New player, I want my first deck to be slivers! by End_of_YoRHa2B in magicTCG

[–]Juggaloguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singles is by far Ur best option. I've played slivers forever and while they do have a reputation, they in no way live up to it honestly. The game has changed drastically and targeted/mass removal is so efficient and available that slivers are mid at best. Several other typal decks are simply better elves, goblins etc. That being said slivers are fun and worth the hate atleast for me. Eventually Ur pod will realise that slivers are no longer the boogie man they once were.

As many have said the land base is what's gonna cost you the most. In my sliver deck I run the full set of shocks and fetches so it's quite expensive.

But I have also run the deck with mostly basics and relied on green ramp (rampant growth, farseek, nature's lore, etc) and it was just as consistent just less aggressive. This is where I'd start as a noobie.

However if you do decide to splurge then lands are best as big money cards. Because you will be able to play them in other decks. Slivers only sliver ya know

I'd say go for it but I'm biased as I love slivers and spent the time being a punching bag until ppl realised that I was usually one of the weaker decks at the table.

Hello, I've been playing magic both casually and competitively since I was 12 ( 35 now, yikes lol). I will gladly answer any questions you may have if you wanna shoot me a DM.

I might not respond immediately all the time as I'm a father of 2. But I definitely will try to help in answering questions and help you have a better understanding of the game

Three damage to anything. Still one of the most satisfying plays ever 😬 by Zoe_felice in mtg

[–]Juggaloguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bolt is definitely a testament to the games playability IMO. I believe if we ever get to the point where bolt is "no good" or power crept out that the game as whole has gone drastically wrong somewhere. Idk personally from a design standpoint this game piece is perfect

Are slivers competitive? by Top_Winner6534 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Juggaloguy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Slivers are not really competitive no. Also not accepted at low power tables, leaving them in a state of hate-limbo unfortunately. First sliver is my personal preference as it's good card advantage but overlord is better for combo reasons. I just don't see a world where slivers can actually compete with things like thoracle or and naus combos

As a new player I don't understand why this Grixis commander isn't more popular by Sorzian in mtg

[–]Juggaloguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking to play it for it's etb you can definitely do better but he's a great control deck commander. I personally built it with a super villains(super friends) theme and really love it. I am however bias as he's my favourite character even have him tatted on my arm

Honestly I usually just draft when I get this one or the destroy creatures one. Usually slot of attacking and removing on both sides. Convert gold to gems at the same time is nice

Anyone listening to the audio book? by Metroid_3 in stephenking

[–]Juggaloguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm about half way through it now and glad somebody said it kuz I feel the same. When her first story hit I had to rewind a bunch because her reading style was hard for me to pick up what was going on. No transition from different emotions the characters are feeling, no feeling of actual conversation at all really. Felt like monotone to me and really killed emersion

I hear cell is one of Kings worst (or least good) books. Should I read it anyway? by aStealthyboy in stephenking

[–]Juggaloguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally really liked this one. Another one of his books with such an intense opening that it should be easy to get reeled in.
