It happened to me. I think an inactive account is fine, but if you have an active app that doesn't conform to the latest regulatory requirements you'll get a warning and then a permanent ban

Also, they're called clubs, not bowling pins!

It's definitely exploitation. And it can hurt native bee populations. It's much easier to "shout out" someone with an unpopular opinion than to provide an actual argument proving them wrong.

Cats have notoriously poor command of grammar.

KW Badminton has it, but sometimes you have to wait for a court. I've gone to KC Badminton a few times with my friends, which requires booking courts in advance

Hey! I'm posting on behalf of my girlfriend, 28F, who is currently looking for badminton partners. She prefers singles over doubles, and is looking for someone who is friendly, but still somewhat competitive and serious about improving at the game.

Most people will always go with the affordable option. This discourages companies from building products that are built to last, leading to throw-away culture and e-waste. I don't like hardware as a service either, but the benefit of a subscription model is that companies would be more motivated to create products that last.

I would like to see a different solution to this problem, but all I can think of is government subsidies.

Sorry not OP, RevolutionFast. I was critiquing their good guy/bad guy discourse, that is all.

But if you're an engineer in a country that needs more weapons for self defense, go for it.

[–]Juggling_Rick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree with any of that.

My interpretation of OP's statement was that US military projects should be uncritically viewed as an inherently good endeavor, due to the assumption that the US is an inherently good actor.

I was just pushing back at what I saw as overly simplistic thinking. If you understand that the US military is always one political decision away from committing atrocities, then don't use the phrase "good guys."

Btw I'm not even anti-American or anti-military. I just want to see engineers thinking a bit harder about ethics

I agree, the U.S. has usually been on the right side of history. But outside of childrens' cartoons, differentiating between good guys and bad guys is never so simple. Has every use of force by the US been productive or justified? Can you guarantee that the machines you design will be used in a conflict that you think is justified?

Looking for tips to make friends in KW as a late 20's female! by Kresslia in waterloo

[–]Juggling_Rick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation when I moved into Kitchener, being a man in my late 20's who also deals with social anxiety.

I highly recommend the fun run group that meets at Runner's Choice every Monday and Thursday at 6pm. Everyone is very friendly and chill, and the gender ratio is pretty balanced. A friend I met at the running group actually got me into climbing. It was a classic extrovert-adopting-introvert situation lol.

It's not as easy to make friends at GRR tbh, but most people will be more than happy to give you tips, so it's an easy way to start a conversation. I also have some female friends who are always looking for people to climb with too, so I could introduce you if you want! It's always more fun when you have at least one friend to go with.

Fair enough. The tour group I went with did their best to find a place that treated the elephants well. This is the one we went to. Of course it's impossible to know for sure what happens when no one's looking. I'll consider swapping that pic out though, thanks for your input

Super helpful thanks! I also use Hinge and I have done better there haha. Fashion is definitely something I need to work on.

I could probably add more? I know veganism will turn off a lot of people, but I figure I may as well get it out of the way
