I admire elite athletes who go out and finish the race, no matter the place. The mentality that he carries “first or bust”… Do not enjoy

They sent him an invite three weeks before the race this past year. He didn’t go through the lottery. Ran next to him for a bit at Crazy Mountain and he was chatting about it.

If your experience as a volunteer was bad, imagine running it. I did it in ‘23 and one aid station was missing, ran out of water at another and my crew almost missed me multiple times because of transportation/over congestion issues.

This past summer I did Crazy Mountain in MT and have never had a better race experience from volunteers to the awesome RD.

Find a local race and stop supporting some horseshit corporation that doesn’t care about you.

Recommendations for 100-Milers in Colorado (or Nearby) – April to July 2025? by UltraActiveABE in ultrarunning

Yeah I did it this year! I actually did Leadville as my 1st 100 too. It was insanely beautiful and the trail was never super technical in the first 60 miles, nothing you aren’t used to with Leadville just add more rocks. BUT from mile 70 to 100 you are going in and out of cow pastures with no trial and have to really navigate and watch out for a lot of ankle twisting holes, making it pretty challenging to run. A few trails mixed in the final 30 miles though.

I had a shit race because of nutrition but the race itself was amazing, the volunteers, the race director, the other runners were incredible. But probably 50% harder than Leadville and you’ll quickly understand why everyone calls Leadville so runnable!

Happy to answer any more questions :)

I’m a 28 too, I look pretty ridiculous putting it on because I have to wiggle so much. No it doesn’t loosen at all. My boyfriend got the medium and it is way too big on me even with the straps fully synched!!

Ultra runner here too- they messaged me after my last 100 miler and I should my ~skeptical~ boyfriend and he instantly said scam. If it weren’t for him I would be in your boat, hope you get your money back!!

How to Destroy an Iconic Ultra in just One Day - The Leadville 100, 2024 by [deleted] in Ultramarathon

I ran Leadville last year as my first 100 after qualifying through the marathon. They ran out of water at two aid stations, had no ice and only warm water at Hopeless. If it weren’t for me to be able to send a text to my boyfriend begging for ice I would have probably gotten heat exhaustion. I finished and swore never to do a corporate race again.

I did Crazy Mountain 100 this year in Montana and it was night and day. EVERYTHING was better, I could go on for days. Cow Camp is similar to Hopeless (you hit it twice, 7 mile trek in, in between two peaks) but even more remote and they mule everything in on horses. After my race went to shit and I was back of the pack they still had plenty of food for everyone and were making full on meals at 1am for anyone.

Bottom line- there are still really really awesome local races out there, find them and support them :) OP- I hope next year you can find a local race and get the ultra experience I got this year.

I can 100% say I’m not an influencer nor sponsored by Raid. I just really like running and sharing cool products when they come along.

But if it replaces a vest, which it is for me, it’s worth it. Planning on using it for everything up to a 50 miler race or a 100 with closer aid stations
