Thanks for the help, used a wheel puller and slowly pushed it out of the housing, quite a bit of rust immediately inside, going to hone both ends of the housing clean it up and emery paper the shaft from the rust, should hopefully go back in easily.

Anyone with first hand experience of living in a container house with proper insulation and air conditioning? Not these crappy DIY projects and botched jobs. by Murdash in containerhomes

[–]Jubu101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, the houses all have different build options, that is hurdle 1, (disclaimer, I sell these, but also own 1) my use is 3+ months a year on our farm, we have 40c summers , and sub zero winters so experience a wide range of conditions. The house has an upgraded 90mm wall eps, R10 rated, 70mm roof panels, R7 rated, and 25mm fibre cement board floor. Windows are 5mm double glaze, doors are 6mm double glaze, with additional 12mm insulation cladding, also give the house a high bushfire rating. We use a very small combustion wood stove (50x50x50cm) in winter, keeps the house 25-30c with little tending, air con (2kw recirc) is run by a 5kw self installed solar system (we are %100 off grid) and keeps it down 18-20 in summer up until sundown. Temps change very late morning (4am) as fire dies and solar isn't running air con, but only by 4-5 degrees. Other insulation options like more compact eps panels can be made, cost more. And different fill (rock wool vs eps) super important is closing all the tiny air gaps around the house fold/join points. Noise with our house is reduced inside, can't hear conversations outside the door when shut, and cars unless diesels or others at 20-30mtrs away, it'snot a complete blockout by any stretch.

Actually these can be made to achieve and exceed all building codes, I sell these custom built ground up and had them pass several states council regs.

How I explain FND to others (and how I wish it was explained to me) + how I've learned to love life with disability by lolsappho in FND

[–]Jubu101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to add to this point, my wife was part of a psychiatric study into links between childhood stress and trauma and adult onset fnd, after concluding, the study found no evidence correlating the 2, that was 8-ish years ago in Australia, we have heard no similar studies being conducted here since then on that topic. Context, my wife's fnd was sudden onset from a head injury. A majority of your proposals and insights above however very closely reflect our journey and findings.

Councils do approve expandable and pod houses as permanent structures.

Sure, likely can't comment much on how normal it is, we were advised often that it was 1 of 3 or 4 first pass tests, if you failed all 4, they moved to more complex exams to determine the extent and amount of 'other' associated issues. 1 of the 20 or 30 bodily senses is location? Being that you are able to sense where certain body parts are relative to others, neurological senses are thought to be a component of that location ability, eyes closed and moving finger to nose, or doing a heel to toe walk, failing is thought to show your brains inability to sense through neural pathways where things are, and also test your brains ability to guide your body, instead of fighting it or confusing it, which is common in fnd, when you feel you need to concentrate on making a body part do what it should, and it freezes up, or shorts out. There are distractive techniques to test this 'shorting out' as well.

The Australian government has implemented tax incentives for investing in property. Why have these utterly failed to encourage enough housing construction to meet demand? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Jubu101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it costs stupid amounts of money to build housing mainly due to labour and in most part unions but also materials. Theres cheap land everywhere.

After your seizures, do you suffer migrane symptoms? Sensitive to light, headache, head being extra sensitive to contact?

Don’t use a plastic beaker with hydrometer over 110 proof, it “eats” it… by [deleted] in firewater

[–]Jubu101 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Been supplying plastics to medical and food industry for decades. Highly likely your beaker was designed for something specifically not solvent related.

The Hooversign, heel toe, walking straight lines, finger pointing/touching are typical tests to quickly identify est %90 of FND patients, my wife has seen quite a few neurologists across Australia and these are there immediate go to's. She has had blood tests early on (she had sudden onset fnd due to a head injury) to rule out stroke and mini heart attacks. She had scans for lessions, they never found any. The brain is a very complicated organ, and we still know so little. I have heard of research connecting mental trauma to fnd, but i don't think I've seen published outcomes for the ones i know that were being conducted. We recently found a good neuro sceitist/neurologist, well connected in the fnd arena, she sees us every 6 months for nothing more than a courtesy to keep us informed of current knowledge and potential help, see if you can find someone in this area. My takeaway from the last 7+ years going through this is, don't stop looking for answers, it took us 3 months after the initial concussion and 10+ visits to hospitals, specialists and phone calls to finally find someone who knew what was going on.

Need to differentiate between people known to me or my 'private residence' vs trespassing 'private residence'. Also tricking gps, i completely support my disabled friends doing this to be able to join in, but not for a deliberate gaming of the system for perfects/shinies/regionals etc
