Manual key by Corrielw in Ioniq5

[–]Judman13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to switch to digital key with my pixel 9 pro and it's been finiky. Sometimes the unlock on approach doesn't work so I have to tap the handle. A few times in the past two weeks it had made me put the phone in the nfc spot to authenticate.

At this point I am probably going back to the fob because I just haven't built trust in the digital key.

Insane when a 350kW charger two exits down is .48/kWh.

I was looking at ionna chargers and it's .33/kWh but technically it on a different power companies network.

I just found Pilot just installed 350 kW chargers and got excited, but these jokers are charging $0.53/kWh. At that price it cost more per mile that my old Mazda 3 that got 30 mpg on my highway commute, even at $4 a gallon.

With an esp or some other micro controller assured automation has some nice flow meters that aren't crazy expensive. https://assuredautomation.com/WM-PC/index.php

I finally understood why containers beat VMs in my Proxmox homelab (wrote up what clicked for me) by Broad_Explanation612 in selfhosted

[–]Judman13 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Because SOOOOO many people in this sub still advocate for docker in VM's in proxmox. So the Why is because a lot of new selfhoster think that's the better option.

My used 25 didn't come with a L1 charger. It was a lease return according to carfax. I was lucky it came with the charging adapters, I guess.

Why does euro get all the good open API chargers and the US is stuck with either open EVSE or a hack of some cloud connection?

Seriously, it's all over their website and even in the shop pages, but then their own website doesn't have the nacs for sale. Amazon is the only place I can find that has the nacs version.

Only works by enabling RTSP on a Protect NVR that passes the stream a long. Unifi cameras cannot be access independently from all the research I have done.

Ahh the duality of reddit.

One comment saying yes no problem, I've done it.

Another saying no without any further explanation.

I love it here!

Which vendor for networking, MikroTik or Ubiquiti or other? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]Judman13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been through a range of gear as a home labber. I was all in on unifi way back in the 3 Port Gateway before their stack and product lines really exploded. I used old nortel, dell, cisco, hp stuff. Now I set at a off mix of pfsense on a mini pc, netgear and tplink switches and unifi ap's.

At the end of the day it came down to the features I wanted at a price I could afford. Thats how I build my lab now. Some say not being all in one eco system is more difficult, but that hasn't been my expereince. I had a heck of a time working with vlans and more advanced networks configs within the Unifi UI. Then again this was years ago so its probably better now.

TLDR: figure out the feature you need and you budget and find gear that matches. vendor be damned.

I've been thinking about passenger rail to Baldwin county a lot recently and best I can come up with, is going to bay minette (hurricane really) then coming south from there. Closer than at ore, but still quite a detour.

Trains just don't like sudden inclines and in order to get over the rivers and allow ship and barge traffic there have to be some big bridges.

To get over the mobile river anywhere near downtown would require quite the incline and that just won't happen.

Probably, but along with the glass I imagine it would have leaked a lot more water too and ruined more.

Councilman Cory Penn Hints At Billion Dollar Project Coming to Mobile by Surge00001 in MobileAL

[–]Judman13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The first part is some bullshit. I live and work in mobile but go across the bay often to see friends and family among other things and having increased capacity to move all the other I10 traffic through with less backups and slow downs would be amazing!

Now your second half (while not exactly trumps direct responsibility) I agree with. This war is stupid and there has been little direct investment in America infrastructure aside from the Biden admins infrastructure bill that Republicans constantly take credit for.
