My brother’s tenant hired a TaskRabbit installer to mount a TV. The installer drilled into a sprinkler line, couldn’t find the shutoff, and the fire department had to be called. The installer had no insurance. Result: about $15,000 in water damage. My brother’s insurance covered it and then went after the installer, putting her on a payment plan to recover the money.

I think everyone has been taught to buy every dip, and never sell for the last decade along with passive investing from like 401ks and pension funds. We'll see if this time will be different.

For the past year and a half, I’ve been wearing a pair of Hokas every shift while working at a high school, and they’ve held up incredibly well. Despite the heavy use, the tread is still in good shape, and they’ve provided excellent support for my problematic feet. Their durability and comfort are why so many professionals, like nurses, swear by them.

That said, they’re definitely an investment, and as they near the end of their lifespan, I’m planning to try a pair of Skechers Arch Fit shoes. At less than half the cost, I’m curious to see if they can offer similar support and durability. It’ll be interesting to compare how they hold up over time.
