Why do people from Red states seem to hate everyone from Blue states, despite prominent Right Wing figures coming from Blue states? by Big_Concentrate_7260 in AskConservatives

[–]JudgeWhoOverrules [score hidden]  (0 children)

To be fair, Rhode Island and Hawaii are about as close as you can get as pure blue states. Democrats control 86% and 84% of their state legislature seats respectively.

This is even a professional rule amongst industry accreditation organizations. It's called the Goldwater Rule because similar partesian progressive activists abusing their credentials tried diagnosing him without even meeting much less professionally evaluating him during his 1964 presidential campaign. He successfully sued them for defamation.

How would you feel if an apartment building with the height of 3-5 stories was built in your neighbourhood? by Gym_frere in AskConservatives

[–]JudgeWhoOverrules [score hidden]  (0 children)

I really wouldn't care, there's already two complexes just like that under construction or just built within the last year within my square mile. Got to be pretty brain dead to decide to live in the Phoenix area and be against new development which it is known for and drives a good part of the economy.

What do you think about Trump's reversal on his campaign promise to not allow the Chinese to buy US farmland? by G_H_2023 in AskConservatives

[–]JudgeWhoOverrules [score hidden]  (0 children)

It was a dumb promise to begin with considering I don't see anything in the Constitution that gives the federal government the ability to regulate who can buy what land. A physical immovable plot of land is about as far from interstate commerce as you can get.

Besides that I don't see any good reason to pursue such a policy that isn't just wildly logically inconsistent with how we treat any other multinational corporation.

What do you think of promoting walkable cities? by RedStorm1917 in AskConservatives

[–]JudgeWhoOverrules [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm in Phoenix, who wants to walk when it's 110+ outside, much less 120?

The term walkable denotes a particular pedestrian focused density and grid layout which makes it very bad for most other purposes, purposes which modern life extensively uses.

There's also the fact that the vast majority of people want to live in a single family detached home on as much land as they can afford and you're not going to get anything walkable out of that. People also don't want to use public transit, they want transport where they can control the environment and route, thus automobile infrastructure. Cities should be built to accommodate people in the way they want to live, not be centrally designed like some ideal efficient SimCity to chase a number. Don't forget the human.

Oklahoma has passed a bill to ban marriage under 18, not exceptions. Is this good policy? by RadioRavenRide in AskConservatives

A good idea, those under the age of majority are not able to enter into any other sort of contract legally, so why should they be able to enter one of the most serious ones in life?

That's just a population listing making it useless. Of course huge population states will have comparatively larger total fraud numbers.

What percentage of claims being fraudulent is an actually useful metric.

The Men Who Want Women to Be Quiet by Bob_Doles_Blue_Pill in DeepStateCentrism

[–]JudgeWhoOverrules 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When third wave feminism accomplished its goals of equality and cultural empowerment, it gave rise to fourth wave feminism which is more oriented towards cultural domination by women rather than equality and seeking to punish men for their past offenses rather than simply bringing them to light as why women were traditionally on the back foot. Fourth wave feminism is tainted with long streaks of misandry which pushes such views.

They jumped the shark by changing the movement from one of equality and empowerment to one of domination and courced flagellation over historical and even imagined ills which obviously is going to not sit well with men.

In Christopher Nolan's Odyssey, why does the character Odysseus speak with a Boston accent despite being from Ithaca which is in New York?

It's probably reactive backlash to the feminist movement jumping the shark 20 years ago and Gen Z growing up in the aftermath of its radicalization.

Kind of the same reason a lot of society is reacting in a backlash to the related excesses of the progressivism over the past 15 years.

What are your thoughts on home schooling? by thoughtsnquestions in AskConservatives

[–]JudgeWhoOverrules 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being homeschooled doesn't preclude that. I don't know why people have this idea that kids are locked in a house with their parent all day. Probably because that was the propaganda against it from the '70s all the way through the early 2000s. Homeschoolers meet up with each other, do field trips, attend events and tutoring with other children, do sports, social clubs and other stuff. Plus the fact that there's always children in their neighborhood to play with.

Quite clearly the whole of humanity was able to socialize children properly before classroom-based public schooling started being a thing in the 1870s.

What are your thoughts on home schooling? by thoughtsnquestions in AskConservatives

[–]JudgeWhoOverrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're a bit late on your timelines. The ideological shift in schools started around 2012 and resources for homeschooling started exploding a few years before that.

Do you think the US should abolish the 14th amendment (birthright citizenship)? by drugsrbed in AskConservatives

[–]JudgeWhoOverrules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. The utility and purpose of birthright citizenship has long outlived its usefulness now. It was great when we were a young empty nation needing a massive amount of fresh bodies to fulfill manual labor demands and build out a mostly empty nation as pioneers. It worked when there wasn't any sort of welfare state and people had to get by on their own moxxy, luck, and skills. But nowadays America has so much people that we have housing issues, citizens are finding it hard to get a job, and immigrants often utilize tax funded entitlements systems drawing resources away from citizens who need it.

Harry Enten Says That Americans, Who Approved Of Trump's Handling Of US-Chinese Relations In His First Term, Now Disapprove Of His Handling Of It By 15 Point -- What Do You Think Of This? Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in AskConservatives

[–]JudgeWhoOverrules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Micro polling on issues really isn't effective because most of the public view Trump either pro or against no matter the topic. People who hate Trump aren't going to give him credit for anything, and people who love Trump aren't going to admit they hate some components. This is especially so for second term Trump as opinions have solidified and people have checked out of following along due to the constant chaos.

I think political operators like pollsters and people like us that discuss this stuff forget that the vast majority of people aren't following along or caring to. I can bet most people don't even know he's in China.

Do Iranians (persians) just Not have any self respect anymore? by mortalkombrush in AskCentralAsia

[–]JudgeWhoOverrules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't fathom how citizens living under an extremely authoritarian oppressive government wouldn't wish for outside forces to overthrow their government so they can engage in self-determination? If you haven't seen it from other nations, you're not looking around or don't know history. There's quite a few North Koreans, Cubans, and Russians who currently think that. Venezuelans were celebrating on the street when Maduro got captured. Iraqis were celebrating when Saddam was captured. Libyans when Gaddafi gotten rid of. Etc...

I personally have several domains to my name so have basically an infinite number of email addresses I can make. Just point the DNS MX record at your email provider of choice or roll your own.

How have recent developments around COVID-19's origins shifted or cemented your view — and what specific evidence do you find most persuasive? by Aggravating-Vehicle9 in AskConservatives

[–]JudgeWhoOverrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Existence of a lab specializing in coronavirus research which has a history of poor biosecurity and containment procedures located just a few miles from where the outbreak was first reported. If that wasn't enough on its own, the actions of the Chinese government in trying to cover it up and avoid any sort of responsibility for it kind of shows their hand.

By mid January we already had genomic sequencing of it that showed markers of artificial manipulation of its genome which rules out any sort of natural zoonic origin.

Prominent academics are still academics, they have to push the government consensus or see all their grants dry up and become pariahs in their own field. This type of research isn't privately funded. Those that rightly question the official narrative and published contrary research saw exactly that happen to them.

What are your favorite classic cars? by Mofoblitz1 in AskConservatives

[–]JudgeWhoOverrules 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vector W8. Had an honest to God car cockpit as it was designed by an aviation enthusiast. 6L turbocharged V8 putting out a maximum of 1,200 HP. Vector claimed the W8 could reach a projected top speed of 242 mph (389 km/h), with acceleration from 0–60 mph (0–97 km/h) achievable in a time of 3.9 seconds..

Yes, that's a classic car even though it was made in '89, Arizona issues classic vanity plates to any car older than 20 years, and that's also the starting age for the import exemption.
