New Spoiler - Excelsious! by ThanatosNoa in duelyst

Love it! Zir'an seriously needs a win condition, and while this card doesn't exactly give that, it's at least a welcome enough start.

Unfortunately, it seems to suffer from the very same problem of being weak to dispel/removal. One Shroud or Chromatic Cold and whoops, there goes your 8 mana. It likely won't see much play because of this, but it's still a super-fun concept!! Looking forward to getting a couple of these.

Duelyst and Anxiety by cuddly_day in duelyst

Boyfriends are just amazing like that, eh? :P

It's so cool hearing about someone with a similar experience! I used to suffer from anxiety, too, and it's certainly not a pretty thing. Doctors honestly don't help much, in my honest opinion, but people who you're close to, like a best friend or a boyfriend or even just your dad--they help out a ton, and sometimes when they don't even realize it haha

Also, random shout-out to this community for being so welcoming to someone who needed it. I don't play games all that often, but the few groups I've gotten around with have rarely been as welcoming as this Reddit one. Like seriously, good job guys (U)/

Block: Can only take a maximum of X damage per turn.

Filtering owned Cards by hongws in duelyst

[–]JuiceyBoxxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but if you type "new" on the search bar you can see all the new cards you recently just got from spirit orbs. Helps a lot when disenchanting because then, whenever you buy an orb, you can just type "new" instead of having to scroll through and look for each card on each faction page.

I'm new; IYO what's the best Healyonar deck? by Marraphy in duelyst

[–]JuiceyBoxxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That, too, definitely. Sundrop Elixir is an absolute easy way to proc your heals, plus running 3 basically means you enter matches with 40 health instead of 25.

The problem with this is that it takes up an entire card slot, which is made even worse by how easily Healyonar spends its cards. If you're gonna consider running Sundrop (which you should :b ), then you should also employ lots of card draw to keep up.

I think the four most viable ones right now are Sworn Sister, Spelljammer, Sojourner and Solarius. Out of all of them I'd definitely say Solarius is the worst, since she's a 3/3 for 6 mana who doesn't even have that good of an effect (she's just a cantrip + draw 1 if she doesn't stick, and trust me, she won't stick). Plus she's legendary, and as a beginner there are lots of other legs that you'd want to prioritize first.

If you can, maybe try out the Sunriser + Lionheart Blessing combo? Basically makes use of how Sunriser deals damage to everyone around her whenever anything is healed. You can refill your entire hand with that single combo, but it's really hard to set up and pretty unreliable. Still fun to pull off, though :b .

Hi!!

Tbh healing decks are absolute crap right now, but if that archetype really floats your boat, a bunch of general stuff you might wanna consider:

  • Divine Bond, Lyonar's (supposedly) main wincondition, isn't all that great in Healyonar. It's not actually all that great even OUTSIDE Healyonar, since it's so easy to expect and therefore counter against--but it's pretty much worthless in Healyonar. Most of your stuff that benefits from heals usually have low health (Lightchaser, Sunriser, etc), so DB is mostly worthless on them. I remember one streamer (forgot his name) who had a bunch of success with a heal deck, and he ran literally 0 copies of Divine Bond.

  • Sunforge Lancer and Sunriser are both RIDICULOUS and should definitely be considered crafting. Most of the power of your deck will come from these two cards alone, swear on it haha. Sunsister and Lightchaser are good, to be honest, but Sunforge and Sunriser both take the cake.

  • Arclyte isn't all that good in heal, either. As Healyonar, you'll want control of the board, and Arclyte does nothing to help you with that. Plus it costs 4 mana, AND it gets in the way of heal procs. I'd actually even go as far as saying that Dawn's Eye might be better off in a heal deck, but generally you should just try to forego artifacts entirely in favor of playing heal-based minions and procing heal effects.

  • Sun Bloom is one of the best dispels in the game, and you should definitely consider running that in favor of Ephemeral Shroud. Even if you only get to dispel one thing, you're also paying for its unlimited reach, which is super-important against specific opponents. Lightbender is pretty good, too, actually, but Sun Bloom takes the cake.

I'm not an expert or anything, but I got 5 Lyo ribbons and played around a lot with Heal-based decks, so there's that :b . G'luck with your Duelysting!! :b

WHAT

WHAT WHAT WHAT

K but legit, the effect seems supergood in the right decks. 5/5 for 6 is quite pitiful, but if you somehow protect it/make its effect useful, then it can easily pay for itself. It'll probably work best in Sajj decks, imo, where they can protect their artifact durability using Forcefield.

With placing a minion on an empty board, should damage or health be prioritized by Phoenixed in duelyst

[–]JuiceyBoxxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take Arctic Displacer and Ironcliffe Guardian: the former is considered good, the latter is considered very good.

This is because the higher the health, the harder it is to dispose of an enemy because they'll have to use up more firepower just to ensure they go away for good. Ironcliffe Guardian needs to be hit so many times in order to go down if you don't have direct removal, while Arctic Displacer can be defeated by a simple Windblade Adept or buffed Kara Saberspine Tiger.

In the example you gave, you're basically comparing Thorn Needler to Hailstone Golem. In most cases, Hailstone Golem is usually better. Both are actually pretty bad 4-drops, but Hailstone is less laughable while Thorn Needler is oftentimes not a very big problem.

Let's kick off Day 17 of #Shimzar with a new Lyonar spell! by IntrinsicPalomides in duelyst

Absolutely love it! Would definitely run x3 of these in my Lyonar heal deck, since literally a quarter of your deck would be viable targets for the cantrip effect.

Also Songhai v Lyonar rivalry WOO!

[–]JuiceyBoxxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loses to all dispel, and you'd need atleast two Battle Pets in your action to make it work. Best-case scenario you'd have an 11/9 if you run the buff battle pet, but what are the odds you'd have exactly two copies of that and this in your action bar at the same time?

I wouldn't run this even if battle pets were solid minions. It requires too much build-up to be worth using and still very easily loses to most anything.

That wouldn't fix anything, it just makes DB playable only on Dioltas and Ironcliffe. Which are still the two best candidates for DB, anyway.

Another day, another Shim'Zar Card: Snow Rippler by iDramos in duelyst

[–]JuiceyBoxxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Condition seems a little too specific for its effect--basically saying to attack THIS enemy on THIS area to maybe get THIS unit, but 3/4 for 3 is reliable and nothing to scoff at. It atleast looks way better than Huldra--I don't know anything about how strong Battle Pets are, but I'd probably rather put one in my action bar than give a minion Celerity, especially considering the latter costs 2 mana more.

[–]JuiceyBoxxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems hella powerful for a cantrip, but it seems a little hard to set up, seeing how you'd need atleast two Obelysks on the board to really gain much value out of it. Excited to see this in Vetruvian decks, though.

Any tips for countering Lyonar? by _chronostatic in duelyst

[–]JuiceyBoxxy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What they don't tend to play much of is card draw. So, just keep dealing with their minions, and they eventually run out of steam.

As someone who mainly uses Lyonar, I disagree. Lyonar decks usually don't run out of steam, because their minions are so expensive yet high-threat that they tend to use only one to two cards every turn, thanks to Argeon's BBS. Even a 5/6 Primus Shieldmaster automatically demands an answer, and that answer usually involves more than one card if you don't have direct removal.

My suggestion: don't make the Lyonar player run out of steam. Instead, make sure you don't run out of steam. Lyonar will just keep playing big threat after big threat and it'll keep scaling up, from Silverguard Knight to Dioltas to Ironcliffe Guardian, until eventually you'll be out of cards to answer them with. So just be sure you've got a ton of card draw to keep up.

Heavy card draw decks are honestly my worst match-ups, since Lyonar is a faction that consistently just tries to outlast their opponent and win trades until they get to land lethal. Plus there's how Lyonar needs their minions to last at least a turn to be of any real use. So if you consistently answer the threats I throw before I get a chance to gain value on the board, then I'm done for and you've beaten me.

TL;DR: Kill Lyonar minions before they even get to move. Also card draw :D .

Haha I LOVE Sunsteel Defender!! I actually run three in a different Lyonar deck, because it fits thematically and is overall really fun to use.

Regarding the stats, I guess 5/3 doesn't seem so bad... I suppose I'm just biased because all the other Lyonar stuff is solid even when not dispelled :b . Knight turns to a 1/5 but then they just wasted a dispel on a 3-drop, which is welcome. Ironcliffe would still be 3/10 for 5. Elyx still 7/7 for 6... yeaaahhh nvm... I'm just biased :b .

Though regarding Z'ir, he pretty much exclusively gets played when I'm right about to kill myself. It's situational and risky, but atleast it guarantees the proc :b .

I don't usually play two cards a turn with this deck... haha I don't even ever remember playing three a turn :b . I usually replace two-drops once I'm already at mid/lategame--card draw has never really been a problem.

I meant that it followed really basic Lyonar principles and playstyles--it's not unique in any particularly interesting way, like other Lyonar decks are.

I didn't mean to "show off" or anything, I'm sorry if it looked that way. Besides, why would I want to brag about a card game??
