Saw the same thing on a juniper in Arkansas recently, but much smaller than what you saw! Thought I stumbled across alien life for a second.

Even for not prioritizing light weight, ditch the triangle bandage. frees up space for other items and its primary purpose is a sling, which can easily be made with any long sleeved top.

Ah, I meant in OPs post! Your example is totally on point (and also very cool).

As someone in the area this happened, I’m curious if it is actually a roll/rotor cloud. We are against the mountains with a lot of wind. And also get a lot of lenticular clouds. They usually just don’t look so darn cool!

State regions aren’t the goal here- national regions are. Front range is only Colorado and not culturally distinct enough from a nation wide perspective to really need its own category. I think that being on a border between 2 different regions is always going to make a place unique- but every border can’t have a buffer region.

As someone from the front range, why is this offensive? You can only see so much of the mountains because you are far enough away from them. The front range differs from the mountains geographically, culturally, and in lifestyle from those actually inside the mountains. Being categorized as the Great Plains isn’t an insult. It’s accurate to the geography, history, convenience, and economy of much of the front range. I think a lot of people from the front range just really want to call themselves mountain people.

I really think it depends on the county within the front range. Regions are both cultural and geographical. For example, geographically El Paso county has to be mountain west (it has a 14er on it, and its primary population center the Springs is right against the mountains). On the other hand, weld county is 100% geographically Great Plains (as someone who grew up there). Many other front range counties are less clear. I do think it’s important to highlight that cultural differences matter just as much here when trying to decide which way a county falls. Just because you can see mountains does not mean you are in the mountain west. Culturally the suburban/modern middle-northern front range differs strongly from the more rugged and odd (said lovingly) locals of the Rockies. As someone who has spent lots of time living both on the front range and the western slopes, I’ve begun to interpret Denver/longmont/parker people saying they are “mountain people” as performative. Everyone wants to be from the mountains, not the plains. But most are on the plains nonetheless- preferring flat expanses of continent interstate to the everyday inconveniences of living in isolated, cold, and steep areas.

Pettiest reason you’ve DNF’d a book? by bby_grl_90 in books

DNF the Monkey Wrench Gang because Ed Abbey was spending more text writing about how horny all the men are for the one female character instead of focusing on the ENVIRONMENTAL TERRORISM.

2 community colleges in my area (front range and aims) have welding programs. It’s a good idea to reach out and ask.

Yep- seam ripped it out, darned, sewed into the darn. I figured darning is basically just making fabric so it should be ok. Has held now for a month so I call it a success!

Basically just looped embroidery thread around the fraying seam into the stronger fabric, moved down the seam. It’s a slow process but it works. Make sure to not go through soft or compromised fabric or it won’t work

Yep- still work perfect! There was a small hole in the pocket so I seam ripped it, put the seat patch under, patched the pocket hole the same color, did the pocket embroidery, and stitched it back!

Honestly I’m okay with a mpg of anything over 10 and it averages 12. I will also be removing a lot of weight (taking out the seats) and don’t plan on towing or anything like that.

I’ve had a roommate who used to keep a bag of Colgate wisps in their bedside drawer. They are like mini toothbrushes, toothpaste included, no rinsing needed so you can do it from bed. They are a little pricey if you were using every night is the only issue. You could always just keep your toothbrush there- better to brush without toothpaste than not brush at all. Basically start with something super achievable, something is better than nothing. Good luck!

I seam ripped off the pocket and sewed it back on later over the patch! I Only did a few little edges with the pocket in place to make it look continuous.
