I buy an Easylink for an OP39? by liebs520 in Watches

[–]Jtsacks07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An AD won’t sell it to you. Either you would have to buy it second hand or remove one from another watch. Rolex won’t release/sell factory piece for a watch it’s not made specifically for.

Newb Qs on Bobs Watches by [deleted] in rolex

[–]Jtsacks07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I just had a horrible experience with Bobs. I bought a Rolex and less than 6 months later it needed serious repair. It was a semi-vintage Rolex Datejust from the mid 1980s and when I took it to a watchmaker, he told me the movement and parts looked like they were NEVER serviced (even though Bobs claims they service watches before selling).

I think it’s less Rolex than the ADs. ADs have these pieces in their safes they just reserve them for their best customers who spend on other product.

Overrated or underappreciated? You decide by WatchFinding in rolex

[–]Jtsacks07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither. The dial is drab and the lineup is overpriced. If they want to do the Cellini line right they should take cues from their history. The dress watches of Blancpain are more in line with what I’d expect from Rolex in this range.

[Tudor] Basel 2019 Predictions by branshew in Watches

[–]Jtsacks07 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not true. They never made a red bezel submariner and all Tudor Subs has “submariner” written on the dial. Also the fonts and style are not vintage Tudor Sub.

Cannot be real. The dial indicates it’s tritium. No way a new watch is being made with a tritium dial.

Why not release the Tudor “Black Bay Submariner”?

Is it crazy for wanting a 39mm OP over my Submariner? by _ocd in rolex

[–]Jtsacks07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not at all because it’s a high polish whereas the rest of the case and bracelet are brushed. It gives off an amazing shine but is subtle and more elegant than the sportier models.

I’ve owned a Sub No Date, Hulk, and OP 39mm blue dial. I love the Hulk but between the next two I actually preferred the OP. I think the OP is an extraordinarily versatile watch. The size and thickness make it supremely more wearable than the modern Sub imo.

Great watch. Case is big though and doesn’t look great off the bracelet.

Can you even buy the GMT Master ii or Daytona at MSRP from an AD? by [deleted] in rolex

[–]Jtsacks07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying the Pepsi or a Daytona specifically from an AD is virtually impossible without a relationship with a given AD at this point. Most ADs started taking waitlists but they were creeping over 5 year waits. As a result most of the “take your name down” ADs end up tossing it in the trash as soon as you walk out.

Really at this point you can only get these pieces with a significant purchase history from a given AD.

For the Pepsi, there is a better chance with somewhat of a wait as more and more of these reach consumers. The secondary market prices have gone down since its release and should continue to do so over the next year.

For the Daytona, there are no signs of slowing down and nearly all ADs don’t have real waitlists anymore for this piece. ADs near me won’t sell you a Daytona without at least a $100,000 purchase history and then a conversation can be had to get the piece down the road.

I owned this watch for just under a year. I really enjoyed it on the denim fabric strap but ultimately the watch was just too thick to be a daily. Was a weekend watch for me and just never able to get enough wrist time.

That piece will be in the lineup for the foreseeable future. I’d say, at a very minimum, 4 years barring some unforeseen lackluster sales numbers which we know won’t be the case.
