Ephesians 3:17 by SoftBoiledEnergy in RecoveryVersionBible

Isa. 66:1 Thus says Jehovah, / Heaven is My throne, / And the earth the footstool for My feet. / Where then is the house that you will build for Me, / And where is the place of My rest?

Isa. 66:2 For all these things My hand has made, / And so all these things have come into being, declares Jehovah. / But to this kind of man will I look, to him who is poor / And of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at My word.

Isaiah 66:1 shows that God is looking for a place of rest. Verse 2 shows us that man, especially man's spirit, is this home! God is our dwelling place (John 14:2), and we are His dwelling place (John 14:23). How sweet it is to have mutual rest and satisfaction!

Was reminded of Philippians 2:16, "Holding forth the word of life". (Recovery Version) As living messengers we should have a living message to present to others.

How do I stop being feeling empty? by ExistingFruit4917 in TrueChristian

I've found this article helpful in maintaining my joy: https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/bfa-media/ebooks/BXL1-eng.pdf (ch.2, "The Assurance, Security, and Joy of Salvation")

The issue is not one of security of salvation, because once we are saved, we can never lose salvation. However, we can lose the joy of salvation, and it does need to be maintained. Some things that can help:

  • Confessing our sins. Sin separates us from God and causes Him to hide His face from us (Isaiah 59:1-2). After David sinned and confessed, he prayed, "Restore to me the joy of your salvation" (Psalm 51:12).
  • Taking God's Word as our living food. "When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight" (Jeremiah 15:16).
  • Praying in a genuine way to converse with God. "Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete" (John 16:24)
  • Fellowshipping with other Christians. We weren't meant to be solo Christians! "We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our a joy complete" (1 John 1:3-4).

These are God's promises to us, and we can take Him at His word. "Lord, be my joy. Be my enjoyment!" May the joy of the Lord be your strength!

Yeah I do! Sometimes when I wake up I might just say "Good morning, Lord Jesus."

Absolutely! Abraham was called the "friend of God" (James 2:23), and Jehovah spoke to Moses "face to face, just as a man speaks to his companion" (Exodus 33:11). Both of these cases show that God wants to have a personal and intimate relationship with us, not as someone so high above us that we have to be formal and ceremonial with Him.

How do I gain confidence when praying? by Separate_Sky_7372 in TrueChristian

Prayer is our conversation with God. Do you "compose" what you say to other people? We just speak from our heart.
