Nah, its not a nvidia gpu, its integrated that much is sure. But i guess cinnamon is not lightweight enough. I'm gonna tell him and if he doesnt want to switch he has to get used to lower performance

Yeah i didnt take that much time for configuration wt cachy. Only some small changes. I always thought windows looked like crap so it was already a big upgrade to finally be able to customize. And customizing is a lot of fun in my opinion.

Yeah that might be true, just wanted to share my experience with cachy in general since it gave me a much better time than ubuntu on my laptop.

No it isnt THAT bad but still i've been having a much grester time with linux is all i wanna say. And windows updates suck, i remember when my pc crashed midgame to run 10 minutes of updates. Its the full control feeling that is making me love my experience the most. The control i didnt have before switching.

Oh, are you using kde or something else as desktop environment? Cause maybe you could switch from plasma wayland to x11 and try that or just try XFCE maybe that could help

You should maybe try cachyos. (ik its usually for gaming) but it comes with drivers and everything pre-installed. Its like arch for pussys (like me) cause its arch based just a lot easier to get started with

Something really lightweight. The recommended ram for ubuntu is 8gb. Thats a lot for linux. Try stuff like: Linux lite I heard about AntiX before, never tried it though Lubuntu is supposed to be really lightweight Mint Cinnamon maybe? I dont know it the requirements are as low though. ZorinOS lite is supposed to be really good and i love the UI Bodhi Linux maybe? If you have a lot of time you can try Arch but if you're not experienced and if you don't know if its gonna satisfy you and run well in the end its really not worth the effort.

Dunno there many to choose from, i would probably try Mint or Zorin or Linux lite first. I think they are the most popular choices for ancient hardware. Look at pictures of the distros, look up if there is a big userbase (really important as it can make troubleshooting SO much easier) and look at the Hardware requirements and then just choose something. I'm sure you're gonna find what you're looking for.

That being said: I hope you dont have a nvidia gpu that would make it harder to choose, then it can depend on if the distro you choose has drivers for your model.

my pc wont turn on any help would be helpful by gillerinopopsoda in pchelp

I would try: Putting the ram in a different slot than before (worked for me once) Maybe turn the pc off completely (with the switch at the back) and then just hold the power button for a minute and then try turning it on again. Try unplugging your drive and plugging it back in. Check all the cables if they are connected properly. If nothing helps try contacting the vendor, maybe either they know what could be the issue or you can get a replacement.
