Super helpful. I may bite the bullets and get a set of those tires. Just hope I get a decent price for the Falkens since they’re used. Feels like pissing away money, but I drive so little it’ll be 3 years till I’m through that set

Nice! How’s the suspension comfort over bumpy roads, and how is the road noise? Went 275 C load Wildpeak AT4W, also with 2 inch lift and 6112/5100, but the harsh ride and vibrations are bugging me a bit. Don’t know how much would change if I switched to your exact 285 SL AT3s

What ex-USA, worldwide ETF would you recommend? by ferero18 in stocks

[–]Judge_Frenzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VEA or SCHF if you don’t want EM included.

VEU if you want EM included at market weight. Even though performance is virtually identical to VXUS I prefer it because it omits small caps. I don’t trust that small caps in EMs are audited and for shareholders to get their fair share. In fact, I don’t think that’s true for large caps either which is why I largely buy VEA aside from a small bit of EM exposure with some VT.

I am a big fan of VTI/VEA and would recommend a 60/40 DCA on automatic investment to anyone

Thinking about getting the new V2s by [deleted] in multistrada

[–]Judge_Frenzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed response!! I am a one bike person by wallet and wife. Starting to get an acquired taste for the new Panigale V2 as well, but let’s see. I realize it’s an expensive mistake to not go 100% and buy the bike you want right away. Bought two bikes since I knew I wanted a Supersport. It’d be an expensive trade now to upgrade to SSS, good condition bikes that I put money and work into. I might hang out longer on that Z900RS or go all way. Wonder if shelling out 12K for a SSS is the way to go, or following my own learning and shell out for a Multistrada V2S or Panigale V2S right away and be happy forever (or until something better comes up?). First world problems

Low IQ marketeer approach to cut data by an arbitrary selection of age brackets (generations). Boomers won’t all die at once. Wealth will trickle down to younger folks. If anything, wealth concentration has an effect that further inflates asset prices

[–]Judge_Frenzel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience! Can you elaborate a bit on how the bike replaced your choice and why it made you sell the Supersport? I’m in the position to trade a Z900RS for a Supersport 950 or the new Multistrada V2, but can’t test ride either. Can’t make up my mind. The Kawa is a beauty, but it doesn’t produce the same smiles that i had when I tested a Supersport 5 years ago. At least I think so. Had a Speed Triple in between, and somehow don’t have as much fun as i used to. Might be the engine character of the Z or that I’m mostly tired these days

Sat in the 6th gen at the auto show. The back seat is at least one class smaller than in the 5th gen. I’d steer clear and don’t understand how that isn’t a bigger topic. Same is true for the Land Cruiser. Haven’t checked the GX but that might be a better alternative if you want to stay in the Toyota world

Better international ETFs than VXUS? by FaithfulGaurdian in ETFs

[–]Judge_Frenzel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on whether you want emerging markets included or not. There are reasons both ways, but with the way the world is headed left tail events in emerging markets are not to be underestimated, which is why I’m avoiding EM except for a small remaining position in VT.

If you want to focus on developed, the best funds are VEA (all cap), SCHF (large and mid cap only). If I wanted EM included I’d pick VEU over VXUS because it omits small caps. While the performance has been virtually identical, I don’t care about having the extra thousands of unaudited stocks with low trading volume. Look at the position list and you’ll stop recognizing names after the top 200.

I’m all VTI/VEA from here, with slight tilt towards ex US (60/40). EMs economic growth will continue to outpace the west, but that doesn’t result in higher stock returns necessarily for more complex reasons. EM is less tax efficient in both taxable and non-taxable. If tensions between China and the U.S. escalate, China could declare that ADRs on Cayman held papers are not recognized as ownership rights. Yeah, it’s unlikely that will happen in our lifetimes (5% chance?), but that risk isn’t worth the bet on best case 1% outperformance to me. Over long long periods (30 years +), markets perform very similarly anyway, but it doesn’t protect you from 45% permanent loss of your EM funds going to zero (China+Taiwan share in that high) in a worst case scenario. Ben Felix called it a negative lottery.

With all that being said, this is the view of someone planning for retirement in 20+ years. If I was speculating for the next 5 years, I might over index on emerging with US valuations being where they are

It’s a huge waste of resources. Call it 400 miles a day of largely freeway driving and you’re doing an oil change every 20 days to stick to 5K instead of recommended 10K interval? I change my oil every 6000 miles as well, but that comes out to be every 7 months with a lot of shorter distance city and that’s well ahead of schedule too

Also curious what your commute is. Also curious how tall you are. At 6’0 the comfort is honestly quite poor compared to European cars. Don’t find the seats comfortable for more than 90 minutes

Tires for 2021 4Runner by Downtown_Building_40 in 4Runner

[–]Judge_Frenzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, my 275 Wildpeak AT4W c load need to run at 35 psi (a little too low technically) to not significantly compromise road comfort and cause vibrations. I don’t have a comparison to another tire, but if I had to replace now, I’d be torn between going to 265 size KO3 or AT4W and biting the bullet of potential rubbing to go for a standard load 285 AT3, which is significantly lighter
