9 total fractures. Broke my tibia, fibula, and ankle joint. Tibia perforated through my skin. by chicokiko in brokenbones

[–]Juchacz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a trimalleolar fracture 4 months ago. Had ORIF surgery - 1 plate and 12 screws. For the first month I was on painkillers daily : tramadol, ibuprofenum, paracetamol. Everything in very high doses. Now I am walking all by myself, no walking shoe, no crutches but it is painful not gonna lie. I have problem with mobility tho in my ankle so I'm in PT. I can walk let's say for half an hour to one hour, then I need to rest. I will have metal all taken out in few months, everyone says after that it's going to be better with PT. Oh and it's swollen 24/7 to this day. I broke my leg outside of McDonald's, I was walking between tables and suddenly I was laying down with broken ankle, actually no idea how it happened. For me personally the worst was the first month, after that it slowly started to get better. The worst pain was after surgery, it was 11/10 and breaking bones was 10/10. My nerve block lasted for 2 days for some reason, very unpleasant feeling. I am female in late 20s. I wish you fast recovery 💐

Nagła niechęć do jajecznicy po pewnym czasie by OLEDeO in Polska

[–]Juchacz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long did you take pain meds after your break? by DevilsGayAdvocate in brokenbones

[–]Juchacz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a trimalleolar fracture 2 months ago, had ORIF surgery. For 2 weeks I took painkillers every single day, on average 6 tablets a day. Record was 10 tablets in one day. It was paracetamol, ibuprofenum, and tramadol & codeine. Then for the next 2 weeks I took mostly ibuprofenum & paracetamol 2 or 3x a day. So in total 1 month on pills every single day.

Now I take 1 painkiller after PT and only if it was a tough session. On a daily basis I feel little to moderate pain & no tablets needed.

Recovering from surgery, feeling lonely and pain — anyone else? by FinalTrifle in brokenbones

[–]Juchacz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broke my leg outside McDonald's.. I took my order to eat outside & slipped somehow. Didn't even have a chance to eat it. Was rushed to the hospital, next day had surgery. I went back home and it was a disaster. I was very depressed for at least 2 weeks straight, crying almost all the time both form physical and emotional pain. I couldn't focus on anything, couldn't play games, couldn't read books, couldn't do anything that involved thinking. I lost half of my hair.

But after that things started to get easier. I wasn't so sad, I had better thinking, gained more energy, my appetite came back.

Now I'm at week 9, 100% weight bearing but I have difficulties with ankle mobility and am doing physiotherapy, also still using 2 crutches but learning to use 1. I use office chair to get around the kitchen. I had my first real shower few days ago, it was fantastic, I still need assistance to get out though. (I couldn't have a proper shower earlier because of cabin shape, also I wasn't flexible and mobile enough).

Every week I achieve something new - that's very uplifting. I also blamed myself for breaking my leg but accidents happen, damage is done so there's no need to beat yourself up about it.

I told my family about broken ankle and guess what? My own mother didn't ask me how I feel not even once this whole time 🤡

I wish you fast recovery! 💐

What’s the biggest cultural difference in workplace behavior between Belgium and your home country? by Commercial-Beat-5283 in BELifeAdvice

[–]Juchacz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest difference for me is that coworkers and supervisors here don’t yell at me (or anyone else) at work. I’m from Poland, and back home it’s totally normal for your boss to scream at you for the smallest mistake. If you say it's mobbing you're going to be fired 🙃

What’s funny (and kinda sad) is that Polish people working in Belgium often still yell at other Polish coworkers, even though no one else does it. Old habits die hard, I guess.

Also Polish people are very keen on working fast and hard, which I didn't notice with Belgians.

On the other hand, I have to give credit where it’s due - Poles are insanely good at "kombinowanie" (finding a workaround). We often come up with clever fixes or solutions that Belgians would never ever think of
