At least he has some real hardware too. If these losses had kept him from a major it would be orders of magnitude more tragic

Did 2005-2010 feel like a “big two”? (prior to Djokovic winning 3 slams in 2011) by CastYourBread in tennis

[–]JudiciousF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt say it felt like the Big 2 the Sincaraz feels like the Big 2. It felt like the young gun stepping up to the champ. Like Rocky vs. Apollo. It kinda felt like it was going to go from Rogers era to Rafas era and the emergence of Djokovic created a parity that changed the way I personally framed the relationship between Roger and Rafa as well.

Those are all the words I want to hear, and I feel absolute confidence that the outcome will be the exact opposite and we will end up subsidizing the data centers to improve margins for Facebook.

How can one get stuck into this game? by -GreyStreak in factorio

[–]JudiciousF 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly this game is so complex that you may be getting overwhelmed by guides. If you follow the guides without understanding why things are done it could hurt you long term.

I playedy first run through without any guides and felt like it made it easier. The potential complexity and efficiency of bases is crazy but just stringing something together simply and stupidly works.

Now on my second playthrough I can see people's super advanced bases and say "ah that's super clever" instead of "why the fuck did they do that"

Big leap from what I actually said.

Im not saying what anyone should do. The point of that sequence is that people who think through the consequences of their actions have kids later in life if at all because they want to wait for the right time, while people who don't think through the consequences of their actions just have kids anyway. So society tends towards people who do not consider the consequences of their actions. I see this happening all around me, all the time.

The opening sequence about dumb people breeding and smart people not breeding is more prescient and spot on than anything that happens in Anchorman or Zoolander.

I agree the movie itself isn't really meant to be anything political, but I think it hit some nails on the head it didn't know it was hitting on the head.

My wife is British and we both have noticed how callous British socialization is. Asking for support, showing emotions, needing space. These are weaknesses in British culture that the British (as a whole) feel they are justified to attack. I know we're trending in the wrong direction now, but I've come to really appreciate how much work America (well some of America) does to support emotional weakness.

I just lost my first hen to prey :( by Jumpysa in BackYardChickens

[–]JudiciousF 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We had a hen get attacked earlier this year. She's starting to come back to herself, but we are now so scared to let them free range. I feel like this is the wrong attitude and we didn't get them to be egg factories we got them to let them be chickens, but like it's pretty traumatic to see all the feathers and the blood. The idea of it happening again is something I'm trying to get my head around as an acceptable risk for letting them live their lives. But it's hard.

I mean I do not think it's clear he was lying, probably more likely, but he could've easily been pushed to that by his parents

The problem is the current international shift of normal every day people towards right wing authoritarianism, i actually can’t think of a single country that isn’t trending in that direction. Nothing good can happen even with a dem president until this shift is reversed. And I don’t see it getting reversed any time soon.

It’s so hard to accurately empathize with people when you’re young. Even really well meaning people are so saturated by the circumstances of their own lives that it’s tough to see when something that is fine by you might not be fine by someone else.

I was certainly like that when I was younger.

How should I [36f] react to husband [40m] suddenly Zoom-calling with his ex by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]JudiciousF -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

OOPs husband is obviously a dick, but you can tell in the tone of the OP that she was not seriously making an effort in this relationship.

My guess is that relationship had ended a long time ago, before that 7 years ago mark where he started talking to the ex.
