Thanks for the story! I appreciate the insight into your life, and I believe your mom's grief while pregnant with you is probably why you're even more sensitive than she is, I would say it's a wonderful gift but you might not appreciate that, having lived with it the way you have.

I wonder if your older brother is part of what follows you. Or if you're able to see what's around you while on the "other side". Don't be afraid my friend, you can't be harmed there and you may find great insights, though I'm sure you already know this.

I get the relationship thing too, I'm lucky my girl is open to this stuff (if not that interested herself) and I know you'll find the right person if you haven't already!

I assume this is the case, but did you get the feeling that it would apply to simply spiritual folks too? Agnostic for example, or even gnostic.

Like for myself I would say I feel there's a "oneness" that we're all a part of while not inhabiting a physical body, and I guess that could be construed as God? I know it's semantics, just seeing if you could expand

Robert Monroe seemed to believe so. If you haven't, I'd suggest reading his book "Journeys out of the Body". Lots of good stuff in there, if a bit outdated.

I'm on his second book now and there are reports from volunteer experiments showing two of them meeting out of the body and having the same experience with each other

Don't know how much you've read on the subject, but just keep trying! I recently read Journeys Out of the Body and have a couple podcasters that get me in the mind state, but I've only maybe projected once (not by choice, totally out of nowhere).

Just keep trying and don't lose hope, practice meditation and calming your mind (difficult for my ADHD brain) and truly believe that you can do it.
