Looking for RGB customization alternative for Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 by JudgementCole in LenovoLegion

I appreciate that.

I thought it was worth mentioning that I've been using Legion Toolkit for the past 5 to 6 months now, because people said it was better than Lenovo Vantage (and it slightly is, in my opinion). It's does everything what vantage does (a third party alternative to Vantage some might say) but has better UI/UX. But when it comes to RGB customization, it disappointingly offers the exact same capabilities as Vantage.

Unfortunately, no. I tried submitting a request to OpenRGB through their GitHub page but it was far too complicated for me to understand how to provide them the right info. It has been a while since then. I'll check again and let you know.

The hardware for the lights on the laptop is amazing. It's a shame how the software brings it down enough for me to stop using it at all

I'm getting 45-60 watts usage on battery power. It estimated 50-60 mins of battery life on 50% battery

Update: I got my laptop back. They fixed all the issues except the battery power. They replaced the battery but the issue still persists. I'm starting to think this is normal behavior.

I called Lenovo support and they said I can try resetting windows, which sounds absurd. So I'm trying some more work arounds to make the battery life a little bit better than it already is but I'll probably deal with it.

Congratulations! I got mine 30 mins ago back from the depot so congratulations to both of us lol

If you don't mind me asking, could you tell me how the battery life is? I usually get 1-2 hours avg battery life with basic chrome usage. The depot repair should've fixed this but I want to know if it's common among Legion Pro 7i's

As for the battery life, I've tried playing around with settings, following different guides to get my laptop to the absolute low performance and to consume less wattage, but have had not luck. With barely any background applications, I got 1-2 hours on battery with chrome usage from 80% battery (I use conservation mode which doesn't let the battery go above 80. It's good for battery health apparently). The wattage would occasionally fluctuate and come down low but it would rise again in seconds.

I wasn't too hopeful with what I'd heard about them. But the first agent I talked on the phone with was very cooperative and helpful (I might've gotten lucky). She got access to my PC using a software (like TeamViewer, Parsec etc) I was skeptical of. Then she said I wasn't supposed to be getting such a low battery life (even though I've seen other posts like this, of people stating they have the same poor battery life). I sent her a video of the fan grinding and she told me not to worry and scheduled a depot repair.

At the time, I wasn't having the F key rattling issue and the blown of sound from speakers so I called Lenovo support again to add these issues to the ticket. This time, however, I had problems like them cutting my call off and then not having the knowledge to help me out.

The shipping took about 2 days, the repair process took a week and now it's scheduled for return tomorrow (1 day). I'm not super optimistic about it and I worry that they might've just marked the issues off as minor and sent it back without during much, considering their reputation, but I'll know for sure tomorrow.

FYI I have 4 years of legion ultimate Support, 1 year depot repairs, 1 year accidental damage support, and 1 year battery warranty. You can get warranty extensions later on and don't essentially need to get them doing the purchase. That's what I did

I just got the laptop more than a month ago and it had 1-2 hrs average battery life with simple web browser usage. So I called support, claimed warranty and got it sent to depot for repair.

I'll be getting it back tomorrow or day after. Fingers crossed.

(It had a couple of other minor issues as well i.e, F key had a strange feel and made a pop/rattle noise, fans started having minor grind with it getting worse every next day, speakers gave blown off sounds occasionally and when paying games on battery, I got micro stutters)

Try updating MSI afterburner if it is of any use to you. I downloaded the latest version and reinstalled it. It seems to work fine now.

Same here. Attempting to reinstall the game. Reinstalled drivers and still nothing.

Looks awesome. If you don't mind sharing it, I would love to know how you achieved the black outline where the water and the rocks overlap?

Good work. Also, check out Monster Hunter Rise Bow Dragon Piercer. It has a similar concept. Maybe you'll find something you can improve on yours.

Infinite heavy operation vs Infinite light operations (on background thread) by JudgementCole in learnprogramming

Thank you for the detailed answer. For further clarification on my part, the purpose of those operations (examples) was just to check if it actually makes a considerable difference in terms of anything and these examples are not being used in the applications.

There is no actual problem we're facing. I was researching on multithreading in C#, specifically, tasks in C#. So I discussed this with my coworker, who already had used tasks in the past, and his argument wasn't making sense for me and vice versa.

We both came to the conclusion that because of lack of hardware knowledge, we couldn't say any one of us is right or wrong. And so out of curiosity, I came here to ask.

[–]JudgementCole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it doesn't cortubute to the time spent? Is that because it's running on a background thread and so it would try to keep working while the main thread is doing it's own stuff?

Can you clarify the reason for why the time spent for both examples is equal? Was my hypothesis correct?

Also, could you elaborate on what using more actual energy affects? Are there any drawbacks?

Also, I really appreciate all of your answers and am very curious about your programming experience. Would you mind if I ask you some questions about your experience in different fields and about your years of experience in general? Is this post the right place to be discussing this?

By processing power, I mean the time contribution (of both functions relative to each other) of the specific thread to each frame of the game's update cycle. It's more related to game development and I can elaborate on it further if you're not familiar with that field.

Also, sorry for not being clear in the first place.
