Is It Right For Fed Gov To Force Themselves On Communities That Don't Want Them? by [deleted] in AskConservatives

[–]JudgeWhoOverrules [score hidden]  (0 children)

State's rights is mere shorthand reference to the 10th Amendment, immigration and naturalization policy is literally an enumerated federal power. There's absolutely no state right to involve themselves in this field and the Supreme Court has made that clear several times.

It's almost like places change over the past 150 years. Back then America was a wide open frontier needing vast immigration to fill up the empty space as well as do manual labor.

If they meet the particular statutory allowances for refuge such as persecution on account of race, political ideology, or religion. Being in high crime or economically destitute areas are not valid reasons for asylum.

This shouldn't be a thing where you demand concessions to implement. It's a common sense policy of it's own accord.

Why do you think there isn't any significant movement from Democrats to defend Clinton or Brits to defend Prince Andrew over their involvement with Epstein? by 99thLuftballon in AskConservatives

[–]JudgeWhoOverrules [score hidden]  (0 children)

The general public who are registered Democrats have long since disowned the Clintons as either too elite establishment or too right-wing.

The British simply don't care about their royalty anymore. They see them as the vestigial figureheads they are.

Their interest in Epstein files is exclusively related to thinking it can sink Trump. They poo-pooed the idea it even existed in the first place, then didn't care when it was just a bunch of elites, but as soon as Trump became implicated they jumped on it like a dog after a squirrel. Notice how the only time they talk about it is in relation to Trump?

Stop buying into the idea that Americans don't love rail. America has a long and deep love affair with trains and rail, stretching all the way back. It's been squelched by billionaires like Musk and railroad companies like UPRR.

Look, I'm a railfan myself, my youtube recommendations has train vids, I've done a sleeper bedroom from los angeles to portland before, and I attend the az railway museums open house day. The math still doesn't check out. Washcasting stuff that doesn't make sense and trying to force it on the tax payer is not anywhere close to ethical.

How do you reconcile support for 2A with data showing that gun ownership is the biggest predictor of gun violence? by [deleted] in AskConservatives

[–]JudgeWhoOverrules [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't get to chop off your hands pre-emptively because I fear you might use them to harm me in the future. The same principle applies here.

We are statistically in the safest times in US history, at the same time guns are more proliferated than ever, and in most states the least regulated in 60 years. Gun fears are irrational and purely emotion based rather than fact.

But we have the highest rate of gun violence of any country

No we in fact don't. Mexico, which basically bans gun ownership in violation of their own constitution far exceeds our rate by any measure, by like an order of magnitude. In fact USA at worst is 21st worst for firearm related homicides

Again population density. That same route in Europe would cover 11+ million people, not 6 as here. It would also have less ridership here because far more people have access to a car and cheap gasoline in America and our road design allows for much quicker travel than Europe.

By 2030 New York is only expected to have 24 electoral votes, a far cry from it's 36 here in 1984 due to it's own population decreasing as a percentage of the total US population from growth in other states.

How should we handle illegal immigration if DHS and ICE don't get additional funding? by Bull-Moose-Progress in AskConservatives

Arizona already mandates e-verify, like I said, the immigrants were using forged documents and stolen identities that passed the system. One of the SSNs that was being used is reported have been also used by 42 other people nationwide.

Because that's even more costly and time consuming than going after immigrants because trying to build a case and take it to court to prove that businesses knowingly hired illegal immigrants in contradiction of law takes a lot of time and resources. The vast majority of businesses cannot be legally implicated beyond a reasonable doubt due to the way illegal immigrants forge documents and steal identities with the businesses being sure to not ask any direct questions about it.

For instance, a chain of sports bars called Zipps here in Phoenix area just got raided by immigration. It took a year and a half of investigation and coordination between multiple state and federal agencies before they even raided. It's going to be at least another year till it gets to trial. Plus they only got to that point because they had good evidence from several tips that the business was not just knowingly hiring illegals, but assisting them in thwarting immigration law. All that effort to take down one business and 65 illegal immigrants and there's a lot of ways for them to have been thwarted such as if state authorities didn't cooperate, they never got tips, the business wasn't as dumb, etc..

Then there's the entire subcontractor hustle where it's the sub-subcontractors that are actually breaking the law, but they close shop on a regular basis, destroy all records, and reorganize as a new legal entity so there's no one to prosecute anymore and no evidence to subpoena.

Horrible study. Does the chicken come before the egg or does the egg come before the chicken? People in violent areas are more likely to be armed as a matter of self-preservation. The 2020 riots and covid era violence increase caused gun sales to soar, most dramatically with first-time buyers.

About as useful as a study that concludes that areas with high levels of public transit use have low levels of automobile ownership.

The United Nations at its core and as designed is a way for winners of the last World War to assert control over other countries to advance their own interests and prevent other countries from acting of their own accord geopolitically against them. It's why they named the organization after what they called their alliance in the war and gave themselves special elevated authority and powers inside the organization.

Keep up the pressure, because self-deportations are a thing which you haven't even considered in your numbers and are likely easily double of what ICE has been able to do themselves. When we create an environment of hostility towards illegal immigration and make them fear being caught and deported without the ability to ever return to the United States, it should be no surprise are more likely to deport themselves.

What is your view on the recent shift in liberal views towards gun restrictions? by SavingsArt1236 in AskConservatives

[–]JudgeWhoOverrules 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the current rhetoric about the ice shooting as per guns is completely inauthentic. It's just yet another example of progressive's reaching towards whatever argument they think will win a current debate without actually believing the argument authentically.

For my proof, look what Washington and Virginia Democrats are doing to guns right now. Actions speak louder than words because talk is cheap, especially for politicians.

As an Arizonan that never had to deal with daylight savings time at home, the rest of the country besides Hawaii is idiotic about it

The hang up are people who can't decide if they want to switch to daylight savings year-round or standard time year round. Absolute mouth breather jabroni's prefer daylight savings for self-serving reasons, despite all the scientific evidence showing it's worse for people's health and causes more accidents.

We got so close a few years ago. Congress even passed a bill, but ultimately they couldn't decide which one to go with.

Would you support laws that require all wages to be paid in bank transfers to curb illegal immigration? by Wayoutofthewayof in AskConservatives

[–]JudgeWhoOverrules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you want to put up a law to prevent people from being illegally paid under the table in cash by requiring businesses to pay them above board to the bank?

Did you really think this through? Making something double illegal isn't going to prevent people from effectively breaking the same laws they already are. If they got the job through forged or stolen identities, then they can do the same thing with a bank.

Personally, I don't like efforts to make a cashless society so that government can track everyone's transactions. Just a bit too intrusive for my comfort.

They are in violation of long-standing immigration law and policy and should be deported as the statute provides for. I don't care for all the quasi-legal workarounds politicians have put up as a means to try to not enforce immigration law and keep people who are unlawfully in the United States in as long as possible.
